extra MINI PROJECTS
frances sin Optimistic . Reliable . Humble . Flexible . Ambitious . “Everyone has a story that can be created and revealed through design. I love design because it brings joy and excitement to clients and their space.
Portfolio Theme: This por tfolio is made up of different saddle stitched portfolio booklets . Each booklet is different and has its own motif. They all reflect on how the field and industr y of design is about people, and how we as designers can shape, mold, and create the space in which they will occupy. The greatest takeaway I receive from all of my projects is an ever increasing need for diverse propensities and drive to create spaces that will not only be meaningful but memorable as well.

I enjoy being a par t of a team that will come together to challenge and suppor t each other in order to succeed . The circles represent that unity. The design logo color is red / orange not only because of my fier y passion for design but to remind us to create better ideas and a future for interior design.

The forms and waves seen in the design were made through Google’s SketchUp . The layering effect in the light fixture was created through offsetting the flat surfaces out by an inch on both sides. Each component will have alternating waves that will give it a unique look of movement from all sides .
7
L AY E RING In Roden Crater, by Turrell I admired the layering he used to create tunnels, passageways, and spaces. As the environment changed around the ceiling opening, one would be able to perceive many variations of contrasting lights and shadows from the sky . Taking layering pointers from this building, I star ted to piece together a layering effect on my light fixture.

M ATE RIA LS In order to create the light fixture with waves and layers, I needed to use flexible materials . The vector lines of the f lat waves were created through illustrator in full scale. In order to create a soft light, matted window films were spray mounted onto the wave papers for cutting. The papers and matte films are spaced in a perfect cylinder using laser cut acrylics rings . 9

CAD DIAGRAM In college, I was assigned to pick a shoe and trace the photo in AutoCAD to create an exploded axon. The shoe I picked had many intricate details and I was interested on how it looks. Within a day, I traced the entire shoe and created an evaporated shoe exploded axon .
