INSIDE THIS EDITION: Mission Matthew Church Prayer Vigil 11-22-13 The Journey

SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENTS

PASTOR’S THOUGHTS SENIOR PASTOR SAM VALVERDE

LET’S FINISH STRONG “For the Son of man is come to seek and to save that which was lost.” Luke 19:10 November and December are wonderful months. The year draws to a close with nature changing its colors, with cooler days and longer evenings. Families prepare for Thanksgiving dinners and year-end celebrations and children look forward to Christmas morning. Let us enjoy our family traditions and make memories with our children and grandchildren. Let us enjoy the season, but remember that the reason for these festivities is to thank God for his blessings and celebrate the birth of our Lord Jesus Christ. He came to seek, serve and save. I encourage us to follow his example. SEEK Let us seek out those who do not know Jesus Christ as their personal savior. It’s not that hard. Their desk is next to yours; they clock-in right after you and work on the same sales force. They live on your block and shop at the very same place you do. Many attend our Sunday celebrations and/or Life Groups. They even accept our altar call invitations and sing along with us. All they need is to be sought out and encouraged. Please allow me to give you a directive. This month, take moment to look around you during Sunday Celebration services. Seek someone out. Reach out to them with more than a greeting. Invite them into your world, into your home and into your heart. SERVE A very effective way to demonstrate God’s love is to serve someone. This usually involves serving a meal. Get involved. Many Life Groups will be celebrating a Matthew Dinner, probably the week before Thanksgiving. A Matthew Dinner (Luke 5:27-32; Matthew 9:9-13) consist of inviting Christians and non-Christians for your house for dinner to break bread, fellowship together and impart the Gospel in a very non-threatening and practical way. Be on the look-out for upcoming visitor banquets and Life Group Matthew Dinners. Plan a Matthew Dinner. Serve a hot meal and even more importantly, serve someone the Gospel. SAVE Then have the honor of being part of God’s saving process. Join Christ as he saves and transforms people’s lives. Be the instrument, the vehicle and conduit through which Jesus funnels his love and saving grace to your friends and neighbors. Let’ finish 2013 strong!

We celebrated an awesome service last month as more than 300 ladies came together in faith! The bilingual service had Bro. Louie Gutierrez and Bro. Wendell Wright sharing their hearts and restoring joy in the hungry hearts of all who were there. The service started with the incredible annointing of Mark Gutierrez and FTC’s praise team. We were then blessed by the live testimonies of Sis. Teresa Torres, Sis. Addy Macias, Sis. Lupita Nunez and Sis. Rebecca Price. Bro. Louie Gutierrez asked us what was in our “hand” as Reniah Gutierrez brought us to the “King”! Bro. Wendell Wright then set us in the right path of the light as we left the darkness behind! I want to thank the wonderful staff who helped make this happen.

PASTOR’S THOUGHTS November Preaching Series: FASTENED NAILS “The words of the wise are as goads, and as nails fastened by the masters of assemblies, which are given from one shepherd.” Ecclesiastes 9:11 This series will present various subjects that in my estimation need to be addressed. If we are not careful, the nails that keep us crucified with Christ can become loose. This can result in the “slipping off the cross” that produces damaging consequences for us and for our families. The Holy Spirit will prompt the pastor to preach messages that “fasten the nails” that are becoming unfastened. November 3, 2013 - “Seek, Serve and Save” This message will encourage the church to follow Christ’s example to seek, serve and save those who are lost. It will encourage the church to enjoy year-end festivities, but it will also warn against being so distracted with “us”, with ourselves, that we forget the reason fort season. November 10 ,2013 - “Do not Sin Against the Child” Using the beautiful story of Joseph, this message will encourage parents “train up a child in the way he should go”. Our children attend church, but are their hearts really turned towards God? With so much sin and corruption surrounding us, how can we keep our children’s hearts pure and godly? On this Sunday the Children will participate in the Celebration experience program. November 17, 2013- “How you doing?” - You may remember the phrase Joey (The womanizer from the sitcom Friends) would use to express his lust towards women. This candid message will be a letter written from Christian men to women who entice by dressing sensual. November 24, 2013 - “Thank You!” This sermon will deal with the importance of saying (and meaning) Thank-You to God and others. It will address the dying character trait of gratefulness. God bless you,

Pastor Sam Valverde
