PASTOR’S THOUGHTS SENIOR PASTOR SAM VALVERDE

*EVERY HOUSE A CHURCH... EVERY MEMBER A MINISTER* “And they, continuing daily with one accord in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house...” Acts 2:46 The early church met primarily in two places: the temple (Jewish synagogue) and in the homes. In fact, church buildings did not appear until late in the fourth century. During biblical times the word church referred to the church body of believers and not a building. This body of believers was not centralized in one building, but met to study, pray, have communion and fellowship in the houses. Today the church finds itself centralized in a building, on a given day (Sunday) and even calls the sanctuary “the church.” It is time to decentralize! The way to accomplish this is to make every house a church. At 5401 Citrus Ave we have one main door, one pulpit, one altar and pretty much one preacher at a time. If every house became a church, we would have about 500 pulpits, altars and preachers! How can this be done? It is not that difficult. Every Father is encouraged to establish and maintain a weekly family devotion (Yes you can!) by reading the bible to his family and lead them in prayer. Small families can join together (Hey, there’s a Life Group!) and all families can invite their friends and neighbor. FTC would light up the Inland Empire overnight! This month’s messages will help to inspire, motivate and train all families to make a church out of their house and a minister out of every head of household. EVERY HOUSE A CHURCH Sunday, June 1, 2014 - Oikos (2 Timothy 2:20) The message will define this important Greek word and apply it as it relates to our immediate and our extended family. God’s salvation extends to the 3rd and 4th generation. The gospel cannot die with grandma and grandma. We will visit Joshua 4 and set up memorials so that when our children ask (and they will) we will have a biblical and relevant answer for them.

CAMP VALOR II Attention all boys ages 12 - 16 Registration will remain open through June 29, 2014. The cost is $70.00 per cadet with a non-refundable $25.00 registration deposit. FATHER’S DAY Celebration Worship Service Sunday, June 15,2014 10am Be ready for the 3rd Annual Father’s Day awards!

SPIRITUAL RETREAT Saturday, June 7, 2014 9am - 12pm For all those interested in water baptism and especially for anyone seeking a time of personal renewal! Call church office to register.

WE’RE GOING CASUAL AT TIRE FOR THE SUMMER! ( Yes, we still wear suits and ties on a Sunday)

Sunday, June 8, 2014 - Exalting Wisdom (Proverbs 4:7, 8) We can teach our kids many things by sharing information, training a skill, or correcting immaturity. Yet true wisdom is a trait that cannot be taught but must be received by an individual only through Scripture. What can we do to assist our children in acquiring wisdom? Sunday, June 15, 2014 - From Generation to Generation (Ezekiel 18:4) Excuse me Dad, please write your epitaph. Fathers and Grandfathers must begin working on their legacy now. What story’s testimonies, values and roadmaps are we leaving our families? Let us reverse the trends and raise up a godly generation. Sunday, June 22, 2014 - Me and My House (Joshua 24) It was time to choose. Joshua summoned the people and challenged them to choose, once and for all, if they were going to serve the Lord or their idols. In fact, he discouraged them to commit their lives to the Lord. We are living in a time where lines have become blurred; the church, led by Fathers, must choose. Sunday, June 30, 2014 - Vessels of Honor and Dishonor (2 Timothy 2:20) Let’s face it; our families are imperfect - there are secrets, shadows, skeletons in the closets and halls of fame and halls of shame. How do we live and serve God with family dysfunctions, dark shadowy characters and vileness in are homes. How does one handle the “vessels of dishonor”? This message will help us find solutions so that in spite of our shortcomings, our house can continue to be a church for the glory of God. As you can see, much of June we will focus on the mandates of the fathers. The only way for any every house to become a church is for every father to become a minister. Happy Father’s Day!

Pastor Sam Valverde
