St. John’s Homeless Shelter St. John’s honors the dignity, restores hope and creates lasting change for those who are homeless or at-risk in the greater Green Bay area. Their emergency/ low-barrier shelter only serves those 18 years old and over and not served by the other shelters in the Green Bay area (they do not duplicate services). Their daytime resource centers are unmatched in the services and populations served. Hope House of Manitowoc County As a fairly new shelter, their program provides up to 90 days of overnight stay, free use of laundry facilities, volunteer cooked meals, shared common spaces, private family rooms, and intensive case management services; which help guests secure housing, work toward other goals including completing education, find job(s), enroll children in school/daycare, receive health services and more. St. Joseph Food Pantry - CHAMP (Community, Health, Activity, Motivation, Prevention) CHAMP is a program focused on the distribution of healthy food and nutrition education. Eating a well-balanced diet is essential for health, and for those who are struggling with food insecurity, eating “healthy” can be even more difficult as healthier food choices are expensive. In January, Boy Scout Troop 8 packaged up the CHAMP meals for distribution. Art Garage Art Garage (whose mission is to encourage participation in the visual, performing, and literary arts) and Creative Kids Rock (who celebrates the creative artistic strengths of children with dyslexia) are working together to bring “The Mobile Artist” program to the community. Each month, these organizations will choose unique artistic projects for underprivileged youth, within the Great Green Bay and surrounding areas, to create at free of cost.
