ARE YOU READY FOR THE NEW I PHONE 5?
Italian designer reveals iPhone 5 mock-up February 24, 2012 - 16:17 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - The iPhone 5 might not be arriving any time soon, but that hasn’t stopped artists and design firms from creating their own mock-ups, Mashable reported. After analyzing the various iPhone 5 rumors, Italian designer Federico Ciccarese came up with gorgeous renders. Ciccarese’s vision of the iPhone 5 predicts a slightly curved back. The body of the phone, in fact, looks similar to Apple’s Magic Mouse. The display is flat and “retina” in nature and the phone tapers off at the top and bottom. The headphone jack has moved to the side to accommodate the new design and the back looks to be blasted aluminum, similar to what is used on the MacBook Pro, MacBook Air and iMac. This isn’t the first time Ciccarese has mocked up his own version of future Apple products. In addition to previously trying to design the fifth-generation iPhone (what would become the iPhone 4S), Ciccarese has also taken on concepts such as the iScreen, his vision of the rumored integrated television from Apple.
iPhone 5 May Arrive in the Fall of 2012 February 22, 2012 As with other iPhone releases, we’ve been hearing a lot of conflicting news about the iPhone 5 as of late. While we reported earlier this month that the iPhone 5 would be released in the summer of 2012–to coincide with Apple’s World Wide Developers Conference (WWDC)–we’re now hearing that this may not be the case after all. That’s because several sources are now reporting that the iPhone 5 will come out in September or October of 2012. As with many rumors, this may not come true; however, we’ve decided to provide a closer look into this possible fall debut for the iPhone 5. Japanese Blog Says iPhone 5 Will Debut in Fall The Japanese blog Macotakara.jp reported on Monday of this week that the iPhone 5 would be coming out in September or October 2012. According to Macotakara, they were given this information from a “very reliable source in Asia.” The source told Macotakara that the iPhone 5 would likely come out in one of these two months and that–perhaps even more importantly–this cycle would continue for future iPhone releases. In other words, according to the source, Apple is completely abandoning their previous new iPhone summer release schedule in favor of a new iPhone every fall schedule. That, of course, contradicts what many other sources have been reporting–that the iPhone 5 would mark the return of the new iPhone every June schedule Apple previously had. Why a Fall Debut Makes Sense The idea of releasing the iPhone 5 (as well as future iPhones) in the fall actually isn’t that crazy. In fact, it might just be a great idea–from a business standpoint–for Apple.

That’s because the iPhone 4S was extremely successful in terms of sales, even moreso than the other iPhones. The iPhone 4S sold more units in the first 24 hours that it was on sale than any other Apple product. Over four million iPhone 4S units were sold during the first weekend. Not only that, but sales of the iPhone 4S continued well into the holiday season of 2011. If the iPhone 5 were released in October 2012, it is very likely that the sales of the iPhone 5 would also continue well into the holiday season. This would mean big profits for Apple. One other reason why a fall iPhone 5 debut makes sense is that it would be roughly a year after the release of the 4S. Many feel that releasing the iPhone 5 less than a year after the 4S–as would happen with a summer 2012 release– would upset a lot of customers. Why a Fall Debut Doesn’t Make Sense On the flip side of things, a fall debut for the iPhone 5 doesn’t make sense because the launch of the new iPhone has become such a staple at Apple’s WWDC event in June of each year. If Apple were to release the iPhone 5 in October, they obviously could not promote the device at WWDC in June. What’s more, Apple would have to plan a separate event in September/October of each year just to present the new iPhone for that year. That could be a big hassle. What’s Most Likely: Fall or Summer To be honest, we feel at this point that the iPhone 5 release date is really a toss up. It makes sense for Apple to wait a year to release the iPhone 5, which means a fall 2012 iPhone 5 release date. However, it also makes sense for Apple to return to the WWDC-centered release date by bringing out the iPhone 5 in June 2012. And given all of the reports we’ve received about the iPhone 5 already going into production, a June 2012 release date seems most likely. So if we had to predict a release date for the iPhone 5 right now, we’d still say June 2012.
