PASTOR’S THOUGHTS SENIOR PASTOR SAMUEL VALVERDE
YOU DON’T HAVE TO WAIT ‘TIL SUNDAY! “For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them.” Matthew 18:20
“Let’s go to church.” / “I’ll meet you at the church.” / “Where do you attend church?” “What a beautiful church!” All of the above statements are commonly used by Christians in relation to some type of sincere religious conversations connected to the concept of a place or a building. However, in the New Testament, the term “church” was never used to refer a place or building; it always refers to the people that make up the body of Christ. The word “church” was first used by Christ in Matthew 16:18, He would “build his church.” Other scriptures talk about “the Lord added to the church” (Acts 2:47) and that “great fear that came upon the church” (Acts 5:11) The word “church” [Greek: ekklesia] is made up of two Greek words that mean [ek] “out of”, “away from” and [kaleo] “to call aloud”. The word “church” then refers to those who have been called out or away from. The extension of this concept is that the church is formed of people who have been called out from the world, sin and self and now belong to the body of Christ. OK, enough Greek for a month! The point is that biblically speaking the term “church” does not refer to a place, a building or a sanctuary, but to the gathering or assembling of people, in his name. All God needs is two or three to be gathered in His name, and He promised to be there in the midst of them! So, what’s the big deal pastor? Here it is: Community Life Groups are not a program or a ministry or thing we do, such as a scheduled event or religious program. Life Groups are the church. They are not part of a program, they are the program. In the New Testament there were not any church buildings as we have today – they met in the temple (In the porch of the Jewish synagogue, Acts 5:12) and mainly in the homes. Every time CLGs meet in someone’s living room, they are meeting as the church. This is huge. All of the blessings, authority, miracles, moves of God and any other divine promise are as much the CLG’s as they are Sunday’s celebration service! You don’t have to wait till Sunday, to give or receive. Do it in a CLG!
God bless,
COMMUNITY LIFE GROUPS

LADIES DEPARTMENT FROM SIS. RACHEL VALVERDE, SENIOR PASTOR’S WIFE Dear Ladies, Hope you all had a wonderful May! The Ladies department has been celebrating some exciting and rewarding activities. The “Joy of Mothering” Seminar was awesome! Sis. Blanca Gonzalez ministered to our hearts and brought forth the word of God in a more meaningful manner. We all cried as Sis. Missy Valverde interviewed Sis. Connie Zavala on the trials and hardships of raising four boys as a single parent. It was a beautiful morning. In the same theme of “Joy”, we will be celebrating a “Vigil” on Friday, June 17th from 9:00 p.m. to 12:00 a.m. Please don’t miss out on this glorious event. Don’t forget to keep filling your “Missions Box” ! The months go by quickly! Special thanks to the Ladies’ Board for their continued work and great spirits.
