We will continue to make selective investments in overseas and recurring income assets as we work towards our strategic objective of achieving earnings sustainability.”

SUSTAINABILITY
Frasers Environment Month
Live Green, Waste Less FCL launched the inaugural Frasers Environment Month in March. Through various company-wide activities held during the month, FCL hopes to inspire and encourage our staff to ‘live and breathe’ sustainability, both at work and at home.
Organised by the Sustainability Working Team’s Environment Sub-Committee, the “Live Green, Waste Less”-themed month aimed to draw attention to an individual’s daily impact on the environment, and encourage everyone to take simple
steps to reduce his/her carbon footprint. The organisers collaborated with several external partners such as the Public Utilities Board, Singapore Green Building Council and World Wide Fund for Nature to hold several environmental awareness events. Each business unit also carried out its own initiatives to further embed the environmental message within their operations. In Singapore, a workshop on upcycling was organised to teach participants how to create new products using discarded materials or objects. Staff made their own unique and functional tote bags using preworn t-shirts. On 10 March, a group of FCL staff visited the NEWater Plant on a guided tour. Staff learnt about the pressing issue of water scarcity in Singapore, the need for water

• Beach clean-up at East Coast Park on 29 March Staff spent an afternoon working in teams to pick up litter at the beach.
• Singapore World Water Day Hour on 22 March A number of Frasers Centrepoint Malls encouraged our patrons to conserve water through various platforms. In addition, office spaces managed by FCL have put up fun mirror stickers around our buildings together with exhibitions on water conservation.
• Better Places for People Seminar on 28 March Organised in collaboration with the Singapore Green Building Council to engage with our office tenants to be more aware of how the health of buildings impact occupants’ health, wellbeing, and the environment.
• Workshop on upcycling of used bottles into green planters on 31 March Staff learned how to use discarded plastic bottles and paper cups to make creative planters for their workplace and homes. Response to the first Frasers Environment Month was very encouraging with many colleagues participating and enjoying the activities organised.

‘One Bangkok’
a new global landmark Envisioned to be one of the world’s “must-visit” destination city districts, ‘One Bangkok’ will be Thailand’s first fully integrated district that is built on people-centric principles with a focus on environmental sustainability and smartcity living. ‘One Bangkok’ will be developed by a joint venture between TCC Assets (Thailand) Co., Ltd., holding 80.1%, and Frasers Property Holdings (Thailand) Co., Ltd. holding 19.9%. This is the largest private sector property development initiative in Thailand with an estimated investment value of about US$ 3.5 billion. Khun Charoen Sirivadhanabhakdi, Chairman of TCC Group and FCL, said, “Our vision is to create a place that people can love and want to spend time in, which everyone in the city will feel is an integral part of our city. Once completed, it will be a global landmark that will enhance Bangkok’s and Thailand’s stature on the world stage.” He added, “With ‘One Bangkok’, I hope to enhance global confidence in Thailand as the epicentre of ASEAN and a key gateway and lifestyle city in Asia, as well as
bring great prosperity to all associated with the project, whether as tenants, owners, or business partners.” “To accomplish this game-changing endeavour, I have placed my confidence in two TCC Group companies – TCC Assets (Thailand) and Frasers Property. He added, “By forming such a strategic alliance, we are able to combine the financial strength and local know-how
of TCC Assets, with the enormous international property development expertise of Frasers Property, which has an impeccable global track record of awardwinning development projects.” ‘One Bangkok’ is a fully integrated “citywithin-a-city” district, which will comprise next generation office buildings, luxury and lifestyle hotels, a comprehensive array of retail and leisure offerings within differentiated precincts, ultra-luxury residential towers, a rich variety of civic areas, art and culture facilities, as well as 8 hectares of greenery and open spaces.

New Senior Appointments
reinforce major growth plans for Retail Eastern Creek in NSW, and at Burwood Brickworks and Wyndham Vale in Victoria, in addition to the shopping centres integrated with residential communities. Mr Moore will be responsible for building a high performance leasing team to deliver our fast-growing project leasing pipeline of over 250 retail shopfronts, covering 80,000 sq m of retail space, in the next few years. His appointment is a statement of intent for the future of Frasers Property’s Retail business. The retail division represents a major growth sector for FPA, who are investing in their people accordingly. Frasers Property Australia’s Retail business is on the brink of major growth in 2017 and beyond, with the company welcoming retail industry leaders Joanna Russell, formerly of Coles, and Tim Moore from Vicinity Centres.
Ms Russell has joined Frasers Property as General Manager – Retail Development while Mr Moore took up the newly created role of General Manager – Retail Leasing in January. Ms Russell joins the team at a crucial time, as new retail projects are in their early stages at Edmondson Park and
From almost a standing start two years ago FPA is now managing the development and delivery of eight retail precincts across New South Wales and Victoria. The pipeline will continue to increase in the years ahead following the decision, just over a year ago, to develop and hold a high quality portfolio of retail properties.
Fairwater
WINS EXCELLENCE AWARD ‘Fairwater’ by Frasers Property Australia has received the Urban Development Institute of Australia’s national Award for Excellence in Residential Development. The UDIA is the peak industry body for residential development in Australia, so this acclaim is hotly contested and highly valued. You may recall that ‘Discovery Point’, also in Sydney, won a national UDIA award last year and ‘One Central Park’ did so in 2015, so our reputation for excellence is well supported. Nigel Edgar, GM Residential NSW, thanked the team, saying “To secure such industry recognition is difficult and is only ever achieved when there is strong focus and collaboration from the whole team.
“Fairwater demonstrates best practice in so many areas including onsite water management through an end-to-end water management plan solving the greater area flooding issues, an architecturally fresh and new approach to housing design in western Sydney, new standards in sustainability
innovation with the first broad scale delivery of geothermal heating and cooling in Australia and most importantly a community engagement platform and customer service programme that outperforms our competition.”

