The Downtown Community Partnership is excited to announce the return of the Downtown Fargo Street Fair for July 13-15, 2023. Starting in 1975, and taking 2020 off during the pandemic, the annual tradition is now in its 47th year. The event is the largest, free outdoor event in North Dakota spanning eight blocks on Broadway from Main Avenue North to 7th Avenue North.
The street fair brings over 120,000 visitors to Downtown Fargo each year to visit over 200 artists, crafters, brewers and food vendors. In addition to the variety of vendors, the fair will feature activities and performances in Broadway Square!
The event has been held annually in Downtown Fargo for 47 years by community partners and the Downtown Community Partnership, whose mission is to bring together and support the businesses, promoters, advocates, and visionaries of historic Downtown Fargo and its future by connecting and partnering within our community and beyond.
Don’t miss an art-themed Summer Library Experience for youth and adults of all ages hosted by your local library! On any given day at the Bluestem Center for the Arts, visitors will find solace in nature’s natural symphonies. Lush greens, breathtaking views and easy-access parking are not the only part of this gem – the 2023 Essentia Health Presents Bluestem Amphitheater Summer Concert Series produced by Jade Presents continues a strong-as-oak tradition of world-class entertainment to your backyard.
“We always envisioned Bluestem Amphitheater to be our own iconic venue,” Jade Presents President Jade Nielsen said. “If you think of a legendary venue like Red Rocks, you see how that venue has shaped the concert scene in Denver.
“I truly believe we’ve accomplished this same kind of magical experience in our own backyard. We’re so grateful for the community for supporting the music scene. Bluestem has really grown and we’ve never lost sight of bringing the best to Fargo-Moorhead. From the cleanliness of the Bluestem grounds to the ease of purchasing tickets, the sound system, seat locations and of course the variety we’ve programmed, our team is humbled to do what we do and support the Fargo-Moorhead community.”
Celebrating the ‘Feel The Beat In The Heat’ theme, Jade Presents is equally proud to showcase stellar entertainment lineups at Fargo Theatre, Outdoors at Fargo Brewing, Sanctuary Events Center and more. This summer is packed with everything from the 5th Annual Día Del Taco Fest and live comedy from Bored Teachers to concerts like Ben Folds, Train, Lindsey Stirling, Alter Bridge and so much more.
These community events further not only the economic impact for the local community, but they also cement lasting memories and strengthen our resolve to come together to celebrate. Ignite the soundtrack that fueled your youth. Try a new local brew. Embrace the sun, soak up those rays and feel the beat in the heat! For a full listing of all Jade Presents concerts and events, visit Jadepresents. com/summer/
Great tickets are available at JadePresents.com or by calling (866) 300-8300 or at the Tickets300 box office (302 N. University Drive in Fargo; open 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday-Friday).

Summer often means a busy schedule – sports, activities, camps, vacations and more. While getting out and exploring is a great way for your family to bond and experience new places and things together, you can also have a great time in your own backyard with some DIY yard games.
These activities are also great options for neighborhood gatherings, family reunions, birthday parties, and more.
Head to a local dollar store and stock up on some brightly colored pool noodles.
Create a few rings by taping the ends together, and cut the remaining noodles in half so you can set up the uprights the rings will be tossed on to. Push sharpened pencils into the grass and fit the pool noodle upright on it. Then start tossing away!
Grab some bean bags (or make your own from old shirts or jean pockets), a ladder, paper and markers to set up this easy bean bag toss game. Label the paper with the points (probably 10 to 50) and tape them to the rungs of the ladder. Bean bags must go through the area below the rung to earn points. Grab some paper to see who scores the most points!
Note: You could also create a similar bean bag toss using bowls or plates that have been set in the yard and labeled with point designations.
Tic Tac Toe is a great game for people of all ages, and it’s even more fun when it is played on a giant board in your backyard. Just grab a can of spray paint to create the board and use two different colors or styles of paper plates for the Xs and Os.
If your paper plates aren’t quite distinct enough (or you want your kids to practice their letter writing), go ahead and grab a marker (permanent would be best but washable are always winners when it comes to kids’ activities) and have them label the plates with Xs and Os.
Note: If you’re worried about the wind (because Midwest), you can also use rocks for the markers to ensure they won’t blow away. The board doesn’t need to be as big, but you can still have your kiddos get creative by painting the rocks and marking them with Xs and Os before the game begins.
KiwiCoAn inexpensive and easy game to set up in your yard is frisbee golf, and all you need are a few tomato cages, plastic baskets and frisbees. Push the cage into the ground and place the basket in the open end of the cage. Then start flinging the frisbee and hope it lands in the basket!
Have some old-school fun by creating a Twister board in your backyard. You can use regular spray paint you have on hand (you’ll need at least four different colors) or you can buy some contractor marking spray that will wash away. Create a circle template using a pizza box or large piece of cardboard, then spray your dots. Make the board as small or as large as you want it, depending on how many people may be playing.
You’ll need a Twister spinner, so grab one from the game box or make your own using a piece of card marked with the colors, hands or feet designation and a spinner made from a pencil.
Some Moorhead parks will get an array of skateable features this summer, thanks to a community effort to revive skateboarding in Moorhead. Since late last year, a local group of active and former skateboarders has been working to transport, refurbish and coordinate placement for a donated collection of skatepark components from Watertown, SD. Construction begins on a replacement concrete park in Watertown in June of this year.
With the group, Moorhead Parks has identified at least three locations to implement the skateparks including Hjemkomst Landing, 202 1st Ave N; Queens Park, 3201 20th St; and concrete slabs at Romkey Park, 800 19th St S.
Moorhead Parks and Recreation has also partnered with local organization Sleep Talk Skate to offer Skateboarding Camps in two sessions, June 3-11 and July 15-23, for youth K-12. Registrants will team up with experienced skateboarders to learn kick turns, balance and board control, ollies and dropping in before working on other new tricks and skills. Learn more and register at moorheadparks.com!
