E Casa Batlló Limited Edition of 188 Pens Casa Batlló is one of Antoni Gaudí’s masterpieces, located in the center of Barcelona, Spain. A remodel of a previously built house, it was redesigned by Gaudí in 1904. The ground floor is filled with unusual tracery, irregular oval windows and flowing sculpted stone work. Much of the facade is decorated with colorful mosaics made of broken ceramic tiles. The locals refer to Casa Batlló as the “house of bones,” due to its skeletal appearance. The roof is said to represent Saint George, the patron saint of Barcelona, and the dragon he mythically battled. The pen’s body and cap are made of three layers; each one is molded in a different material: acrylic, sterling silver and enamel, representing the facade of Casa Batlló. The shape of the cap and the blind cap reflect the design of the roof built from small colorful tiles. The clip represents the lance of Saint George plunged into the back of the dragon. To honor the world’s greatest artists, writers and thinkers, Montegrappa created the Genio Creativo series of pens. Each represents the achievements of an intellectual or artistic giant in a writing instrument that embodies the spirit of a specific work, as interpreted by Montegrappa’s artisans. Joining writer and philosopher Kahlil Gibran and the artist Vecellio Tiziano, known as Titian, is the sculptor Antonio Canova (1 November 1757 – 13 October 1822), an Italian sculptor famous for his work in marble. Often regarded as the greatest of the neoclassical artists, his work was inspired by the Baroque and the classical revival, but made more contemporary by dispensing with the melodrama of the former and adding a human element to the latter. A limited edition of 260 fountain pens and 260 rollerball pens, the exact number of years since Canova’s birth, is offered with polished bronze trim, black resin and a pen barrel made in a special marble composite, depicting in miniature his famous sculpture The Graces, or “Le Grazie.” Recalling the visual presence of Canova’s sculptures, the marble element is naturally grey. According to legend, Canova would pass over the freshly-chiseled, once-white stone with a cloth soaked with water, the same one used to wash the sculpting tools. The stone would absorb the dirt and acquire a more natural look. Parker and his passion to discover the world. Travel through time, cultures and geographies with Parker. He went on his first trip to Paris in 1900 to discover the wonders of the Exposition Universelle. His passion for travel took him around the world, from Egypt to South America, and China where he traveled many times to purchase traditional iron paintings in Wuhu, in the Anhui province. The Orient fostered his imagination and creation, giving birth to the Mandarin Yellow Duofold color, inspired from a vase George once found in Japan. The pattern from the cap is inspired by the diagram of the globe looked at from the poles.
