PASTOR’S THOUGHTS SENIOR PASTOR SAM VALVERDE

FAITH “Nevertheless when the Son of man cometh, shall he find faith on the earth?” Luke 18:8 In February the messages and seminars revolved around family and marriage relationships. Besides the marriage seminar, we also celebrated our first singles banquet in a long time. I encourage all to continue cultivating healthy family relationships. As Nehemiah declared: We will fight for our families and our wives! (Nehemiah 4:14)

REMNANT NIGHT! Saturday, March 22, 2014 5:00pm in the sanctuary Don’t miss out!

In March let us turn our attention to the topic of faith. It is evident that faith is very important to God. • • • • •

Without it, it is impossible to please Him! It is a requirement to “come to God.” (Hebrews 1:6) According to Luke, faith is what Jesus will be looking for when He returns. The just live by it. (Hab. 2:4 and Romans 2:17) Jesus used the adjectives “no”, “little” and “great” to describe his pleasure and displeasure at various types of faith. (Matthew 6:30, 8:10,26; Mark 4:40) • Mustard grain size faith can move a mountain to “yonder.” • Faith can increase (Luke 17:5), be cast off (I Tim. 5:12); one can err from it (I Tim. 6:10); it can be feigned or unfeigned (I Tim. 1:5), kept (2 Tim 4:7) and mixed (Hebrews4:2).

FASTING DAY Sunday, March 23, 2014 6am

WHAT IS FAITH? Does it come from God, or does it come from me? What does it mean that “faith comes from hearing, and hearing from the word of God”? These and many other questions related to faith will be discussed in this month’s sermons series: FAITH Sunday, March 2, 2014 - “What you looking at?” (Strong, saving faith) This message, based on the 4th chapter of Romans, will show how we are to receive and react towards God’s promises. A 100 year old man did not look at his physical condition, but believed God. This was demonstrated by what he did not see! “And being not weak in faith, he considered not his own body now dead, when he was about an hundred years old, neither yet the deadness of Sara’s womb…” Romans 4:19 Sunday, March 9, 2014 – Pastor Phil Raya- “Nowhere to Be Found” Oh the frustration of looking for misplaced keys! You know they’re close by but it’s beyond your remembrance and visibility. Miracle-producing faith is close by just clouded by life’s circumstance. “And he said unto them, ‘Where is your faith?’” Luke 8:25

WELCOME MADELYNN GRACE VALVERDE! Congratulations to our Celebration and Youth Pastor Tim & Sonia Valverde on the birth of their daughter MADELYNN GRACE VALVERDE. Maddie is the 1st granddaughter for Senior Pastor & Sis. Rachel Valverde.

RECAP / “JUST BECAUSE”

A lot happened at FTC last month! An effective Marriage Seminar was held with Dr. Joel Dominguez ministering to the couples who attended. I would highly encourage couples who did not attend this seminar, to make an effort to join us in the upcoming months! Special thanks to coordinators - Alex and Monica Ayala and their awesome committee. Things were hopping at the Valentines Day Singles Bash! After some prayer and word, everyone started mingling and the evening was a great mix for the many souls who attended. Sis. Mitzi Aguirre and committee did an awesome job decorating and creating an awesome atmosphere of companionship for the singles who otherwise would have spent a lonely evening. Great job! JUST BECAUSE It’s not thanksgiving... or Christmas ... FTC is holding a community outreach just because we want to share with our community. We will be having a clothes giveaway, free haircuts for boys, a bag of groceries for every family and a hot plate of food. There will be jumpers for the children but more importantly, a special prayer tent will be set up to offer hope and a prayer to everyone who comes! Don’t miss out on having the opportunity to serve your community. Please sign up at the Just Because Table in the lobby. We need lots of volunteers, clothes and shoes. We need you. Sincerely,

Raquel Valverde

PASTOR’S THOUGHTS Sunday, March 16, 2014 – “Now” Faith, there is no other kind! Hebrews 11 provides a list of testimonies of “now” faith. It is bursting with live stories about ordinary people who did ordinary things, by faith. “Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.” Hebrews 11:1

