FEBRUARY 2018

PAUL THINKING THOUGHTS Hey Dudes and Dudettes, I hope my words find you well. What month January has been. New and exciting events occurred that enhanced the creative energies that are prominent throughout the local area where I live. You’ll be able to read summaries about them later in this issue of our magazine and find links to full articles about my adventures on our website. But, I would like to say that these journeys into the events I discovered has energized my creative soul and I hope you’ll join with me in exploring more as the year progresses. As you can see by our listings for the months to come, a great number of wonderful things will be happening in the arts. However, I think the most exciting endeavor is one Skip Scheetz who is one of the two men who rescued the The Pocono Cinema (presently the Pocono Cinema and Cultural Center) from oblivion and Richard Spezzano who is past president of The PoconoArts Council are working together to create The Pocono Center for the Arts www.poconocenterforthearts.org. This is way beyond cool and I plan to attend the community meetings that are being planned as I write this. I’ll be sure to let you know through Facebook (Please feel free to Like The Forwardian Gazette’s Page and/or be my friend) and in the next issue of this magazine so you’ll have an opportunity to become involved in this gargantuan project. Speaking of “liking,” I am pleased to announce that Linda Zak has won our photography and art competition for January with her photographic piece titled, “Winter sunset.” Her photo will be included in the Forwardian Galleria that will be presented in the next issue of our sister publication Forwardian which is a Literary and Art Magazine. Ms. Zak won the contest as her work received the most likes from those who visited The Forwardian On Line Gallery we have on Facebook. We’ll be accepting entries for our February Competition from Thursday February 1 st to the 14th and the voting (Liking) to determine this month’s winner will take place from February 15th to the 20th. Please feel free to enter your work and invite your friends to vote for your image. You’ll find the group at www.facebook.com/groups/forwardianonlinegallery. Speaking of Magazines, I added links to our website’s front page that will enable those who are willing and able to donate funds to our publications so we can create printed versions of our magazines to do so more easily. I’ve set up a Gofundme account along with our Paypal account to facilitate the process. Our financial goal to publish our magazines is $210 and we’ve already received $50. I’m very thankful for the contribution and I hope to receive the remaining amount soon. Please help if you can. Well, that’s all from me for now. How are you? Please feel free to ask me any questions you may have about this publication, The Forwardian Arts Society, or anything at all. I promise to tell you everything. I would make a terrible spy. I look forward to hearing from you soon and I'll keep a good thought for you until then. Going Forwardian with you Paul Adam Smeltz The Forwardian Arts Society

A Renegade Farewell to 2017 Written by Paul Adam Smeltz A wonderful array of food, wine, and music greeted the multitude of revelers as they entered The Renegade Winery in Stroudsburg, PA who held their New Year's Eve Celebration which began on Sunday December 31st and continued onto the early hours of January 1st. The welcoming warmth the venue has become known for touched the souls of the gathering as the frigid outdoor temperatures gave way to the congenial mood of camaraderie and joy. This was enhanced by the cuisine provided by individuals who attended the party and the music explored by DJ José Santamaria whose Nocturnal Rhythms moved those who heard its siren call to dance. The evening was filled with munching, sipping, and dancing while the Renegade’s denizens renewed friendships with those they met throughout the previous years while making new friendships that will magnify the wonders to be experienced as the future unfolds. It was during this time did the moment arrive to mark the final moments of 2017 with the welcoming of the year 2018. The New Year Eve Celebration that was taking place in New York City’s Times Square was being projected upon the winery’s wall and many eyes were affixed to the much anticipated countdown. However, quite a number of individuals counted down the final seconds of 2017 on their cell phones with many of them not corresponding to the time keeping abilities of others. The random declarations of “Happy New Year” culminated with the official Times Square dropping of the Annual Ball. It was then signs of affection and good will filled the venue and the hearts of all who were present. The New Year's Celebration held at The Renegade Winery in Stroudsburg, PA proved to be a magnificent way to bring a close to 2017 while opening the many exploratory avenues of 2018. It was an evening not only filled with great music, food, and wine, but with many conversations that enhanced an appreciation of being a part of the human society and all the thoughtful wonders this membership embraces. The Renegade Winery is located in the J. J. Newberry Building on the corner of 6th and Main Street in Stroudsburg, PA with their vineyards located in East Stroudsburg, PA and is considered the first urban concept winery in the Pocono Mountains, PA Region. The winery recently showed The SOHO in the BURG's exhibition titled “Sparks Joy Holiday Art Show” which was on display until January 10 th. Their next exhibition is yet to be announced. The establishment also presents performances on their Renegade Renegade Stage every Friday and Saturday evening along with an open mic nite every Thursday. You'll find more informa-

tion The Renegade Winery and all they have to offer by exploring their Website at www.therenegadewinery.com, their Facebook Page at www.facebook.com/liveloverevoltwinery, or by calling 570-350-2638.
