The Marina is located on Milford Lake and has over 20 watercraft available for rent; including pontoons, fishing boats, jet skis, and ski boats. Come out and enjoy a day at the lake. The Kansas State Boater’s Safety Course is required to rent a motorized boat or you must have a NASBLA approved card/certificate. For information about the course visit www.kdwp. ks.us/news/Boating/Boating-Education. Jet ski rentals require an additional safety review and a mandatory test will have to be passed by all patrons. All are available on a first-come, first-serve basis. No reservations will be accepted. Multiple boats will not be issued to one customer. Each boat rented must be to a Boater Safety Card holder. (The customer who rents a boat may be held financially liable for items that are lost, damaged, or destroyed by causes other than fair wear and tear.) Marina property is for personal use only to the person it is issued. Customers will not allow unauthorized persons to use or operate government property. Annual registration fees are currently waived (until further notice) and CYSS registration may be transferred to a new duty station upon PCS. Parent Central’s hours are: Mon-Fri 8am-5pm. CYSS Hourly Care Hourly care is open from 7:30am-5pm, Mon-Fri at Warren East CDC and SAS. The hourly rate is $4.00 per hour ($2.50 for Category I Families.) Reservations can be made up to 30 days in advance by calling Warren East CDC at 785-240-0822 or SAS at 785-239-9220. Families can use the hourly care program up to 20 hours per week, per child. All reservations are on a first-come, first-serve basis. We make every effort to accommodate hourly care needs. FREE hourly care is available for the children of deployed Soldiers. Army Family Covenant (AFC) CYSS Initiatives
You must present a copy of deployment orders (with spouse’s name) in order to receive any of the AFC discounts in addition to being registered with Parent Central. Initiatives include: •20% monthly discount is available for children of deployed Soldiers for full-time and part-day fees. •$100 in FREE sports registrations per child per Family per deployment. This includes soccer, baseball, basketball, flag football, and volleyball programs. •$300 in FREE instructional (SKIES) classes per child for maximum duration of eight weeks each. Regular fees will apply after the eight weeks. •16 hours of free hourly care per month is available to children of deployed sponsors. Hourly care is located at Warren East CDC and SAS. •FREE hourly Saturday care is available up to 90 days after the Soldier returns. FREE Saturday Hourly Care: Sep 10, Oct 15, & Nov 19 FREE Weekday Hourly Care: Sep 13 & 27, Oct 11 & 18, Nov 15 & 29 Be sure to make your reservations in advance at Warren East CDC or SAS. Weekday care is from 6:30-8:30pm. Saturday care is from 9am-1pm, and includes a lunch at 11:30am. Patrons may also utilize an hourly rate to take advantage of Weekday and Saturday care. Weekday care is free for Families participating in FRG’s.
School Age Services (SAS)
SAS is a nationally accredited program for Kindergarten to 5th Grade. SAS offers before and after school programs, as well as Open Recreation. Families requiring full time care during school out weeks may register for a weekly fee. SAS offers hourly care, Families must be registered with CYSS. Families can reserve time for hourly care 30 days in advance (must call SAS for reservations). Before and After School Program. Register for the before and after school program at Bldg. 5810, 785-239-9220. Hours for operation are 5:45-8am and 3:30-6pm. A wide variety of activities are offered such as art and crafts, computers, home economics, sports and leisure activities. Field trips are offered on school out days. Families can also receive 4 FREE hours of Open Recreation each month simply for being registered with CYSS (reservations are required). Please call 785-239-9220 for additional information. School Support Services (SSS)
SSS develops partnerships with local schools and community organizations to help ensure a positive educational experience of our military children and youth. Through coordination with the School Liaison Officers, schools and community, SSS helps ease education transition and connects military Families with available resources. SSS also collaborates with parents and schools to ensure academic success. New to the area? Let SSS help you navigate the local school system, their procedures, programs, and schedules. Middle School & Teen (MST) Center
Youth Services MST offers a range of positive activities for youth in grades 6-12 that promote positive attitudes and reinforces Army core values.Youth Services sponsors a variety of programs offering youth opportunities in life skills; citizenship and leadership; leisure, recreation and arts; mentoring, intervention and support services. There are special interest activities that change each week. Join the Fort Riley Teen Center for our weekly activities which include: Sports, Smart Girls, Tech Club, Dungeons & Dragons Gaming, High School specific activities, Power Hour, Photography Club, Arts & Crafts, Passport to Manhood, and Cooking Club. EDGE The CYSS EDGE program provides FREE activities for middle and high school youth to Experience, Develop, Grow and Excel by participating in exciting activities. The EDGE program is part of the MWR Partnership Initiative. CYSS partners with MWR facilities on post to provide fun and exciting activities for middle and high school students after school. Karaoke Night Sep 30, 7-9pm - Free HIRED! Get your foot in the door today by participating in HIRED! $500 cash award is available for youths undergoing an internship this fall. The HIRED! Apprenticeship Program provides 15-18 year old high school students with meaningful, professionally-managed careerexploration opportunities in MWR and military facilities on Fort Riley. The HIRED! Apprenticeship Program offers valuable work experience and training to better equip each participant with the skills needed for today’s highly-competitive job market. The apprenticeship can be worked into your school year schedule. In addition to hands-on experience, you can expect to attend workforce preparation workshops such as: problem solving, interviewing skills, résumé writing, public speaking, effective communication, financial management, and college/post-secondary exploration workshops. Child Development Centers (CDC)
The Army provides care in a Multi-Age group setting. Each classroom enrolls children with a minimum age span of 18 months. The concept of the Multi-Age classroom is to provide a Family style environment where the children learn from and nurture each other. Children experience fewer transitions while in the Multi-Age child care setting, giving them more time to bond with their primary caregiver. Children also benefit widely from interacting with classmates who are older and younger, learning important principles of citizenship, relationships, respect, patience, and self-esteem. Utilizing a creative curriculum, our approach balances both teacher-directed and child-initiated learning, with an emphasis on responding to children’s learning styles and building on their strengths and interests. www.rileymwr.com

