P A R K . Rising above the urban fields of Chippendale Green, this remarkable structure reflects the unique character of the creative neighbourhood in which it stands. Connor is the result of a deeply reasoned response to a complex set of design challenges: how to maximise natural light while maintaining privacy for occupants; optimise its parkfront position; and illuminate the southern aspect within the framework of the pre-specified building envelope.
Connor is distinctive and individual. Deep slots cut into the profile of the building bringing natural light and air to the centre of the structure and, in turn, break it into a series of independent blocks. Solid sides and glazed louvred ends bring a sculptural form to the building, almost as if suspended from the sky – like a giant artwork. The silky sheen created by the reflectiveness of its brushed copper/aluminium composite cladding sets the building firmly on the cutting edge of design.
The exterior also features independently angled vertical fins that create a shimmering lenticular effect, bringing an inviting warmth that enhances the new urban landscape.

“We wanted to create a building that was a transitional form between the high rise aluminium and glass of the city and the lower brick warehouses of Chippendale.
“Hence the height and the use of the copper aluminium cladding that brings warmth and reflects both the highly finished city scape and the more earthy nature of Chippendale.
“In the case of Connor we were first influenced by the envelope, its rather cubic shape meant we needed to get light into the building; hence the deep slots that cut into the exterior allowing light in.
