TI GH T-K N IT C O M MUN IT Y THRIVES. HAMILTON REACH RESIDENTS DISCOVER NEW WAYS TO CONNECT DURING LIFE IN LOCKDOWN.

From an “abundance of caution” to Zoom drinks, the past few months have thrown up an A-Z of unique challenges and adjustments for everyone. Hamilton Reach residents were determined to make sure social distancing did not mean an end to social interaction and took a creative approach to staying connected, finding new ways to catch up and planning COVID-safe activities. HAM ILTON RE ACH FACE BOOK GROU P A community Facebook group was created for residents across Hamilton Reach. More than 260 neighbours joined to forge friendships, post photographs, share local tips and advice and, as restrictions eased, arrange community and social events. COM M U N IT Y CHAM P ION S Seven Community Champions were recruited, one for each of Hamilton Reach’s residential developments. These communityminded volunteers meet weekly to nurture, connect and communicate with residents. JU LY

AN ZAC DAY 202

0

The cancellation of public services did not prevent Hamilton Reach residents from hosting an ANZAC Day tribute. Residents organised a socially distant dawn service where local veterans laid a wreath, a trumpeter played The Last Post and a digital memorial service was livestreamed. Dozens of Hamilton Reach residents joined the ceremony from their balconies, lighting candles and wearing poppies in support. Frasers Property Australia ordered more than 520 packets of ANZAC biscuits from Northshore Harbour Café which were distributed to every household in Hamilton Reach.
