SKEET & TRAP INTRODUCTORY CLINIC Jun-Aug Learn the basics of sport shooting by trying your hand at Skeet and Trap. Rental gun, ammo, ear protection and eye protection is included in the fee. Dates and times are by appointment only.
FAMILY CLIMB TIME Jun 21 & Jul 19, 2-4pm Outdoor Recreation and Craig Fitness Center are teaming up to offer you an exciting escape from your regular routine. Trained staff will belay while you, your Family, and your friends climb on the wall. Climbers must be at least 10 years of age.
PAINTBALL OPEN PLAY Jun-Aug, Sat & Sun Noon-3pm Personal Equipment: $10 per Person Rental Equipment: $13 per Person Grab your teammates, friends, or Family members for open shooting at the Outdoor Recreation Paintball arena. It is required to use our field grade paintballs. Participants must be 13 years of age or older. Anyone age 13-17 must have a parent/guardian sign a waiver and be present at all times during play. Minimum 6 people required to play.
SUMMER BLAST PAINTBALL SHOOTOUT Jun 22; $25 per person Let’s celebrate the beginning of summer with a little paintball action! Sign up your teams or sign up individually. All equipment and supplies are provided or utilize your own equipment. Must be 13 years of age or older to participate.
IRON MAN SHOOT Jun 1, 10am-3pm; $75 per person Who will claim the title of Best Sport Shooter on Fort Riley? You will need to bring your A Game, energy drinks/coffee and a well-padded shooting vest. This competition will consist of 12 rounds, 300 targets and take as much determination as you can muster. Ammo not provided.
FAMILY CANOE TRIP Jun 29 & Aug 10, 10am-1pm $15 per person Settle in, relax and enjoy a leisurely trip in one of Kansas’ local bodies of water. Grab your friends and Families, pack a lunch and join our staff for some fun in the sun. The destination will be based on current water levels and accessibility. CAMP FUNS-TOWN PAINTBALL SHOOTOUT Jul 13, 10am-3pm; Free Fourth of July is all about the fireworks, but the 6th of July is all about Paintball!

The Parent Advisory Council (PAC) 3rd Thu of each month, 4:30pm Parent Central, 6620 Normandy Dr. CYSS hosts an Internet-based Parent Advisory Board. If you have any issues or concerns this is the place to voice them and get answers directly from the CYSS management team. PLAY PALS PLAYGROUP

KIDS ON SITE CHILDCARE
On-site hourly care is available for groups within the same building, or immediately adjacent, to the parent’s function. Contracts for afterhours childcare facilities are available as well. Coordination must be made with the Kids On Site Specialist at least 2 weeks prior to the event to discuss procedures, for site approval, registration and fees. ARMY FAMILY COVENANT (AFC) CYSS INITIATIVES
You must present a copy of deployment orders (with spouse’s name) in order to receive any of the AFC discounts in addition to being registered with Parent Central. Initiatives include: •20% monthly discount is available for children of deployed Soldiers for full-time and part-day fees. •$100 in FREE sports registrations per child per Family per deployment. This includes soccer, baseball, basketball, flag football, and volleyball programs. •$300 in FREE instructional (SKIES) classes per child for maximum duration of eight weeks each. Regular fees will apply after the eight weeks. •16 hours of free hourly care per month is available to children of deployed sponsors. Hourly care is located at Warren East CDC and SAC. AFC benefits can be used up to 90 days after the Soldier returns. Be sure to make your reservations in advance. Weekday AFC care is from 6-8pm. Saturday AFC care is from 7-11pm. Patrons may also utilize weekday and Saturday childcare at the hourly rate. Weekday AFC childcare is free for Families participating in FRG meetings that have a deployed spouse.
CYSS HOURLY CARE
Hourly care is open from 7:30am-5pm, Mon-Fri at Warren East CDC and SAC. The hourly rate is $4.00 per hour. Reservations can be made up to 30 days in advance. Families can use the hourly care program up to 20 hours per week, per child. All reservations are on a first-come, first-serve basis and reservations are required. We make every effort to accommodate hourly care needs. SCHOOL AGE CENTER (SAC)
SAC is a before-and-after-school program, which offers academic support through the Homework Lab and Technology Center. In addition, we incorporate BGCA and 4H curriculum to enhance students outcome as productive citizens in a community. This includes Money Matters, Smart Girls, Passport to Manhood, and a range of other experiences to support their development. Call 785-239-9220 for more information. Upcoming SAC Events 2013 Big Red Fun Summer Camp Summer Camp provides exciting, fun, discovery experiences to create memories that will last a lifetime. The program offers children social interaction, team building, physical activities and community service opportunities. Highlights for summer camp include: ZAC Foundation Grant week where kids from K-3rd grade spend a week learning about water safety and enjoying a true summer pastime - Swimming! In addition, children experience the great outdoors fishing at Moon lake, planting and growing produce in the Victory Gardens, creative experiences in Arts and Science, enhanced math and engineering skills in wood working and design, along with a host of other great activities and field trips.You may enroll for the whole summer or the weeks you need. To register call, 785-239-9778. Transition Week Aug 5-9 Incoming Kinders come to SAC to experience the excitement and learning opportunities for our Kinder program. Outgoing 5th graders will join MST to experience their first week as Middle Schoolers.
FAMILY CHILD CARE (FCC)
Every Thu, 1:30pm - Parent Central FCC providers are contractors who provide childcare in a home setting. FCC homes offer full-day, part-time, and extended hours. FCC homes have unique qualities making them the preferred childcare choice for many Families. Homes provide flexible hours, a comfortable Family like setting, and activities based on real life experiences in the home and neighborhood. Please contact Parent Central for vacancy information. CHILD DEVELOPMENT CENTERS YOUTH SPORTS & FITNESS (S&F) The Army provides care in a Multi-Age group setting. The concept of the Multi-Age classroom is to provide a Family-style environment where the children learn from and nurture each other. Children experience fewer transitions while in the Multi-Age childcare setting, giving them more time to bond with their primary caregiver. Children also benefit widely from interacting with classmates who are older and younger. They learn important principles of citizenship, relationships, respect, patience, and self-esteem. Utilizing a creative curriculum, our approach balances both teacher-directed and child-initiated learning, with an emphasis on responding to children’s learning styles and building on their strengths and interests.