Sunday, March 23, 2014 – “And others…” What am I to do when I believe, pray, wait patiently, pray more and still nothing? It seems that my prayers are not being heard and they certainly aren’t being answered. What to do when God is silent… “And others had trial of cruel mockings and scourgings, yea, moreover of bonds and imprisonment.” Hebrews 11:36 WELCOME PASTOR PATRICK AND SISTER JUDY - ASSISTANT PASTORS It is my pleasure to introduce Fountain of Truth’s English congregation new Assistant Pastors. Patrick and Judy Cisneros were baptized at the old Slover Ave. church in 1997. Pastor Patrick began his construction trade career as a young man and has worked his way up from superintendent, to project manager and is currently the Director of Facilities and Planning at Desert Sands Unified School District. He has served Los Angeles County and Inland Empire communities by managing several general obligation bond programs for educational facilities. Pastor Patrick was instrumental in managing the planning, design and construction of our current building. However, the Cisneros’ have a greater love in building the Kingdom of God. Patrick was initiated to the Apostolic Ministry in 2005 and was ordained in 2007. Patrick has served at Fountain of Truth as Traffic Ministry Director, President of the Men’s Auxiliary, New Converts Pastor, and Community Life Group Pastor. For the past two years the Cisneros’ have directed the Journey which has shown fruit with over 70 baptisms. Pastor Patrick has the unique ability to build and manage teams that serve in various ministries. He has mentored many young men who wish to serve in ministry. Sister Judy has also been an exceptional help to my wife and to all of FTC. She served as President of the Women’s Auxiliary for several years; she works alongside her husband as an excellent host and coordinator. Sister Judy is committed, creative and responsible. You will see her everywhere - greeting and serving guests in the lobby, working in the Connection Center and coordinating workers in the Journey Sessions. When you don’t see her, be assured she is working behind the scenes, planning and organizing and assisting Sister Raquel in various endeavors. Pastor Patrick and Judy have three sons, Andrew, Adrian and Aaron. Let us keep their family in prayer. Respectfully,

Pastor Sam Valverde

MEMBERSHIP CLASS

This class is designed to introduce our new believers and transferring members to Fountain of Truth Church family our beliefs, church structure and organization.

GREETINGS all in the name of Jesus Christ. Tracy and I want to thank each of you for your prayers. We are making preparations for an even greater increase. Our first month has been filled with a lot of Spirit filled Life Group sessions. We have received a good number of testimonies of the goodness of the Lord. The Lord has provided an increase on salaries to faithful tithers. The Lord has made the way for necessary things to be funded or paid for. The Lord has touched the bodies of several who were sick. We want to encourage everyone to join a Life Group. We have about 1 month before we end this first semester. And you do not want to miss the 2nd semester starting in the month of May. We are expecting every Life Group leader’s home to become a church, and every LG member to become a minister. If you really want to be blessed, I challenge you to put someone else’s needs above your own desires. There is no way that you can become a servant of the Lord and the Lord not bless you, above measure. God is knocking on your door. Will you open and allow him to use you to help someone else? The harvest is truly plenteous and the laborers are few. Will you be the answer to the Lord’s Prayer? THE JOURNEY / SPIRITUAL RETREAT

So where did Generation SWAG come from? The word SWAG originally came from someone who just got tired of having the same plain curtains that everyone else had and wanted to add their own personal touch of style. With an extra piece of material their curtains would be different from everyone else and It adds a personal touch to each home. Likewise our children are individual and unique, each one with their own personality and style that make our families so original & different from others.

SPIRITUAL RETREAT Saturday, March 8, 2014 9am - 12pm in the sanctuary

But the words Generation SWAG kept echoing, then God made it clear to me as I read Ephesians 2:4-5, & then confirmed it thru my youngest daughter what SWAG meant to her, it was Saved With Amazing Grace. I was so relieved and happy to know that she wanted what God had for her & not what the world has to offer. I understood now, why the words Generation SWAG kept ringing in my heart. This age group (11-14) is so unique, not only are their bodies & minds changing & growing from a child to a pre-teen, they are finding out who they are, what they like and what they can & cannot do. They desire to be accepted & loved. This age group needs to believe & understand they have hope because God created them with a plan & purpose to succeed and not to be harmed.

HARVEST SUNDAY!

Sunday, March 30, 2014 10am

Generation SWAG has a more personal meaning, it is a lifestyle we want for our FTC Jr. High Students to identify with. They can be Saved With Amazing Grace that can only come from their Creator who loves them 24/7 everyday of their life. We have been praying, planning and preparing various activities and events for our Juniors as well as their parents/guardians. Together, with the Lord’s will, we will see our children shine brightly in this dark world and they will fulfill God’s plan & purpose for their life. (Phil. 2:13-15) CLASS DATES: Friday, March 7 & 21 @ 7pm / Sunday, March 9 & 23 @ 10am Parent Class on Friday, March 21 at 7pm We are Honored to work with this Generation. Be Blessed! Bro. Gabe & Sis.
