70 years of excellence In 2017 Fraser will be celebrating its 70th anniversary. Whilst some people might think that 70 is getting old, we’re proud of our age and the experience we have gained and we look forward to combining this with the vision and strategy of the company to help it continue to grow for the next 70 years, and more. Founded in 1947 by a young David Fraser, the company has seen many changes over the last seven decades, not least the industry and the vessels surrounding it. However there is one thing that has not changed, and that is the passion that drives the company forward. David Fraser fell in love with the sea at an early age, building his first boat at the tender age of ten and taking his first job just a few years later working on board the 185ft schooner Anna R Heidritter during his summer holidays. After several years in the navy during World War II David returned to the United States and applied to become a yacht broker, the rest as they say, is history. David used his passion for both sailing and selling to grow his business, successfully building up a steady stream of sales and expanding the company. Now Fraser is 70 years old, with 10 offices around the world and 150 dedicated staff following in David’s footsteps, which has helped lead to the most successful sales record out of any brokerage over the last seven years. Whilst the yachting industry is based around the most magnificent yachts on the water, the most important aspect is the people. Yachting is not a necessity, it is a pleasure and everyone working in the industry is helping to create a dream come true, be it for a yacht charterer or an Owner. It takes experienced and dedicated people to know which yachts are available, every single detail about the yacht and whether it would be suitable for a particular client, not to mention the teams that are making sure that the yachts are always running safely and efficiently. The reason for Fraser’s success is that all the staff are just as dedicated and passionate as David was (and still is!). This, combined with the ethical business practices that David instilled in his team are still the core values of the company today. Furthermore, the dynamic management team that has been carefully selected to steer the company whilst ensuring transparency across all sectors is why Fraser is a globally recognised leader of the industry and will drive it forward for many more years to come.

A beginner’s guide For those that have never booked a yacht charter before you may have a myriad questions about the booking process, the costs and what the crew do. Below is a quick guide to help make your first charter experience smooth sailing.
A standard yacht charter is normally seven full days, so if you board at 3pm on a Saturday you can stay until 3pm the following Saturday. Charterers may choose to book the yacht for a longer or shorter period, although some yachts will not accept shorter bookings during the peak season.
P R E PA R AT I O N
We advise booking your charter at least six months in advance to be sure of getting your preferred yacht and dates, especially for larger yachts, some of the most popular yachts can be fully booked up to a year in advance. There is an abundance of destinations to choose from, charter yachts can be found in almost any ocean these days. Facilities ashore may vary but the yacht will always provide exceptional service and the crew will help to create unforgettable experiences, whether you’re cruising along the Amalfi Coast or breaking ice in the Antarctic. However not all yachts are available to US residents while in US waters.
FINANCIALS
The high week rate is normally for July and August, plus special events such as the Monaco Grand Prix, Cannes Film Festival, Christmas and New Year holidays. The low rate is normally used at all other times. The charter price includes the cost of chartering the yacht, the crew and the yacht’s insurance. However items such as fuel, dockage, food and beverages are paid separately through the Advanced Provisioning Allowance (APA). This is normally estimated at an extra 20-30% of the charter rate. All expenses are accounted for by the Captain and if there are any unused funds at the end of the charter they are returned to the charterer.
ON BOARD
The professional crew will offer you top-class personal service around the clock. They’re at your disposal 24/7 and ready to serve from the moment you step on board. Most modern motor and sailing yachts are equipped with the very latest technology and communications equipment including cellular and global satellite telecommunications so you can stay in touch wherever you cruise.
Special thanks to the Owner and crew of motor yacht LADY SARA where many of the images in this section and throughout this book were taken. LADY SARA is available for charter (pg 154) through Fraser.