Student Online Achievement Resources (SOAR) www.SoarAtHome.org Soar is a free website providing students and parents with resources to identify academic strengths and weaknesses in math and reading. They instruct students in math, reading and language arts through interactive tutorials. They involve parents by providing educational resources written specifically for parents. Tutor.com for Military Families More than 2500 Tutors are online 24/7 and available to help in all subjects and skill levels. Basic preparation for career transitions, writing résumés and studying for exams are available for adults. All Active Duty, National Guard, Reserve and their Families are eligible to utilize Tutor.com at no cost. Youth Services (MST) offers a range of positive activities for youth in grades 6-12 that promote positive attitudes and reinforces Army core values.Youth Services sponsors a variety of programs offering youth opportunities in life skills; citizenship and leadership; leisure, recreation and arts; mentoring, intervention and support services. There are special interest activities that change each week. EDGE The EDGE program provides FREE activities for middle and high school youth to experience, develop, grow and excel by participating in exciting activities based on art, fitness, life skills and adventure. Transportation to and from activities is provided during the school year. Sign-ups for activities are ongoing at CYSS Parent Central, and the Teen Center. There is no cost to participate, but signed parental permission slips are required. Call 785-239-9885 for additional information. HIRED! The Hired! Apprenticeship Program is designed to meet the employment and career exploration needs of Army teens, ages 15-18. Teens must have a parent or guardian who is active military, retired military or a Department of the Army civilian to be eligible for the program. During the apprenticeship session, a Hired! apprentice will explore different career opportunities and assist at a MWR organization for 180 hours (15 hours a week) and attend 12 training sessions. Workforce preparation workshops/trainings include: résumé writing, interview skills, problem solving, effective communication, financial management, and college preparation classes. Hired! Apprentices do not receive an hourly wage. After completing work and training requirements, the apprentice will receive a $500 cash award several weeks after the session. Apprentices may participate in two sessions each year. Apprentices may choose to complete the maximum two terms per year at one time during the summer and earn $1,000. SCHOOL OF KNOWLEDGE, INSPIRATION, EXPLORATION, AND SKILLS (SKIES) UNLIMITED
Sport physicals are not required to enroll in SKIES Unlimited Classes, but you must be registered with Parent Central. Classes are held at Forsyth East CDC unless otherwise stated. The SKIES Instructional program is seeking instructors to teach all ages of children and youth in a wide variety of areas. The sky is the limit! We’re here five days a week for you, including nights and weekends! The woodshop has 2,400 square feet of floor space and all the specialized equipment needed to complete any project. A large selection of hardwoods, plywood, and processed material is available for purchase. We no longer have ceramic molds for pouring but we still have a kiln where you may drop off and have you greenware or bisque fired. We have a slab roller and two potters wheels, these will only be accessible during warm weather; this is an outside activity; making it possible to create finished ceramic ware from scratch. You can bring in your greenware and bisque to be fired for a minimal fee. The matting and framing area has a huge selection of mat and frame stock available as well as state of the art equipment. We only use conservation and preservation matts which are the best to preserve your framed work. After taking a beginners class you will be able to come and finish a project in one day with the help of our friendly staff. There is a scrap booking area. Specialized equipment such as zyron and acc-u-cut die cutter for scrap booking, are available for walk-in use, there is a minimal fee.

