Bosnia & Herzegovina is the heart shaped land that lies in the heart of southeast Europe. Perhaps what is most important for the visitor to know today, though, is that Bosnia & Herzegovina is a stunningly beautiful country with a vast array of landscapes, cultures, traditions and people. And as the old cliche goes ‘people make the place’ – and BiH prides itself on its hospitality and treating our guests as if they were family members. And family we take to heart. There are many fascinating destinations throughout Bosnia & Herzegovina for every type of tourist. In BiH, one gets the best of both worlds. Here, the most interesting and attractive sites are a wonderful mix of this tiny country’s cultural and natural heritage. It is almost impossible to separate them, for it is from this pristine nature that its cultures and traditions evolved.

Wine and Gastronomy Experience
Day 1 Sarajevo
Afternoon arrival in Sarajevo, the capital of Bosnia and Herzegovina. Sarajevo is one of the historically most interesting cities in Europe. It is the place where the Western & the Eastern Roman Empire split and where the people of the Orthodox East, the Ottoman south and the Roman Catholic West met, both an example of the clash of civilizations and of historical turbulences and a beacon of hope for peace and tolerance, reached through multi-cultural integration. Check in and dinner at hotel. Day 2 Full Day Sarajevo
Since Sarajevo is the capital and largest city in the country, it is a perfect place to take on the challenge of seeing what Bosnian food is all about. Sarajevo has a multitude of restaurants, cafés, bakeries, teahouses, and street food vendors to choose from, and we start our gastronomic tour with a
caffeine addiction – with traditional Bosnian coffee. Bosnian coffee is strong but isn’t bitter. It is always served with sugar cubes and a glass of cold water. As much as you may be tempted to, don’t gulp it fast. Bosnian coffee should be enjoyed slowly. Stir the foam at the top and drop in the sugar cube, then stir some more. After sightseeing around the old town Bascarsija, visiting one of Sarajevo Buregdzinica to taste „Burek“, which is basically fried, flaky heaven made of layers of crispy delicate phyllo dough and stuffed with cheese, meat, spinach, potato, or a combination of these. To be a true Bosnian pie, it must be baked in a sac (large metal pan) and hung up in a coal-burning oven. No trip to Bosnia and Herzegovina is complete without trying the unofficial national dish, cevapcici. These oblong-shaped grilled minced meatballs are the undisputed kings of Bosnian fast foods. Once you taste it, you’ll see why it is so good – the perfect blend of softness, chewiness, and crustiness that goes per-
fectly with tender juicy Cevapcici. Nobody should leave Sarajevo without experiencing its fine dining scene. Cevapcici and pies are great, but sometimes it’s good to change gears towards a more refined meal. We wanted to sample Bosnian fusion food and Herzegovina wines in a modern, upscale setting, and we ended up at the best restaurant in the Sarajevo. Overnight at hotel. Day 3 Sarajevo, Travnik, Sarajevo
After brekafast and morning coffee, we continue exploring Bosnia and Herzegovina. The small town of Travnik is an enjoyable place to visit, as much for the atmosphere and surroundings as for its specific sights. In the center of the town is the Many-Colored Mosque, so name for its external decoration which sets it apart from most mosques in the Balkans. There are a number of other attractive mosques around town, some elaborate vizier’s tombs (turbe), and a picturesque cemetery through

which a cobbled lane winds its way uphill. Any visit to Travnik should include a walk up to the castle, which is open to visitors the entrance is across a high arched bridge. Beyond the castle, trails lead up to Vlasic, the mountain that towers over Travnik to the north. Also on the outskirts of town, but lower down, is Plava Voda, a recreation area beside a mountain stream. It’s a nice spot for a rest, if a little too developed for my taste. For a lunch time, we will be visiting Salak, located on one of the most beautiful and cultivated mountains in the region. Family Salak is dealing with production of famous Vlasic cheese. We will enjoy in the house of healthy food and presentation of preparation of the cheese. Evening return to Sarajevo. Dinner and overnight at hotel.

