Here are some of the highlights from A Different Way, so far. And we’ve only just begun.

FOR ENERGY We created the energy retailer Real Utilities to provide a cheaper, greener and simpler source of energy to occupants of the buildings we develop.
We’re certified under the Australian Government’s Climate Active program as a carbon neutral organisation.

LEADERSHIP IN GREEN BUILDINGS

We develop, own or manage over 2 million sqm of Green Star buildings and have over 10,000 residential Green Star lots under development.
We’ve achieved the first 6 Star Green Star Design and As Built industrial buildings in Australia. We also have the highest rated Industrial Green Star Performance Portfolio with 64 Green Star rated industrial properties.

Frasers Property Australia achieved Global Sector Leadership among developers in 2019 in the Global Real Estate Sustainability Benchmark (GRESB). Our investment property portfolio was again ranked first in the world, reflecting seven years of year-on-year improvement.
Our Burwood Brickworks shopping centre in Melbourne targets Living Building Challenge certification to achieve zero carbon footprint, zero waste and to produce more electricity and water than we use. We’re building using non-toxic and recycled materials and growing agriculture on 20% of the site.

Build Neutral at Minnippi Quarter is an initiative we’ve developed at Frasers Property Australia to give residents an opportunity to offset the carbon emissions associated with the materials and construction of their homes. It’s a simple concept, similar to offsetting carbon when purchasing a flight. It’s an Australian-first in the property industry, an initiative we hope will grow through conversation and participation. It’s a customer-led initiative that offers a way in which residents can be part of taking practical climate action and contributing directly to support projects that strive to reduce or mitigate carbon emissions.

3 You can elect to ‘opt-in’ to offset the carbon emissions associated with the construction of your home at contract signing, during construction or post construction of your home.
Funds are invested in selected certified carbon offsetting projects. All carbon emissions reductions calculations and amounts have been independently audited, and the process is certified by Climate Active, a Federal Government agency that supports and guides businesses to reduce carbon emissions.

K ARIBA FOREST PROTEC TION, ZIMBABWE
This project supports Queensland farmers to create alternative revenue streams by restoring native vegetation regeneration on marginal and degraded agricultural land. The Kariba project was first established in 2011 and since then has prevented more than 18 million tonnes of CO2 from being emitted into the atmosphere. With a focus on preventing deforestation and land degradation across a 785,000 hectares area, the project supports regional sustainable development and the independence of local communities.
