PASTOR’S THOUGHTS SENIOR PASTOR SAM VALVERDE d
Have you every pulled out an old but comfortable sweat shirt that is perfect to wear on a cold day? Perhaps one that you had misplaced but, unexpectedly, you found it just when you need it. At times I’ve even talked to it: “Oh, there you are,” or “Where were you?” This month I’m pulling out a used tag line that I used many years ago. Let’s put it on; it’s comfortable and it will keep us warm.
SWAG / MOTHER’S DAY SWAG Junior High Ministry For more information, contact the directors, Elias & Lourdes Escamilla EPSD09@gmail.com
IN MAY WE PRAY “Pray without ceasing.” I Thessalonians 5:17 The word “ceasing” means “without interruption” or “continually.” It means without stopping. Now, how can we do that? Paul was giving a series of instructions to the church. Rejoice evermore. In everything give thanks. Quench not the Spirit.
HAPPY MOTHER’S DAY Sunday, May 10, 2015
Sandwiched between them is: “pray without ceasing.” The idea is to maintain continual communication with the Lord all day. It speaks of literal and actual prayer times, and also of a continual awareness Him. Awareness of His presence refrains us from evil, convicts us of sin and molds our character. In May we pray. I invite FTC members to select some of the following hints and to keep our hearts open to his refreshing Spirit all day every day. • Choose a time during each day this month that you can devote to prayer. Whether it is twenty minutes or one hour, ask the Lord for grace to be consistent. Early morning prayer is very effective. I’ve personally experienced that 10:30pm to 11:30pm is a good time for me. •
Commit to fasting every Wednesday in May and make the effort to spend much time in prayer.
• Make it a point to arrive to Sunday Celebration service at 9:30am in order to spend 30 minutes in prayer before service. You will probably notice more liberty to worship and to pray for others.

PASTOR’S THOUGHTS
• Be accountable to a friend or family member. • Take at least one day per week to double your prayer time. • Pray through. This was a term commonly used for that special prayer that included weeping, brokenness and really getting through to God. We definitely need more “pray through” prayers. • Meditate on the Lord while driving, waiting in line or while doing chores. • Offer “Nehemiah” prayers. These are short prayers that you “shoot up” to God in emergencies or when there is not too much time (“Then the king said unto me, for what dost thou make request? So I prayed to the God of heaven.” Nehemiah 2:4) If you feel challenged to pray an hour, here are more hints: • Play some prayer music of your liking that will minister to your soul as you pray. • 10 minutes – Thank God for everything around you – salvation, the cross, the Holy Spirit, his name and word. Thank him for your family, health, provision, job, strength – everything! • 10 minutes: Worship. Call him every name in the book! Holy, majesty, savior, merciful (check the book, there are many more) Let your spirit minister to His Spirit. • 10 minutes – Repent and cleanse your heart before God. Confess your sins, small or large, and place all under the precious blood of Jesus. Ask the Lord to cleanse your heart from all bitterness, rancor, lasciviousness, greed, ungratefulness, agendas, attitudes, rebellion, etc. • 10 minutes – Intercede for others. Pray for the needs of others; your family, friends and those you know need God. Pray for your enemies, by name. Ask the Lord to bless and prosper them...yes, especially those who curse you are wish you wrong. • 10 minutes – Ask. Place your petitions and needs, with faith, on God’s altar. Healing, provision, needs… “Ask and ye shall receive.” (Matt. 7:7) • 10 minutes – Once again, worship and thank Him. Pray without ceasing,
Pastor Sam Valverde

Special gratitude goes to Rachel Guerra and Lupita Nunez for coordinating the Easter English and Spanish food. See below from Rachel Guerra to all the volunteers:
These classes are for the following:
• Anyone who has not taken the membership class to date and would like to become an official FTC member.
LOVE for GOD In the most Beautiful & Inspiring Ways! And we are Truly Grateful for the 35+ persons we have here at FTC who came together to Plan, Donate, Set Up, Clean Up, Cut & Prepare Fruit, Roll up the Forks, Knives and Napkins, Make Coffee & Tang, Cook Sausages, Pancakes, Prepare Plates and Serve them to our Guest on Easter Morning. We also had a special team that made blankets and prayed over them to give to the homeless with a warm plate of food. Thank You so Much. Because of You, we had a successful event! May God return to you the kindness you have shown to our Community. Luke 6:38 Love, Prayers and Friendship, Rachel Guerra There are so many functions “behind the scenes” of volunteers bringing hope and love to many... for example: Did you know Julian and Elena Ojeda delivered pancakes to the homeless on Easter? Did you know Mary Vasquez, Lydia Hernandez and Esmeralda Trevino made blankets and donated them to give the homeless? Also, this group of ladies sent some foster children some warm blankets and toiletries. Did you know?
