Cox Brothers BBQ

The team at Cox Brothers BBQ has been a fixture in the Manhattan food scene for years. Now, they’re reaching out to Fort Riley to help improve the lives of Soldiers and their families by sponsoring and advertising with Fort Riley Family and MWR. Cox Brothers has been ramping up their presence on Fort Riley by providing free meals for Soldiers during recent BOSS Barbecues. These events, led by the Better Opportunities for Single Soldiers program, started in April and continue through August, and provide a free lunch, fun and games for Soldiers who stop by. It’s a delicious way for Soldiers to take a break from their duty day. “We love being able to cook up great BBQ for the BOSS Barbecue events and have enjoyed getting to meet some of the Soldiers on base and thank them for their service,” said Cox Brothers owner Bobby Cox. You’ll also catch Cox Brothers at Victory Fest, where they’re sponsoring the local stage in conjunction with the Junction City branch of Freddy’s Frozen Custard and Steakburgers; be sure to stop by and say thank you for their support! It’s all part of the Cox Brothers commitment to Fort Riley’s Soldiers and families. “We are so appreciative of Fort Riley and the Soldiers and families there – and we’re so grateful to be able to support activities on post,” said Bud Cox, owner of Cox Brothers. *Sponsorship and advertising do not imply U.S. Army endorsement.

WORK FROM HOME

Earn money from home with a portable career that travels with you from post to post Do you want to earn money from home? Do you enjoy working with children? If the answer is yes, check out the Family Child Care program! The FCC program recruits, trains and certifies military spouses who live on post and want to provide child care. FCC homes offer full-day, part-time and hourly care, and extended hours for children 4 weeks to 12 years of age. FCC homes have unique qualities making them the preferred child care choice for many families. Child and Youth Services currently has a need for more certified homes. When you become an FCC Provider, CYS provides free training, access to startup equipment, ongoing program support, and a subsidy program to help offset ex-

penses. FCC Providers have the earning potential of $26,000-$40,000 per year. If you are interested in supporting Fort Riley Soldiers and families by providing safe, high-quality child care in a home environment, an FCC orientation is held at 1:30 p.m. every Thursday at 6620 on Normandy Drive. For more information, call Child and Youth Services at (785) 240-2818.

FCC Fast Facts

> All training, basic equipment, toys and supplies necessary to start an FCC home are available free of charge from CYS. > The FCC program selects only individuals who are “best qualified” for acceptance into the program. The applicant, the applicant’s spouse, and anyone in the home over age 12 must pass several background checks. > Applicants who are selected must complete 40 hours of specified training prior to working with children to meet the Army standard. Training and Curriculum Specialists role model in FCC homes, helping providers develop as competent caregivers and teaching professionals. > Providers must also complete ongoing training in child development and guidance to become fully certified and maintain that certification. FCC providers are supported by the FCC program in attaining their Child Development Credential and National Association of Family Child Care Accreditation.
