Meon Valley Lions News
Three Lions, one big heart When the three Lions Clubs of Eastleigh, Swanwick and Meon Valley heard about the desperate plight of a family supported by Home-start, in need of a specialist pushchair for a disabled 2-yearold boy, the Lions Clubs were quick to collaborate to make the purchase of the pushchair possible. The specialist pushchair was recommended by Occupational Health but unfortunately there was no funding available - hence the request from Home-Start to the three Lions Clubs. We were proud to help the family with the specialist pushchair, hopefully providing many years of use.

Home-Start is a local community network of trained volunteers and experts supporting and helping families with young children through their challenging times. HomeStart works with families in communities right across the UK. Starting in the home, their approach is as individual as the people they are helping. No judgement, it is just compassionate, confidential help and expert support.
Teamwork and Collaboration
Local Lions Clubs (Meon Valley, Southampton Solent, Fareham and Swanwick Lions Clubs) came together to support a project to refurbish the rest room for the deceased at Mountbatten Hampshire Hospice. We were pleased to support such a worthwhile project that will impact across our communities, to provide calm and solace for the families and care workers in the worst of circumstances.
23rd Wickham Charity Beer Festival The Meon Valley Lions were pleased to support the Wickham Charity Beer Festival by providing burgers and sausages to the party goers. The event was a great success with tickets selling out before the event. A good time was had by all and it was a great opportunity to raise much needed funds to help people in the local area. Thank you to everyone who supported us.
Santa will be out and about in our area throughout December. Planning is well underway so for more details keep an eye on our social media and website for the latest up-to-date information.
We’re here to help We are local men and women volunteering to help those in need in our communities. We raise funds locally, so we are able to step in when needed, helping people in many different ways; we have provided fridges, cookers, chairs and beds etc, support via the food bank, help for local charities offering support for young families and the elderly; those with disabilities or learning difficulties; those recovering from strokes or cancer; support for hospices, and many more examples. In short, if there’s a need, there’s a Lion.
If you’re an individual who needs support through a difficult period in your life, you need assistance to purchase specialist equipment to overcome disability, or a helping hand for your youngsters on a specific project, we can help both financially and in other practical ways. We also support clubs, hospices, organisations and other local charities to help them fulfil their objectives and support programmes in their communities. Please use Meon Valley Lions Club (CIO) - Feedback welcome we consider every application we receive carefully.
More often than not the idea of choosing to be a care giver as a career is misunderstood. The term ‘just a carer’ comes up frequently in the industry and here at Lapis Care we want to make this phrase a thing of the past. Being a carer is very hard work both mentally and physically, however the rewarding feeling of giving back and making a real difference to people’s lives is why it is all worthwhile.
Domiciliary care isn’t just about personal care, washing, dressing, physical support- these are just the basics of our service. Our carers will adapt every visit to suit you, taking time to get to know you, know how you like things to be done and how you have your tea and toast in the morning. We want to ensure your home life is as normal as possible, just because you need a little extra help doesn’t mean you don’t get to be you.
Lapis Care, recently awarded for ‘Top 20 Care Provider Award’, prides itself with its extensive knowledge from a nurse led team, always going the extra mile with personal touches to each person’s care plan. Even going out of their way to collecting your prescriptions or picking up that little treat you wanted for after dinner. We are a hands-on team, all looking out for each other to ensure the best possible care is provided, even the management roll up their sleeves and regularly engage with all our clients and deliver care.
Our service includes your personal care, medication, food prep, cleaning, social support, even feeding your pets and much more. You are more than just the care you receive. We give you the opportunity to keep being you, all while being able to remain in your own space with all those much-needed home comforts. With our ‘Life is to be lived’ programme Lapis Care also try their best to provide opportunities for you to experience the hobbies & interests you enjoy.
Lapis Care believe Cared for Staff = Cared for Clients. None of our team members are ‘Just Carers.’ On top of continuous support and comprehensive training, we understand that they work hard for a job that they are passionate about, and we pride ourselves in knowing we have a great team behind us.