Family Child Care (FCC)
FCC providers provide child care in a home setting. FCC homes offer full-day, part-time, and extended hours. FCC homes have unique qualities making them the preferred child care choice for many Families. Homes provide flexible hours, a comfortable Family-like setting, and activities based on real life experiences in the home and neighborhood. Adults wanting to become certified FCC providers are invited to attend an FCC informational briefing. The orientation/informational briefings are scheduled every Thursday, starting at 1:30pm in Bldg. 6620. Take a tour of FCC homes at www.armyfcc.com. SKIES Unlimited Classes
Sport physicals are not required to enroll in SKIES Unlimited Classes, but you must be registered with Parent Central. $300 worth of classes FREE to children of deployed Soldiers. Refer to the Army Family Covenant (AFC) Initiatives for details. Classes are held at Forsyth East CDC 2420 H St. unless otherwise stated. The SKIES Instructional program is seeking instructors to teach all ages of children and youth in a wide variety of areas. The Custer Hill Golf Course is winding down the 2011 golf season, but that does not mean that we are stopping everything we do. We are introducing new programs, and re-inventing old programs to make the game more enjoyable for golfers of all categories. Looking for golf lessons? Our Professional Staff is here to help you with your golf game, whether you are a beginner or a pro.

You can help support all of our troops by coming out and participating in Patriot Day Golf and the Folds of Honor Foundation. This program runs from 2-5 September and helps provide scholarships for the Families of our Fallen or Wounded Soldiers. For a full list of events during the Fall of 2011, please see our list below.