China Treasure
in the City Gemdale/FCL Megacity managed to break through the sales permit hurdle right before Chinese New Year of 2017. This was despite the ongoing impact of the property buying restrictions and tightening credit measures implemented in 2016 on the Shanghai property market and pressure in sales permits application.
Phase 4F “Treasure in the City’’ was launched on 18 February 2017. It comprises 616 units spread across multistoreyed apartments, villas and terrace houses. Phase 4F takes advantage of the market recognition gained from the successful launch of the deluxe version of the Brownstone series in Phase 3. In addition, the high quality workmanship and finishes helped to attract potential buyers to the new launch.

New FCL
Professional Writing Skills Workshop Group HR has successfully kicked off our very first run of the Professional Writing Skills workshop. This is a new workshop that we have introduced to the company. The inaugural workshop was conducted from 19 to 20 January 2017. Unlike most external writing skills workshops, this workshop has been designed to provide personal one-to-one coaching. Participants will get feedback on their writing styles
and tips on how they can enhance their writing skills. Simon Milligan, the instructor, has 25 years of experience in corporate language and communication training. His customised handouts and writing worksheets gave participants opportunities for hands-on practice which stimulated enthusiastic involvement from participants. This first
workshop received very good feedback and scored an excellent overall rating of 3.62 out of 4. One common feedback given is that this course was very relevant and participants could put to practice what they learnt in their daily work. The second run which was held on 16 to 17 March 2017 was oversubscribed. There will be subsequent runs scheduled. Do keep a look out for the registration email.
Counter Terrorism
Workshop With the rise of terror threats, Singaporeans have to stay vigilant and be prepared to protect themselves against any terrorist attacks. Populated areas such as shopping malls and office buildings are often soft targets for terrorism. To equip management staff from our Retail and Office Properties, Group HR engaged two trainers from the Certified Counter
Terrorism Board (CCTP) to conduct two Terrorism 101 workshops. The facilitators shared their experiences and knowledge and provided guidelines on how to “detect, prevent and respond to potential terrorist crisis. A short table-top exercise was also conducted using one of our shopping
malls as an example. This exercise required participants to share their recommended emergency responses for different threatening. The workshop was well received and the participants were able to take away specific application points to review their Standard Operating Procedures in managing any terrorist threats.
FCL Leadership Education Series Talk:
Current Terrorism Trends, Challenges and Proactive Counter Terrorism Strategies For the recent Leadership Education Series Talk on 21 February 2017, FCL invited two speakers from the Certified Counter Terrorism Practitioner (CCTP) Board to share with our senior management about the current terrorism trends and challenges. A total of 36 leaders attended the workshop to learn more about staying vigilant and how such terrorism trends may affect our businesses. Actual past cases
14
were shared with participants to help them appreciate and understand the nature of the attacks and operations. These cases were reviewed to show how they could been avoided with specific proactive measures. The talk received very good feedback as there were practical learnings and applications.

EMPLOYEE IN FOCUS
Building Executive –
LIM AH TEE
Mr Lim Ah Tee, Building Executive, Valley Point has been with the company for 34 years. He is also an avid collector of CocaCola collectibles. Anyone who has been to his office will not miss the large collection on display at his workstation. Q. What made it possible for you to be with the company for 34 years? My generation’s thinking is different from the current generation. We need a job to survive and feed our family. I have seen many colleagues come and go and I do feel sad when they resign. Some of them have asked me to join them in their new employment. But I am happy working here and I don’t see a reason to change jobs.
Q. What were you doing before you joined FCL? When I was young(er), I helped out at my father’s restaurant in Punggol as a kopi boy. Back then, Punggol was still a rubber plantation. I worked from 4am to 1am every day without pay and I only have one off day in a year on Chinese New Year. It was very hard work and neither my brothers nor I wanted to take over the restaurant. I joined another company as a technician and was there for seven years before I left and joined FCL. Q. We heard that you have a large collection of Coca-Cola collectibles. When and how did you begin this hobby? I started my collection more than 20 years ago. I noticed that Coca-Cola always comes out with interesting collectibles and started keeping a few at my desk.
Soon, my colleagues started to buy them for me when they go overseas or when they came across interesting items. Q. Where do you usually source for these collectibles? Most of my collection is made up of Gift with Purchase items that I received from different malls or stores. I also exchange items with other collectors when I have extras. I do not buy items from Carousell or eBay as I find it a waste of money. Q. Which is the most memorable item in your collection? Many years ago, there was this restaurant at Great World City that gave a stamp for every ramen set meal that you purchase. We have to collect 20 stamps and top up a certain amount to purchase a Coca-Cola mini fridge. My colleagues and I had ramen almost every day to collect the stamps and by the time I finally collected enough stamps, the restaurant ran out of stock for the collectible. I then took a cab and checked out a few different outlets before I finally got it. The taxi fare cost me more than the price of the mini fridge! Q. What other hobbies do you have? I used to enjoy photography but have stopped in recent years. I don’t enjoy sports but I’m trying to do some brisk walking to keep fit. 17
