Introducing the new identity of Fountain of Truth Apostolic Church:
With an emphasis on transformation we took a modern, timeless approach to identify the living water that is in us. It begins with a drop. Read more about it on our website. Special thanks to PlainJoe Studios.
PASTOR’S THOUGHTS
SENIOR PASTOR SAMUEL VALVERDE
“These can all be lived out in a small group setting” • Pastor Samuel Valverde, Inside FTC Booklet
It was January of 2009. The excitement was in the air. Everything smelled new. Everyone was anticipating our grand opening and last minutes preparations were being made. The Inside FTC Booklet was arranged neatly on the lobby tables and on the bulletin rack. The booklet introduced the Pastoral Core and staff and it laid out our 5 church purposes: Passion for God – desperate seeking of his presence. Love for People – demonstrated love for others Equipping Leaders – discovering spiritual gifts Penetrating Evangelism – deliberate sharing of the Gospel Healthy Families – duty to keep family wellness. You’ll notice that I did not quote a bible verse this month; I quoted myself. For in that same booklet, almost in small print is the phrase: “These can all be lived out in a small group setting” What does that mean? Before I answer, let me remind you of two important functional words at FTC: CELEBRATION - This is what we do on Sundays. We gather together corporately to worship the Lord and to receive biblical instruction. The worship must be lively, full of praise, song, and uplifted hands. The music must be good, really good – the praise team full of life. We gather here on the 1st day of the week to celebrate that Jesus is alive, he resurrected from the grave and lives for evermore. We join the Isaiah 6 seraphim (angels) and proclaim to one another: He is holy and the earth is full of his glory! It is a time to embrace God, embrace our beliefs and embrace each other. PASTOR’S THOUGHTS continued... Then comes the word. It must be, must be, anointed, inspired uplifting and should serve for edification, exhortation and comfort as prescribed in 1 Corinthians 14:1. This is the meat of the service, the instruction of the word of God. CELL OR COMMUNITY LIFE GROUPS – This is what we do during the week. We get together in the homes to pray, fellowship, share the word and share fellowship. It is a place where 3 things should happen:
We cultivate our relationship with God. This happens through prayer, meditation, reading the bible and worship.
We cultivate our relationship with each other. Just the 8 or 10 of us. We pray, listen, care and reach out to one another. This includes fellowship and breaking of bread, sharing a bite and share our life – that is – living life together.
We grow as a church. A warm environment saturated with God’s love and people who care will be very inviting to those who are lonely, depressed, rejected or traversing a season of suffering and pain. For them, the teaching doesn’t have to be perfect, the songs don’t have to be just right. They just need to know someone cares.
So, what does: “These can all be lived out in a small group setting” mean? It means that our 5 purposes are not just meant to function at the Sunday’s Celebration. We can have passion for God at our CLG group. We can demonstrate love for others, at our CLG group. We can equip leaders and be equipped to serve, at our CLG group. We can do penetrating evangelisms, at our CLG group. We can cultivate a healthy family, at our CLG group. I encourage you! If you are not consistently attending Sunday’s Celebration, don’t miss out! If you are not connected to a CLG group, don’t miss out! Blessings,
