PASTOR’S THOUGHTS
REMNANT YOUTH / SWAG - JUNIORS
SENIOR PASTOR SAM VALVERDE
EVERY FEW YEARS “Thou wilt surely wear away, both thou, and this people that is with thee: for this thing is too heavy for thee; thou art not able to perform it thyself alone.” Exodus 18:18 Every few years I adhere to Jethro’s counsel and admit that I cannot do it alone. Moses’ father-in-law observed Moses attending to the people from early morning to late at night and warned him that both he and the people would become weary. Preaching is hard. Believe me, far from complaining, after 30 years of preaching at least twice every Sunday, I respect and admire preachers even more. Some (probably a preacher) have said that preaching 45 minutes is like working 8 hours. Please don’t misunderstand; I love to declare the word of the Lord every Sunday, now three times per Sunday. However, every few years I take the month of August to replenish my own spirit, listen to others and learn more of God’s word. This allows me to recreate energy and prepare for the next season. This may seem to be at odds with our Summer Harvest, work and diligence themes, but rest is also part of the long term commitment. God worked six days and rested on the seventh. Another benefit is that others will get the chance to preach on a Sunday to a wonderful congregation that loves the word of God. I encourage you to pray for our ministers who will pray and fast for God’s message. It is important also for the congregation to hear the anointed voices of those who serve quietly behind the scenes, pray and visit the sick, marry and bury and counsel and pray at the altar. I will be present in the services to be edified by the word. On the last Sunday of August I will close out the month preaching all 3 services. Although the Senior Pastor is mandated by God to feed the flock, it is God’s word that is important, not the vessel who serves it. FTC, let us enjoy the gifts God has blessed us with! Anticipating great blessings,
Pastor Sam Valverde
BACK TO SCHOOL NIGHT Join us for a SPECIAL BACK TO SCHOOL NIGHT for our Generation SWAG Students on Friday, September 5th @ 7:pm in the sanctuary. It will be a powerful night filled with God’s Amazing Grace, surprises & a VIP pizza party.
AUGUST FROM OUR 1ST LADY RACHEL VALVERDE
Greetings Fountain of Truth! Some important tidbits for our church: 1. Sonia Valverde will be the new director of the Cry Room. Sonia is a new mommy who understands the importance of having an innovative and useful room where children and parents can refocus during service. If you would like to help her in any way, please contact her. 2. Fountain of Truth in partnership with El Sol Non-Profit Organization will be hosting ESL - English as a Second Language, US Citizenship Classes and GED (General Education Development). They will be held on Tuesdays and Thursdays evenings beginning August 19th at 6:30pm. The classes will be offered to the community but first choice is for FTC members. Sign ups now available after Sunday services in the lobby. ***FREE*** God Bless you!

Our missionary trip to an Honduras Orphanage wasa huge blessing! The children were blessed with your donations of blankets and shoes and a special treat of pizza. Their smiles were priceless! Our staff had full days with the children including learning songs, doing crafts, playing games and hearing biblical teaching.
AUGUST SERIES: THE HARVEST IS TRULY PLENTEOUS August 3, 2014: Introduction: Minister Noah Leon Pastor Abel Gonzalez - “THE ALL SUFFICIENCY OF CHRIST” Harvesting is an effort of the will, one of exertion and struggle. Yet, in the case of harvesting the fruits of the Gospel, we find that it is not the advancement of personal endeavor, but the reaction to its kindness. Because of this, before we find ourselves with our hands on the plow, let us turn to consider the all sufficient work of Christ and its ability to fuel our kingdom work. August 10, 2014: Introduction: Minister Steve Chaparro Pastor Abel Gonzalez - “ARISE WITH A SHOUT AND PURSUE” In light of the all sufficient work of Christ, we as believers have the ability to live a life of liberty and joy, as noted by our jubilant worship. This then begs the question of whether we are only to live a life of worship. While worship is an innate reaction to salvation, it is coupled with a missionary mandate. The perpetual nature of the work of Christ not only serves to liberate the believer, but also affords the ability to be an instrument of liberation in the lives of others. August 17, 2014: Introduction: Pastor Gabriel Guerra Assistant Pastor Patrick Cisneros – “TREASURE IN EARTHEN VESSELS” We all can make a difference in God’s Kingdom. Yes, we all can carry light into the darkness; and offer the water that can nourish the thirsty soul like nothing else. Despite our imperfect conditions, our past failures, or even our very own doubt within us, there is treasure in earthen vessels that make themselves available to God!
