IFG PROVIDES A VALUABLE SERVICE

It’s easy to envision yourself serving up good food in a restaurant business or selling products from a brick-and-mortar store. That’s why David Banfield calls his invoice discounting business an “intangible” franchise. “If we talk about a muffler shop or a design studio these are things that immediately conjure up an image and make the opportunity ‘real’,” explains Banfield, president of The Interface Financial Group (IFG). For more than 20 years, IFG has been providing a valuable service to businesses that need to keep a healthy cash flow.

“The key is we don’t actually take the risk,” Banfield adds, explaining that should the invoice not be paid as promised, the client is ultimately responsible. “We have a buy-back guarantee on every transaction.”

For example, for a company that manufactures a product that manages to get placement in a big-box retailer, it may seem like a dream has come true. “They give that company an invoice expecting to be paid in 60 to 90 days,” Banfield explains. “If they don’t get paid for 90 days, it can ruin their business.” That’s where an invoice discounting service like IFG comes in, providing upfront payment on the invoice minus a fee, restoring that company’s bank account balance in the short term. IFG, which operates in eight countries, already has a network of 47 franchisees and continues to grow. Its expansion is attributed to a winning formula that only requires franchisees to contribute no more than 16% of the invoice while earning 50% of the total once it is paid.