I Phone 5: Five Photography Apps Worth Downloading February 20, 2012 The iPhone 5 may be months away from its release, but that doesn’t mean it’s too early to start thinking about what apps you may want to download for the device. While we’ve pointed out the ways that Apple can improve the iPhone 5‘s camera and photo editing capabilities, there’s no way Apple will be able to implement every possible photography feature that iPhone 5 owners want. Luckily, the iPhone App Store is home to over 500,000 apps, many of which are photo taking and editing apps. We’ll cover five iPhone 5 photography apps worth downloading.
Five Must-Have iPhone 5 Photography Apps When selecting the apps on this list, we looked at three things: price, reviews, and features/design. Although there are thousands of iPhone photography apps, we feel that these are some of the best ones you can download for your iPhone 5.
Camera+ If you take the iPhone’s stock camera application and add the ability to tweak a lot of the camera’s settings, you end up with an app like Camera+. Camera+ currently is one of the most downloaded photography apps in the iPhone app store, and it’s for good reason: the Camera+ is capable of taking some very impressive pictures on the iPhone 4S, and it’s sure to do the same on the iPhone 5. Camera+ users have the ability to zoom in up to 6x and post images to Twitter/Facebook from within the app. Cost: $1.99

Photoshop Express For years now, Adobe’s Photoshop program has been known as one of the best photo editing tools available. While the iPhone version of Adobe Photoshop can’t hold a candle to the computer version, it is still pretty good. Photoshop Express is a must-have photography app for your iPhone 5 because it is so easy to use. Effects can be added to pictures and pictures can be cropped by tapping just a couple buttons. What’s perhaps even better is the cost of Photoshop Express: free. Cost: Free
AutoStitch The iPhone 5 camera will be able to do many things, but one thing it probably won’t be able to do out of the box is take panoramic photos. For those who don’t know, panoramic photos are comprised of 3 different photos that are stitched together to provide a large photo of a big area that cannot be captured by a single camera shot. AutoStitch allows users to take panoramic photos with their iPhone 5, 4S, 4, and 3GS. The photos are effortlessly and quickly stitched together. In our experience, AutoStitch does a great job of creating nice panoramic images. If you’re planning on taking a lot of photos with your iPhone 5, this is definitely an app that you should have. Cost: $1.99
Snapseed Remember how we mentioned that Adobe’s Photoshop Express iPhone app can’t hold a candle to the computer version of Photoshop Express? Well, there is one iPhone 5 app that can give Photoshop a run for its money: Snapseed. Snapseed is a robust iPhone app that enables both amateur and professional iPhone photographers to tweak photos to their heart’s desire. Images can be cropped, straightened, sharpened, structured, and even tilted or shifted. Snapseed comes with a bunch of photo filters and other adjustment features, too.
Simply put: Snapseed can help you make even your worst iPhone 5 photo look good. Cost: $4.99
Instagram We can’t have an iPhone 5 photography apps list without mentioning the most popular photo app, Instagram. Instagram first took the world by storm in 2010 and has since been downloaded over 15 million times from the App Store. Instagram is popular for one reason: it’s extremely simple to use and to share photos. Instagram works by applying specific filters to photos to give the photos a unique, elegant look. While Instagram certainly isn’t as good at photo editing as the other apps we mentioned, it’s still a photography app worth having on deck on your iPhone 5. Cost: Free iPhone 5: New Features We Want in iOS5 or iOS6 February 19, 2012 Although it’s been less than six months since Apple’s iOS5 debuted on the iPhone 4S, many are speculating that iOS6 is just around the corner– and may in fact debut on the new iPhone 5. We don’t know yet if the iPhone 5 will be coming with iOS6 pre-installed or if it will be an updated version of iOS 5 (perhaps 5.1?), but one thing is for certain: we want to see even more improvements and new features in the iPhone 5 iOS. Continuing on our focus this week of going in depth with all things related to the iPhone 5, we’ve compiled a list of things we’d like to see in the iPhone 5′s operating system.

