HAPPY FATHER’S DAY! REMNANT FTCA 1ST GRADUATION CEREMONY

PASTOR’S THOUGHTS SENIOR PASTOR SAM VALVERDE d

RELEXIONS If the ax is dull and its edge unsharpened, more strength is needed, but skill will bring success.” Ecclesiastes 10:10

SWAG / MOTHER’S DAY NATIONAL WOMEN’S CONFERENCE The CA conference will be held here at FTC. Registration $89 ($74 if paid by July 15)

Two lumberjacks start cutting down trees early in the morning. The men are of the same size and weight and wield the same size axe. At the end of the same day one drags himself home, exhausted after a long day of work, heading home to eat and go to bed - he cut down seven trees. The other, walks home with a spring in his step and is thinking of a few projects that need completion at home. Plus, he promised his wife he would take her for ice cream after dinner. He chopped down a dozen trees. Same size, same skill, same size axe, same forest, same day - different results. The difference? A sharp verses a dull axe.

www.heartandsoulconference.com

With a dull axe more strength is needed. One is prone to become weary. This principle is true in all aspects of life. Let’s sharpen our axe and use our skill that will bring success.

Friday, June 5, 2015 11pm - 6am

USHER & TRAFFIC MINISTRY Overnight Prayer

CONGRATULATIONS GRADUATES! Graduating students sharpened their axe and are now seeing one part of their reward - graduation. John Maxwell calls this “The Law of Process.” These students worked hard all year long, studied long days and into the night, and now they will proudly walk to receive their diplomas. We applaud you! We will have Graduate Recognitions on Sunday, July 12th. Look for more details via our weekly eblasts and Sunday announcements. If you want more information, please call our church office. FOUNTAIN OF TRUTH CHRISTIAN ACADEMY (FTCA) On Sunday, June 7th we will be promoting FTCA at our Celebration Services. Pastor Phil Raya will speak about the importance of Christian Education. We must train up our children in the way they should go - that path is one of godliness and character. If we teach our children how to live, they will know how to make a living. The FTCA student body will be making a presentation in the services.

PASTOR’S THOUGHTS

LIFE GROUPS Blah, blah, blah - blah, blah, blah is what many people hear when Life Groups are mentioned. However, more and more I am convinced at the importance of connecting, belonging to and attending a Life Group. Remember the old hanging clothes lines your Grandma would use to dry the wash? Sometimes they would hang low in the middle because the poles were too far apart. Life can become dull and droopy between Sundays; a vibrant mid-week Life Group will take the dullness out of our week. Join one today and be consistent! SUMMER IS COMING! Another way to sharpen the axe is to learn from the ant. Listen to wise Solomon (Proverbs 6:6-8): Go to the ant, you sluggard; consider its ways and be wise! 7 It has no commander, no overseer or ruler, 8 yet it stores its provisions in summer and gathers its food at harvest Enjoy your summer, but don’t forget to “store your provisions.” In other words, do something effective. Besides going on vacation, accomplish that task you’ve been putting off. Whether it’s that backyard project, restoring the car, painting the house or redoing the garage - do it! Spiritually, read through the Bible, take that prolonged fast or visit that friend you promised to share the Gospel with. Enjoy a few hazy, lazy days of summer, but don’t let it be dull. HAPPY FATHER’S DAY Finally, I bless all Fathers. You face many battle fronts on a daily basis job related stress, marriage and family relations, health issues, leadership challenges, business decisions, ministry tasks - not to mention the responsibility of being the priest and spiritual leader of your home. That is a tall order. You support your family, your church and your community - many times with a smile. May God bless you with his multiple blessings! Have a wonderful and well-deserved celebrated day! God bless,

Pastor Sam Valverde

FROM OUR LIFE GROUP DIRECTOR

LIFE GROUPS The Lord God Omnipotent reigneth! I am excited about the buzz of Life Groups, and about the direction that the Lord is leading this ministry in. This semester, our Life Groups are studying the theme, “Connected” - to Christ, to the kingdom of God, and to the church. Did you know that you are a chosen generation? Specifically chosen, which means hand-picked by God. You are special. I once heard of an independent person that did not want any help installing Christmas lights on the roof of a two-story home. He allowed everyone to leave because he was a loner and wanted to do it all by himself. So as the story goes, his family went to the mall. He installed a large string of lights then realized that he needed something that was down on the ground. He moved towards where the ladder had been, however the ladder was not there. He went to pull his cell phone out, but he had left it in the garage. He didn’t want to jump down because he could injure himself. So he had to stay on the roof top for hours. Finally the family came home and he was so excited to see them. They helped him with the ladder so he could come down to join the family. What is the significance of this story for FTC? This is an invitation to everyone who is on the roof alone – FTC Life Groups are here to help you with the ladder. Join one today. Your participation will strengthen you, bring Glory to God, and be an encouragement to someone else. Fountain of Truth, we are on the threshing floor of even greater things. The Life Group Department is preparing to launch a Life Group that is ALL about the Holy Ghost - how to receive it, what happens when it comes, and its significance in our lives. This Life Group will be a place where you can learn more about the Holy Spirit, get answers to your questions, and have opportunities to tarry to receive it. So if you or someone you know, is seeking for the Holy Ghost, this LG is for you. Get ready - help is on the way! You can personally call me or email me if you are interested.