Wood Safety $10 (Orientation and First Time User Course) Jun 4, 18, Jul 2, 16, Aug 6 & 20, 6:30-8:30pm Learn power tool safety and general woodshop procedures in this one-night class given twice a month. (Patrons are required to take this class before using the woodshop.) Wood Project Ideas $45-$55 Mon, 6:30-8:30pm You must sign up one week prior and will need to purchase all supplies for this project. There will be a class fee which includes the wood shop usage fees during that month. Ideas for projects that you can make: cutting boards, picnic tables, large plant boxes for your patio, gliders or a swing for your porch. Summer is coming, let’s think about the yard furniture!

The Arts & Crafts Center offers tours and classes for groups such as coffee groups, FRG’s and scouts. We can assist your scouts in earning badges, woodworking and a variety of crafts. Coffee groups and FRG’s come and make a craft to send to your spouse or make a craft for your home, there are many projects to choose from. Pre-registration and payment are required for some classes. Class begins promptly; late arrivals will not always be accepted. Matting and Framing $10 (Orientation and First Time User Course) Jun 3, 17, Jul 8, 22, Aug 5, 19, 6-9pm Learn the skills to do your own matting and framing and save a bundle! Subjects covered include: material selection, matt cutting, frame chopping and assembly, and glass-cutting. All materials are provided for hands-on instruction. Students will not be working on their own projects. Patrons are required to take this class before using the framing area. (One SessionWorkshop)

Sewing $13/2-hour session Learn to make items for yourself, Family, friends and to give as gifts. Level I classes are for anyone that wants to learn to sew, someone that is looking for a quick and easy project, or someone that has not sewn for awhile and needs a little refresher course. Level I classes are designed to teach skills,confidence and increase knowledge as you successfully complete projects. Level I projects will include but are not limited to, coasters & pot holders, pillow cases, snack bags, receiving blanket, burp cloth & bib, table runner, placemats, simple tote bag and much more. Stop by the Center to see these project samples and sign up.You can use our machines or bring your own. Limited number of machines available. Must prepay and enroll one week prior. Dates will be announced and posted at a later time. Crochet, Knitting, & Cross Stitch 2nd Sat of Every Month, 1-4pm Learn the basics of crochet including single and double stitches, how to read instructions, how to change colors, and how to increase and decrease. Students will be supplied with yarn and a hook for their first class. After the first class, supplies are the students’ responsibility. Come and have fun! Call ahead to be enrolled. Our sales store has supplies for many crafts and hobbies to include: stained glass, woodworking, matts & frames, ceramic paints, clay for pottery, quilting & sewing supplies (excluding fabric), DMC floss, and metal engraving. The Shop also carries handmade wooden farewell gifts, flag holders, coin holders, shadow box frames (to display your medals), and triangle name holders. CERAMIC SHOP: You can drop off your greenware and bisque for firing here. There is a minimal charge per inch. PROFESSIONAL MATTING & FRAMING: Our shop has over 500 frame molding choices and only the highest quality conservation, preservation matts for your valuable pieces. ENGRAVING SHOP: We offer computerized engraving services. Currently we are able to engrave the following materials: pen sets, sabers, wood, glossy brass, black brass, plastic, glass, mirror, and limestone. Oceans of Fun New in 2013, the largest waterpark expansion in Oceans of Fun history. The six new slides, which nearly double the park’s slide capacity, will be housed on a 65-foot-tall complex overlooking Surf City Wave Pool.
