PASTOR’S THOUGHTS SENIOR PASTOR SAM VALVERDE

αὐτόματος “And he said, So is the kingdom of God, as if a man should cast seed into the ground; And should sleep, and rise night and day, and the seed should spring and grow up, he knoweth not how. For the earth bringeth forth fruit of herself; first the blade, then the ear, after that the full corn in the ear.” Mark 4:26-28

OUR MONTHLY THEME

We plan on launching a few new groups in the next couple of weeks. We’re preparing.

T

hat scary looking word up there is automatos, which means: “of herself.” Jesus was explaining that the Kingdom is similar to a farmer that scatters seed in the ground and then goes to sleep. After a few days the seed springs up - blade, ear and full corn - and the farmer does not know how it grew. All by itself the soil produces grain which is to be cut down at the harvest. That is fascinating! The good Lord’s earth, of herself (automatos or automatically) produces grain. All the farmer has to do is scatter the seed. But what if the farmer refuses to scatter the seed? What if he is distracted, busy, involved or just plain slothful? Conclusion: no scattering of seed equals no harvest. What a waste of the earth’s potential. Jesus shared this concept centuries ago. Fast forward to FTC 2012. Every few months I invite FTC members to scatter seed. We enter into a cycle (can I use Evangelistic Cycle without boring you?) of plowing - planting - watering - fertilizing and harvesting. All we have to do is scatter the seed. Paul said that one plants, another waters, but God gives the increase. (I Corinthians 3:6, 7). God even gives us the seed (“Now may he who supplies seed to the sower...” II Corinthians 9:10)...all we have to do is scatter it!

YOUNG ADULT/STUDENT PRAYER NIGHT

CONTINUATION OF “PASTOR’S THOUGHTS’

This month, on June 3 we are going to celebrate a Friends Day Harvest. Those who have scattered seed, planted a word in someone’s heart, even as simple as an “I’m praying for you” will discover that God will give the increase of the Gospel to your friends and relatives. If you did not get involved in this cycle, there is another one coming soon. Let us not waste God’s good potential! Waiting for God’s increase,

Pastor Sam Valverde

Worship Lifestyle: You may notice some “joyful” worship during our celebration service. The Bible says in Psalm 100 to “make a joyful noise unto the Lord, all ye lands.” Serve the Lord with gladness: come before his presence with singing.” When we gather as a body we sing joyfully with gladness unto the Lord. You may see people with their hands lifted up or even shouting and crying. Do not be alarmed as this is a way of expressing our worship and gratitude unto the Lord. Some people get very excited; if it’s too much you can ask to be moved to a different seat. Attire: You may notice that our ladies wear a veil. We practice this custom according to 1 Corinthians 11:6. If you see ladies dressed modestly, it’s because the Bible instructs it in 1 Timothy 2:9. We identify with these practices as a Church body. However, you are welcome just as you are. Speaking in Tongues: 1 Corinthians 14:22 says: “tongues are a sign for unbelievers...” At FTC, we believe in speaking in tongues as the Spirit gives us utterance. Although, the complete service does not consist of speaking in tongues, there is a time for it, and a time to be still and listen to the Word of God. Everything we do is Biblical and in order. You may see someone very expressive, while others remain quiet before the Lord. We encourage you to open your heart and let God speak to you. We’d like you important the worship or to it. Will you with Christ?

to know that the most factor in your visit is not Word but how you respond respond to a relationship
