EASTER 2015 LIFE GROUPS THE REMNANT

PASTOR’S THOUGHTS SENIOR PASTOR SAM VALVERDE

Simplify+ SIMPLY CHRIST d

“But I fear, lest by any means, as the serpent beguiled Eve through his subtilty, so your minds should be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ.” II Corinthians 11:3 On the first Sunday of April the church at large celebrates the most important day in the history of mankind - the day Jesus Christ resurrected from the dead. The story is not complicated; in fact it is quite simple. God created Adam and Eve in order to enjoy a true relationship with them. He gave them the option to cultivate this friendship or to disobey his one command. Because they chose to disobey, sin entered into their lives and resulted in mankind’s separation from God which ends in death and eternal condemnation. The only way to resolve this tragedy was for God to come to earth (incarnation) in the form of a man, and shed his blood on the cross. His sacrificial death offered mankind a way out, thus Jesus became Lord and savior to those who believe and obey his word. Simple, isn’t it? Paul feared that the same Devil that subtly deceived Eve would in the same manner corrupt his church from the simplicity of Christ. The apostle did not want the minds of believers to be corrupted (or led away, depraved, destroyed, perish) from the simplicity that is in Christ. Now, what does that mean? Simplicity is defined as singleness, sincerity and mental honesty. It is the virtue of one who is free from pretense, hypocrisy and dissimulation. Digging just a little deeper it means “not self-seeking, openness of heart manifesting itself in generosity.” This month’s message series will encourage us to simplify various aspects of our life and theology. At times churches are accused of being too complicated; there is truth to that statement. To simplify does not mean to dumb down anything, it means to focus on what is effective and necessary. You may have heard that the fast food chain McDonalds is experiencing financial problems. On the contrary, the In-N-Out Burger chain is booming – just notice the drive-through and indoor lines. Some have stated that McDonalds has diluted its menu with “McEverything” while In-N-Out simply offers a two item menu: burgers and fries.

SWAG - Junior High Ministry The Story of Cain and Abel, Genesis 4:1-12 “Don’t be a fool, Keep your cool” The bible tells us that the Lord accepted Abel’s first fruit but rejected Cain’s. Because of this, Cain became so enraged and jealous at Abel that he killed him and tried hiding from his actions. God saw Cain’s anger and understood his pain. He even offered to help him so that he would become pleasing to God. He was given a choice. The same can be true for our sons and daughters who from time to time find themselves with their emotions out of control. It almost seems that they wear their emotions on their sleeves. It seems that the minute they are told what to do by their parents they burst into anger. If this type of behavior goes unchecked, this can have lifelong consequences. It is through these series that we are going to talk about “checking our attitude at the door” and help create emotional constraints that will help them make wise decision even when they are upset. It is important to realize that explosive attitudes are dangerous and unpleasing to God. The story of Cain and Able will be taught to our SWAG juniors on April 12 and 26, 2015 during our Sunday school classes. We ask your prayers over this series. In His Service, Bro. Elias & Sis Lourdes Escamilla, SWAG Juniors Directors

LIFE GROUPS

FROM HOUSE TO HOUSE The FTC Life Group Department is excited about the month of April! During the off semester, we are offering a series entitled, from “House to House”. Life Group Leaders have made their homes available, and this is a time to come out and experience Fountain of Truth Life Groups in action. PASTOR’S THOUGHTS

Spring is around the corner. This month let’s take inventory of the clutter and do some theological and practical simplifying. APRIL SERMON SERIES

Thursday, April 9th Esteban and Norma Robledo (MORENO VALLEY) Theme: Practical Biblical Life Skills - We will seek and receive God’s counsel and provision for a life of contentment. (951) 251-2648 / estebansrmail@yahoo.com

Resurrection Sunday, April 5, 2015: “It’s Simple, This Changes Everything!” The cross is the pivotal point of history. X marks the spot. Today we will talk about “BC” and “AC” – before the cross and after the cross. This message will deepen believers’ appreciation for salvation and motive the unbeliever to believe. At the cross someone, something met, embraced and kissed, and because of that we are saved today!

Tuesday, April 14th Roy and Evie Hernandez (RIALTO) Theme: Recovering Redemption – “How Christ Changes Everything” (909) 544-0916 / rogo3r@aol.com

Sunday, April 12, 2015: “The Simplicity of Salvation” Attend church. Sign this card. Pray the sinner’s prayer. Register for this class. Don’t do this, or that. What does salvation mean? Saved from what?

Friday, April 24th Pastor Sam and Sis Rachel (RANCHO CUCAMONGA) Theme: Healing Destructive Emotions - He not only forgives our sins, He heals our minds and emotions. An interactive session (909) 822-5450 / ftcchurchfontana@aol.com Thursday, April 30th Andrew Williams, Psy. D (NORTH FONTANA) Theme: Blending Psychology and Christianity to Enhance Daily Living (626) 392-2279 / awilliamspsyd@aol.com TO REGISTER: Send an email to wendell4me@aol.com, ( The meeting address and time will be emailed back to you.) *Please RSVP for each event separately. This is very important, because if the number registered exceeds available space, the Bible study will be moved FTC. FOR QUESTIONS REGARDING THE LIFE GROUPS, PLEASE CONTACT BRO. WENDELL & SIS. TRACY WRIGHT. wendell4me@aol.com tracy8412@aol.com

Sunday, April 19, 2015: “The Simplicity of Sanctification” The Bible says we are to follow peace with all men, and holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord.” (Hebrews 12:4) The condition (“without which”) to see the Lord is to follow holiness or sanctification. How does one “follow holiness” in this complex world with so many opinions, interpretations and ideas? Sunday, April 26, 2015: “The Simplicity of Service” Ministry (or helping out at the church or community) can become complex and confusing. This rings especially true when we are invited to serve and give in so many areas. How can a person effectively serve God’s Kingdom without feeling torn or guilty and yet maintain balance? Put simply, because he lives,

Pastor Sam Valverde
