lisbon architecture triennale . international competition: a house in luanda: patio and pavilion. the aim is to create a replicable model that reflects the social, economic and cultural specificity of luanda, with the idea that this model should weave the urban fabric of the city, using systems, practices and materials which are commonly found in local architecture.

international ideas competition: “innovation and quality in educational facilities�. mem martins secondary school. the project area offers the view of the sintra hills as its central reference. the classrooms are arranged so as to create a large open courtyard, directing its view towards the silhouette of the hills, and reinforcing it as the main meeting space of the school.

hebel schoolhouse, riehen - overall renovation and reconstruction of the auditorium, 2013. the schoolhouse built in 1952-53, listed in the inventory of swiss heritage sites, is still preserved in its original structure. on this basis, the planned measures aimed at striking a balance between operational added-value and historical significance in terms of the overall system, in order to fulfill the new requirements of the current school reform, and to secure the usability of the architectural superior school complex.

van dick apartment, beirut, renovation and extension of two-storey apartment 2013 . the building, partially still from the 19th century have been overlaid again and again with new constructions and building types according to the rhythm of destruction and reconstruction marked by past wars. the four-storey building was built in 1930 and extended in 1950. despite the destructive effects of the last civil war, its basic substance was still well preserved, so that a full refurbishment and light extension were required for the future.

storehouse machico, madeira island, 2012. the program was simple and the project responds according to its simplicity, a warehouse to support three houses. the site is a “corner� that is drawn by two walls. the aim was to propose a piece that fits into the corner and at the same time does not belong to the corner. the construction is made up steel frame, fiber cement boards and a concrete slab.

overall renovation and reconstruction of three apartments, machico , madeira island, 2012 the program’s main objective was to convert a three-story house into three apartments. the house was built in 2002 but the interior wasn’t completed. the intervention acts on what is private space and social space. in this sense it is always drawn a body that defines the rooms and isolates itself from the social space. the challenge was to create this type of character in a limited space.

rural tourism in madeira island, overall renovation, reconstruction and extension of three houses calheta , 2012 . with matilde vieira, luisa and paulo vieira. a typical house in madeira island from the eighteenth century was always composed with one or two barns. the site consists of a main house and two barns. the program was to covert the two barns in apartments, renew the central house and converting it to another apartment for rural tourism. the character of this rural complex belong to a contemporary architecture but without losing the character of the traditional houses.
