is the +Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) program for 5th graders to help teach STEM concepts in a hands-on environment with fun projects such as rocket building. STARBASE 2.0 is an afterschool STEM club for 6th-8th graders. The club has three parts, mentoring, team building and robotics. APLAS is a school partnering program that enables active duty soldiers to be involved in their child’s education. The soldiers can partner with a school for activities, mentor in the middle school, help provide leadership activities for high schools, and attend their child’s parent\teacher conferences. School Support Services assists Military Families with information on the 17 surrounding public schools which includes Lawton Public Schools, four Lawton private schools, and the Fort Sill Garrison, but also ranges from Cyril to Walters and Frederick to Duncan. The School Liaison Officers (SLOs) are a vital part of the School Support Services. SLOs gather and distribute information. They can help with enrollment information such as what to look for in finding a good school, school contact information, and much more. SLOs also coordinate programs such as STARBASE, STARBASE 2.0 and the Army Partnership with Local Area Schools (APLAS). STARBASE

September 10 Body Vs. Earth Triathlon, 8:00am. Sign up for this year’s Body VS. Earth Triathlon at Lake Elmer Thomas Recreation Area (LETRA) 500-meter swim in open water. November 15, Fitness Bingo, Fill you card with fitness activities and by joining our fitness classes, cooking healthy meals and choosing the best meal at a fast food restaurant. Learn as you play and you can win great prizes. Patriot Club November 4, Community Dinners, Dinner begins at 6pm with cocktails starting at 5pm. The meal is free for all club members. Non-members pay $16.50, children 6-12 are $7.75 and children 5 and under are free. Christ Kindl Markt Mark your calendars for Fort Sill’s annual German-inspired Christ Kindl Crafts Markt on December 3-4 at Rinehart Fitness Center. The two-day market, similar to seasonal markets in Germany is an annual Fort Sill holiday tradition. Over 100 vendors will sell a variety of items from traditional Christmas gifts to specialty items to include German crafts and food.
