hese photographs were made during the twelve years from the summer of 1986 through the spring of 1998. This book was produced in the summer of 1998 using a combination of analog and digital imaging technologies. All of the images began as 35mm film negatives. Some of the negatives were digitized by the Kodak PhotoCD scanning process. Others were printed in the darkroom and then scanned on an Agfa StudioScan flatbed desktop scanner. The digital images were converted to CMYK color mode in Adobe Photoshop using the standard SWOP lookup table and saved as Encapsulated PostScript files with JPEG compression. The book was designed with QuarkXPress on a Compaq notebook computer and printed on a Xeikon DCP/32D digital printing press in the CIMSPrint laboratory at Rochester Institute of Technology. Special thanks to David Cohn, CIMSPrint Lab Manager, for the technical wizardry required to produce this book.
