PASTOR’S THOUGHTS SENIOR PASTOR SAM VALVERDE
HE LIVES! HE LIVES!
REMNANT NIGHT! Saturday, April 12, 2014 5:00pm in the sanctuary
“And as they were afraid, and bowed down their faces to the earth, they said unto them, Why seek ye the living among the dead?” Luke 24:5 On Sunday, April 20, 2014 we will once again celebrate the glorious resurrection of Jesus Christ. More than 2000 years ago Jesus was tortured on the cross and buried, but three days later he rose again. That changed everything! Because HE LIVES we have security for today and hope for tomorrow. Because HE LIVES we have eternal life. Because HE LIVES we have the opportunity to share this life and hope with others. MATTHEW DINNER For that reason we are once again inviting all FTC members who know this living Christ to share him with others in a friendly and effective manner. I encourage you to invite a few FTC friends and together plan a dinner similar to the one Matthew (Levi) celebrated with his friends: “And Levi made him a great feast in his own house: and there was a great company of publicans and of others that sat down with them.” Luke 5:29 Invite some those attending your Life Group and/or co-workers, neighbors or school mates. You may be surprised how many people will accept a sincere invitation to share a meal and some good conversation. Dinners can be planned between April 1 and April 19, 2014. For details and more information, pick up a Matthew Dinner packet at the bookstore beginning Sunday, March 30, 2013 or go to www.fountainoftruth.com. ELEPHANTS IN THE HOUSE Every year about April my Dad would get into, from my perspective, the dreaded springcleaning mode. We would haul carpets, couches, chairs and mattresses outside “for the sun to burn off impurities” (his words) that had accumulated during the winter months. We would wash, scrub and sterilize the furniture. While our stuff was being purified by “sun rays and fresh air, (again, his words) the crew, comprised of my brother and me, would give the floors, closets and hallways a deep cleansing. I remember that some items that “did not deserve to come back into the house” (You guessed it, his words) were replaced by new items. Some things had to be taken out, cleaned and returned; others had to be replaced. Sometimes some members of the family did not even want to talk about disposing of a favorite but unusable or unsightly piece of furniture.
BIRTHDAY BLESSINGS
to our SENIOR PASTOR Samuel Valverde! FTC is priviledged to have the BEST pastor in the world! Also, Happy Birthday to Sammy D, son of Sam Jr & Celeste Valverde and the 1st grandson of the Valverde family. He turns 4 this year! May God’s blessing always be upon you!
FTC IS GOING TO HONDURAS!
A group of volunteers are going to celebrate a Summer Camp in Honduras for orphans from the La Esperanza Orphanage. Partnering with Medical Brigade we are reaching out to the “fatherless” obeying a biblical mandate. So, if you are interested in being a blessing and making a difference, send Sis. Rachel Valverde an email to: rachv57@aol.com or attend meeting on Sunday, March 30 @ 3pm in Room 206. Honduras dates are July 5-12, 2014
PASTOR’S THOUGHTS
SWAG - Junior High Ministry
The church must also do Spring cleaning and allow the Son’s rays and the Spirits freshness to purify it. However, there are some things most everyone would rather left unmentioned, not dealt with. Some of these subjects have become elephants in the room. The slogan “elephant in the room” was probably coined in the United States on or before the 1950’s. The phrase refers to an important and obvious topic, which everyone present is aware of, but that isn’t discussed, as such discussion is considered to be uncomfortable. This month we will expose four elephants that have camouflaged themselves smack in the middle of the church - God’s House. APRIL 6, 2014 - HARVEST SUNDAY Sunday of Baptisms. A new beginning! APRIL 13, 2014 - LESSONS FROM AMBOSELI’S AFRICAN ELEPHANTS (WHAT HAPPENED TO THE LOVE FOR GOD’S WORD?) Have you ever received a love letter from a person about which you feel passionate? The recipient reads and re-reads the letter from every angle, reads between the lines and then reads it again. Then they share it passionately with their friends. Christians who are in love with their Lord read and study the God’s love letter to us, the Bible. What has happened to the love for the Word of God? The church ministers, sings, does...but does the church still feel passionate about the word? Pastor Abel Gonzalez’s message will motivate the church to go back to the word! APRIL 20, 2014 - THE BIGGEST ELEPHANT (WHAT HAPPENED TO THE CROSS?) Dr. Michael Brown writes: “Who changed things? Who changed things from the vibrant, Spirit-empowered “by life or by death” faith of the New Testament to today’s spineless home-and-garden Sunday-morning religion? Who changed things from “Leave everything and follow Me” (see Luke 14:33) to “Pray this little prayer and you’re set for eternity”? Who changed things from “All who live godly lives in Christ Jesus will suffer persecution” (see 2 Tim. 3:12) to “Ask Jesus into your heart and enjoy a comfortable life”? Who changed things from a fearless proclamation of the truth, whatever the cost or consequences, to a watered down, compromised message that is afraid to offend anyone?” People love to hear about the Christ’s cross on Easter Sunday. This Sunday I will preach about the cross every person must take up daily, after a good dose of self-denial, in order to be a true disciple. Bring a friend APRIL 27, 2014 - MAMMOTHS AND MASTODONS, EXTINCT ORDER OF PROBOSCIDEA (WHAT HAPPENED TO HOLINESS?) God possesses it. Jesus was declared the Son of God with power, according to the spirit of it. He wants us to be partakers of it. He called us to it; it is something we are instructed to perfect. It is a written and established biblical fact that without it, no one will see the Lord (Hebrews 12:14). Yet it seems that holiness is becoming extinct in the church. We should all heed to the warnings in this message... Respectfully,
Pastor Sam Valverde