Day 4 Mostar
Breakfast at hotel, check out from hotel and departure to Mostar. Mostar is a picturesque town famed for its ‘Stari Most’ (old bridge) which spans the turquoise waters of the Neretva River that flow some 70 feet below. The bridge is a UNESCO World Heritage site and as you cross the bridge from the west bank you are crossing the ancient point where East and West symbolically met. During Turkish rule, the city was an important trade centre and the Old Bazaar Kujundziluk which was named after the goldsmiths who crafted their wares on this street, flourishes today. Find many artisans selling their traditionally hand crafted goods including beautiful carpets, paintings, copper and brassware and jewelry. Walking tour to Turkish house - Biscevica corner, which is one of the most beautiful preserved residential structures from the Turkish period. It was built in 1635. yr. This 17th century Ottoman house rests (some parts on pillars of over 5m long) on the eastern banks of the Neretva. There is a conversation or gathering room or divanhan preserved in authentic Ottoman style. Throughout the house are original household objects and the courtyard is a fine example of the Ottoman style. Enjoy specially prepared dinner and presentation in Turkish house. In the warm and cozy garden, you’ll get to explore one totally different world. In complete calmness, surrounded by the bunches of roses, fountain, you’ll listen to the local love song “sevdalinka” performed by a well-known interpreter, accompanied by a skilled musician on accordion. Overnight at hotel in Mostar. Day 5 Wine Tasting
Get a true taste of Herzegovina region on this full-day wine and food tour departing from Mostar. Our guide will lead the way
MONTENEGRO
to the heart of wine yards, known for its red and white wines and breathtaking scenery. Visit two wineries, sipping and swirling Zilavka and Blatina, and tasting homemade specialties. On the way to wineries we will make a short photo stop. Kravice waterfall – a unique part of Hercegovinian scenery. Kravice waterfall is definitely a must to see. Here the river drops into a horseshoe-shaped canyon. The waterfalls are from 26 to 28 m high, with a lake below the falls of 120 m in radius. The calcium scale layer from the bottom to the top of the falls is covered by grass and moss. The falls are surrounded by hemp, figs and poplars. Vineyards Nuic. Winery Nuic is located in south-western part of Herzegovina, in village Crnopod, settled between Međugorje and Ljubuški, where is most common cultivation of indigenous varieties Žilavka and Blatina. History of ‘Vinogradi Nuic’ begins in 2004, when extremely beautiful location Orlovac has been cultivated. Over 30 000 vines have been planted on the rocky red soil, covering 7 hectares of the land. Along with the indigenous varieties Zilavka and Blatina, there also has been planted Bena and Krkošija, then Trnjak, Cabernet Sauvignon, Alicante Bouschet and Plavac Mali. Winery Ostojic. The Ostojic family have reached a pinacle in wine making by cultivating knowledge and dedication for generations. The climate in Herzegovina, along with the stony soil and sun, provides perfect conditions for the growing and cultivation of the best grape varieties, with Brotnjo leading, where the best Herzegovina vineyards, famous for its grapes and wine for centuries, are situated. Medjugorje, Experience the Greatest Shrine in Europe Day 1
Landing in the Split airport and proceeding to Medjugorje. Dinner and overnight at the hotel in Medjugorje. Medjugorje is a town located in the Herzegovina region of the western Bosnia and Herzegovina, around 25 km (16 mi) southwest of Mostar and close to the border of Croatia. Since 1981, it has become a popular site of religious pilgrimage due to the reports of the apparitions of the Virgin Mary to six local Catholic girls and boys. Those of you who have never been to Medjugorje will experience one of the most spiritual and peaceful places on earth. One of the best descriptions of Medjugorje we have ever heard is: “Medjugorje is a place where Heaven touches the earth”. After visiting Medjugorje we are sure you will agree with this. Day 2
Breakfast in the hotel. Morning mass at 10.00 am in the church. Today, you will climb the hill of Crnica above the hamlet of Podbrdo - known as the Hill of the Apparitions. Bronze plaques depicting the Mysteries of the Rosary assist you to meditate on the life of Our Lord as you climb the rocky and overgrown terrain to the site of the first apparitions of the Virgin, a great,
bare space among the rocks, more than a hundred metres in diameter. This is a place where quiet contemplation and meditation is always present. In the afternoon, you can visit the Community Cenacolo, a drugs rehabilitation centre for young people, which uses prayer, fasting and physical work to heal young people from their addictions. You will hear an inspiring personal witnessing by one of the addicts. We visit also the Oasis of Peace, a religious community which has settled down in Medjugorje in order to live and preach the messages received by the Visionaries. Lunch, dinner with overnight in Medjugorje. Day 3
Breakfast in the hotel. Rising before the dawn, those who wish may climb Mount Krisevac - the Hill of the Cross - treading
the stone path and following the Way of the Cross to the summit, where you arrive as the dawn breaks. This is an unforgettable experience reflecting the difficulties of our life’s journey culminating in our arrival at the foot of the cross bathed in the light of the Resurrection. The huge cross at the top of the mountain was erected in 1934 to mark the 1900th anniversary of the Passion of Jesus. Lunch, dinner with overnight in Medjugorje. Day 4
