City or mountains? In Innsbruck, you can have the best of both worlds! Check out the Golden Roof and famous Maria-Theresien-Straße, then take the cable car up the Nordkette mountain from the heart of the city and head for a relaxing walk, a hike, or a mountain bike tour. Back in the centre, sample through all the Tyrolean delights.

Graz

Austria’s second largest city, a lively, modern place in the country’s south, is known for its thriving foodie and cultural scene as well as its Mediterranean vibe. Take a stroll through the UNESCO-awarded historic centre, marvel at the architecture (the Kunsthaus Graz” is a must-see) and sip a cocktail at the Murinsel, a steel construction in the Mur River.

Vienna

Austria’s buzzing capital has been voted the world’s most liveable city many times over. Landmarks such as St Stephen’s Cathedral, Schönbrunn Palace, and the Vienna State Opera are must-visits, then have a cake at one of the many traditional coffee houses, see original works by the likes of Klimt and Schiele at Leopold Museum, and try Viennese schnitzel.