More Widgets For iPhone 5
Computer Control
For years, many iPhone owners complained about the lack of widgets. Widgets, of course, are small applications found on the dashboard of the device. Android devices allow widgets to be placed on the main screen of the website. With iOS5, Apple allowed iPhone users to have widgets displayed on the notifications drag-down menu. Unfortunately, Apple currently only allows the weather and stock widgets to be displayed. We’d like to see Apple expand this functionality by allowing 3rd party widgets into the app store for the iPhone 5. It would be kinda cool to have a Twitter widget that displays recent tweets on the iPhone 5, after all.
Imagine this: your iPhone is charging and you’re at your computer. You’d like to send messages through your iPhone from your computer. Currently, you can’t do this. However, if Apple listens to what many people have been wanting for years, this could be a reality on the iPhone 5. We’d like to see, at a minimum, the option to read and send text messages through the iPhone 5 from the computer, but it would be even cooler if the iPhone 5 let us actually see the full iPhone screen on our computer (essentially, it would be like remote desktop, except it would be remote iPhone).
Alternate Keyboard We love the iPhone’s keyboard. It seems to be ideal for typing with small and medium sized hands, and it’s quite accurate. That having been said, it would be nice to have other options for the keyboard. As with widgets, Android allows users to install alternate keyboards such as Swype (which involves drawing or tracing words) and others that may better fit the user’s needs. It’s a bit of a long shot to expect the iPhone 5 (or really, any iPhone for the next few years) to support the installation of different iOS keyboards, but it would be nice. More Launch Shortcuts Look at the bottom of your iPhone screen and you’ll see four shortcut icons for quick launching of your most used applications. While you can change the icons to whatever you want, you cannot have any more than four. For iPhone users who have more than four commonly used applications, this is a problem. Those who have jailbroken their iPhone know that, through jailbreaking, it’s possible to have more than four quick launch shortcuts. If Apple were to implement this with the iPhone 5, there would be a lot more happy iPhone 5 owners, we think.
iPhone 5: 5 Ways the Camera Can Be Improved February 17, 2012 If there’s one thing that has consistently changed with each new iPhone model, it’s the camera. The original iPhone came with just a 2 megapixel camera, while the iPhone 4S came with an 8 megapixel camera and flash capability. We’re hoping this progressive trend of camera changes continues with the new iPhone 5, reportedly set [...] iPhone 5: Five Features We Want to See February 14, 2012 iPhone 5 rumors and leaks have been turning up left and right over the past few weeks. We’ve heard about a possible 13 megapixel camera, 4G LTE, bigger display, and even NFC capability being found in the new iPhone 5. While we don’t know for sure what features will and will not make it into [...] Well we have some more iPhone 5 rumors lined up for all you iPhone 5 fans. This time the rumors pertain to the camera technology that the iPhone 5 will be using. The news comes from 9to5mac, which cites that Apple co-founder, late Steve Jobs, showed some great interest in the Lytro Camera Technology. They came to this conclusion after going through the unreleased book “Inside Apple” by Adam Lashinsky.