The Custer Hill Golf Course, located on Historic Fort Riley’s Custer Hill, is a Robert Trent Jones, Sr. golf course design. It offers challenges from tee to green on every hole for all level of golfers. The course is an 18-hole championship course that plays over 7,072 yards from the tips. The Custer Hill Golf Course is excited to offer a variety of quality programs for the military Family, the single Soldier, and everyone in between. During our golf season, we offer a variety of lessons, clinics, tournaments, league, and practice facilities. Let our staff help plan your next tournament. The Custer Hill Golf Course Snack Bar has your lunchtime favorites, whether it is a hamburger or cheeseburger, Philly chicken or steak sandwich, or chicken fingers. Looking for some German cuisine? Try one of our famous Schnitzel Sandwiches. Want a healthier fare? Have one of our sandwiches, wraps, or salads. If you are looking for a space for small group events, our Snack Bar can hold your parties. Time is running out to book your 2011 golf outing, but it’s not too early to start planning or booking your 2012 golf event. We’re here five days a week for you, including nights and weekends! The woodshop has 2,400 square feet of floor space and all the specialized equipment needed to complete any project. A large selection of hardwoods, plywood, and processed material is available for purchase. Two potter’s wheels, a slab roller, and a ceramic kiln make it possible to create finished ceramic ware from scratch. You can bring in your greenware and bisque year-round to be fired for a minimal fee, however the potter’s wheels and slab roller are only available during warm weather. The matting and framing area has a huge selection of mats and frame stock available as well as state of the art equipment. We only use conservation and preservation matts which are the best to preserve your framed work. After taking a beginners class you will be able to come and finish a project in one day with the help of our friendly staff. There is a scrap booking area. Specialized equipment such as zyron and acc-u-cut die cutter for scrap booking, are available for walk-in use, there is a minimal fee.

Crochet, Knitting, & Cross Stitch 2nd Sat of Every Month, 1-4pm Learn the basics of crochet including single and double stitches, how to read instructions, how to change colors, and how to increase and decrease. Students will be supplied with yarn and a hook for their first class. After the first class, supplies will be the students’ responsibility. Matting and Framing $10 (Orientation and First Time User Course) Mondays, 6:30-8:30pm Sep 5, 19, Oct 3, 17 & Nov 7, 21 Learn the skills to do your own matting and framing and save a bundle! Subjects covered include: material selection, matt cutting, frame chopping and assembly, and glass-cutting. All materials are provided for hands-on instruction. Students will not be working on their own projects. This class is required before using this area. This is a one-night class.
Wood Safety $8 (Orientation and First Time User Course) Mondays or Tuesdays, 6:30-8:30pm Call ahead for dates. Learn power tool safety and general woodshop procedures in this one-night class, given twice a month. Patrons are required to take this class before using the woodshop.
Arts & Crafts Center offers tours and classes for groups such as coffee groups, FRG’s and scouts. We can assist your scouts in earning badges, woodworking and a variety of crafts. Coffee groups and FRG’s come and make a craft to send to your spouse or make a craft for your home, there are many projects to choose from. Our sales store has supplies for many crafts and hobbies to include: stained glass, woodworking, matts & frames, ceramic paints, clay for pottery, quilting & sewing supplies (excluding fabric), DMC floss, and metal engraving. The Shop also carries handmade wooden farewell gifts, flag holders, coin holders, shadow box frames (to display your medals), and triangle name holders. Ceramic Shop: You can drop off your greenware or glazeware for firing here. There is a minimal charge per inch. Call and ask about our Unit PT Bowling: Tired of the gym? Custer Hill Bowling has the solution for you. How well you bowl and the frame determines what type of exercise and how many reps you do. Ex: 1st frame and 1st ball:You knock down 6 pins. You and your partner will do 6 pushups. If your partner fails to “pick up” the last 4 pins (say only 3 out of 4 were picked up), both players do 18 pushups (2x the amount of pins knocked down). Sit-ups, push-ups (regular/elevated), crunches, leg scissors, squats, or any type of exercise can be used. Ball weights also give you the ability to perform weight-lifting exercises as well. A strike or spare (after your partner picks up) gives both a free pass on the exercise. Cost is $2 per person. Max occupancy 80 people. Dates must be coordinated at least 3 days in advance with the Bowling Center. Times may be coordinated between 6am and 9am, Monday-Friday. Minimum number for participation 50 people.

FITNESS CLASS PuNCH CARDS Cards can be purchased at King Field House (KFH) in the fitness or sports office 7:30am-4:30pm. Cash will not be accepted at class time. Punch cards are $20 (10 Fitness Classes). Trial cards are available for $2 (1 Class). All classes are located at KFH, 202 Custer Ave. We reserve the right to cancel classes.