Issue 3| © 20012| Models of Colorado.com | Models of Colorado Magazine
Apparently 9to5Mac received an advance copy of the book and the book shows that Steve Jobs had some conversation over this technology with CEO of Lytro company. iPhone 5 can make some great use of Lytro Technology The technology from Lytro makes capturing of additional information of the scene possible and not just a simple representation of colored pixel grids. Extra information like the direction in which the rays are entering the camera lens as well as the intensity will also be recorded and processed before the image is ready. Also this additional data can be modified to tweak the photograph even more. If the iPhone 5 makes use of this technology, then combine this with the high resolution retina display and we have a killer device ready at our hands. Of course it is just that Steve Jobs showed interest in this technology at some point of time and no one can say for certain if this will be part of the upcoming iPhone 5. iPhone 5 might support the 802.11ac Wireless Standard! We have all heard about the 802.11ac and how it will make Gigabit Wireless networking a possibility. But this time AppleInsider is reporting that the upcoming iPhone 5 and the iPad 3 might have full support for this turbocharged wireless networking technology. The 802.11ac standard is three times faster than the 802.11n standard. Apple is not only restricting the use of this technology to the iPhone 5 and the iPad 3, but Apple TV, Time Capsules and the Notebook range will also employ this technology. The standard has not yet been given the final seal of approval from the Highest authority that deals with networking protocols and standards, but it will happen soon. A major supplied to Apple BroadCom, already showcased some 802.11ac ready chipsets at CES 2012.
iPhone 5: Five Features We Want to See February 14, 2012 iPhone 5 rumors and leaks have been turning up left and right over the past few weeks. We’ve heard about a possible 13 megapixel camera, 4G LTE, bigger display, and even NFC capability being found in the new iPhone 5. While we don’t know for sure what features will and will not make it into the iPhone 5 that is released to the public (likely to happen this summer), we do know some of the other features we want to see–beyond those that we’ve been hearing will be found in the iPhone 5. Better Facebook and Twitter Integration in iPhone 5 With iOS5, Apple introduced Twitter integration where images can be uploaded to Twitter from the built-in iOS photo app. You cannot, however, upload images to Facebook directly from the photos app on the iPhone, which is something many people are not happy about. We’re hoping that Apple will improve both the Facebook and Twitter integration on the iPhone 5 so that pictures and statuses can be easily sent from the iPhone 5 without needing to launch the apps for both programs. MicroSD Card Support One of the things that separates the iPhone from Android phones is the fact that Android phones support the use of microSD cards to store music and other files on the device. Although many iPhone users are happy with the current iPhone size offerings (16GB, 32GB and 64GB), some need more space than this to adequately store their high resolution images and videos, not to mention their music and video library. It doesn’t seem likely that the iPhone 5 will have microSD card support, but it’s still something we’d love to see.

Better Battery Life and a Removable Battery Even if you only make the occasional call or play the occasional game on your iPhone, you’re probably going to find that the phone needs to be charged at least once per day. In fact, many iPhone 4 and 4S have complained that the battery life on their device is too short. We’re hoping that the iPhone 5 will come with a longer lasting battery so that we only have to charge the phone every other day, rather than every day. Even more so, we’re hoping that the iPhone 5′s battery is removable so that we can easily replace the battery when it stops holding a good charge. Better Zooming and Image Taking The iPhone 4S camera is by far the best iPhone camera yet. That having been said, one thing we think could stand to be improved is the zoom functionality for the iPhone 5. You can’t zoom very much with the iPhone 4S, and when you do, the zoomed images appear very blurry. While we’re on the topic of image quality, we’d also like to see an even better camera in the iPhone 5. This doesn’t necessarily mean a camera with more megapixels (because having more megapixels doesn’t always translate to better image quality), but rather a higher quality camera that is capable of taking great images whether the lighting is perfect or too bright/too dark. Slimmer, New Design Don’t get us wrong, we like the design of the 4S and don’t find it to be too terribly balky. However, when you compare the 4S to the ultra thin Droid Razr or Samsung Galaxy S2, the iPhone is a little thicker than we’d like. As we’ve been hearing that the iPhone 5 will come with a bigger display, we’re hoping that Apple finds a way to incorporate the bigger display while also making the iPhone 5 a little bit slimmer. Even if that means drastically changing the design of the new iPhone.
Check out the New iPad 2 App This app can be downloaded from the App Store. Its like having a smaller version of Photoshop on your ipad 2, for $9.99. Terry Whites tech blog on YouTube gives you a great tutorial on this new amazing product. Check it out!