The onboard experience Have you ever wondered what you might actually do all day while on board a superyacht? For those that have never experienced this floating haven before, here are just a few of the many activities that can fill your day while cruising some of the world’s most magnificent coast lines.
RISE AND SHINE
AND RELA X
Wake up in a new beautiful anchorage and head straight outside into the sunshine, guests can choose between an early morning swim or yoga on the aft deck. When you are ready, breakfast will be served on the sun deck. Fresh fruit, homemade pastries, juice, or even the traditional fry up – whatever takes your fancy, the chef can prepare.
After a fun packed morning it’s time to relax and take in some sun on the sun deck, Jacuzzi or enjoy some quiet time with a good book. Once you’ve recharged your batteries head ashore for shopping, taking in the local sights or just to have a stroll. SUNDOWNERS
Enjoy cocktails on the sun deck whilst watching the sun go down. Then choose between dinner on board or jumping on the tender to go ashore and try out a local restaurant. Alternatively, you could even ask the chef and crew to prepare you a private dinner on the beach under the stars… Anything is possible!
SPLASH TIME
The crew will always have the watersports equipment ready and raring to go. Dive into the crystal blue sea with a Seabob, test your abilities on water-skis, race around on a Waverunner or simply float in an aqua lounge… the choice is yours. The crew will be waiting to assist and give guidance wherever needed.
A F TER DA R K
Take in a show, club or casino ashore. The crew will take care of any reservations, so you can just simply relax and enjoy the atmosphere. Later, once everyone is safely back on board, the yacht will quietly cruise to your next destination while you drift off into a much needed sleep on the luxurious king size bed.
LUNCH IS SERVED
Your favourite foods will have been relayed to the chef, so he/she can prepare you a magnificent feast, served by the highly experienced crew. Whether you want a light lunch of fresh fish caught earlier that day, a BBQ on the sundeck or a taste of exquisite cuisine from the other side of the world, the chef will be able to prepare it for you.
25
26
Always at your service One of the most important aspects of a luxury yacht charter is the crew. They will be on board 24/7 taking care of your every whim so it is important that you find a yacht with the best crew to suit your preferences.
find themselves in a difficult situation, but you can rest assured that if you do the experienced crew will be there to take care of everything in the most professional manner.
THE ROLE OF CREW
From the moment you make an enquiry for a yacht, the crew may begin working for you. The Captain will be liaising with your charter broker, understanding where you want to go, what you want to do and ensuring that they are able to fulfil your dreams.
O U R A P P R E C I AT I O N
No matter which yacht you charter or where you choose to cruise, the crew will always be the key factor in turning your holiday into the trip of a lifetime. That is why we at Fraser reward the crew on our yachts with our Annual Captain’s Dinner and Awards.
The Captain will then create a more detailed itinerary, finalising his recommendations of which restaurants to try, which bays to visit and when to move between locations to optimise your time at each destination. While the chef and chief stewardess will be preparing everything you need based on the all-important preference sheet that you will have completed.
This year, Captain Graham Wilkinson of S/Y PRANA (pg 264), was the proud recipient of a Ulysse Nardin timepiece and numerous other prizes as the winning Captain. The prize for Best Charter Crew over 50m, went to Captain Andrea Aste and his team on M/Y VICTORY (pg 170), while Captain Claud Akers and his wife Emma from M/Y ASKARI (pg 243) collected the award for Best Charter Crew under 50m.
Once you actually step on board the yacht you will experience the world’s best service first hand. Whether you prefer the crew to remain discreet and in the background or to get involved and take you on a magical tour of the local sites they will do whatever is needed to ensure that you have the most enjoyable stay and never want to leave.
Whilst there can only be three winners each year we can guarantee that on every yacht you charter with Fraser you will find the most amazing dedicated crew ready to create your ultimate holiday experience.
However it’s not just about the ultimate service, the crew are also a highly trained team, there to ensure the safety and security of the yacht and all those on board at all times. Nobody wants to

Frozen planet Antarctica truly is one of the last places on earth yet to be fully explored. Chartering a specially built yacht designed to cut through the thick ice surrounding this continent is a unique experience. Teeming with natural wildlife, incredible ice formations, volcanic islands and historic remnants of past explorations, the possibilities are endless and with nearly 24 hours of daylight, you will have all the time in the world to discover them.
W H AT TO SEE & DO
There are several options for exploring Antarctica. Fly straight to King George Island off the Antarctic Peninsula for a 10-day charter or choose a longer cruise, starting from Argentina or the Falkland Islands.
Pass between the soaring cliffs of Neumayer Channel to reach one of Antarctica’s most exciting anchorages, Port Lockroy, a designated Historic Site and part of the British Antarctic Territory.
Among the highlights of the region are the South Shetland Islands, home to numerous penguin, elephant seal and seabird breeding colonies. Cruising the coastline, keep an eye out for whales, seals and other marine life, and pay a visit to volcanic Deception Island.
The Melchior Islands in Dallmann Bay offer more wildlife encounters and magnificent glaciers whilst Livingston Island, further north, is more rocky land with less snow and ice cover, playing host to a great variety of wildlife.
Antarctic Sound lies off the tip of the Antarctic Peninsula where massive tabular icebergs drift north from the Weddell Sea. You may catch a glimpse of the elusive Emperor Penguin in this spectacular region.

A passion for success The Azimut | Benetti Group is the largest and most successful shipyard in the world, building the highest number of superyachts each year by far. Its production even out-ranks all of the small yacht production builders in terms of length by more than 50% compared to their closest competitors.
The Group offers the most extensive range of yachts in the world, built across three production sites. Benetti alone currently has 33 yachts under construction including three over 100 metres.
This unique structure allows yacht Owners to benefit from full assistance, expertise and professional advice through one single organisation. This ensures peace of mind throughout the entire lifecycle of ownership, from acquisition to operation and on to refit and sale, enabling clients to derive significant benefits from greater expertise and efficiency.
The Group’s success comes from its passion for what it builds and the service it provides, the care it takes of yacht Owners and the desire to experiment with new technologies and ideas; always with the mission to surpass itself. This combined with a solid organisation, a clear strategic plan and some of the most experienced staff in the industry allows the Group to continue to lead the way across every sector it operates in.
Fraser is also part owned by V.Ships, the world’s leading maritime services provider, specialising in the technical management of high value maritime assets. This partnership provides access to specialist technical expertise and access to a truly global support network with 64 offices in 30 countries, including several state of the art training centres for crew.
Azimut | Benetti is more than just a shipyard, it also offers financial services, marinas, an incredible refit and repair facility for yachts ranging from 20 to 120m and a state of the art luxury showroom for Owners to choose every last detail of the decoration of their yacht.
Fraser is proud to have been part of the Azimut | Benetti Group and V.Ships for over 12 years, with all three companies sharing the common factor of being driven by passion for what they do, enabling them to achieve and exceed their goals, time and time again.

Words of gratitude Creating this book is always one of the biggest challenges the marketing team faces every year. Hot on the heels of the autumnal boat show period we have to re-energise and put all our focus into creating the Charter Portfolio. However this year work began early in the summer to redesign the book and give it a new look as part of the celebrations for our 70th anniversary. We hope you like the redesign and it inspires you to take the first step to your next luxury charter experience.
The Fraser charter marketing team for providing, then checking every last yacht detail and image over and over again until everything is just right. The charter brokers for your expert advice and inside knowledge on each of the beautiful destinations you can explore while on board these magnificent yachts. The marketing team, for all of your hard work in collecting the data, writing the texts and checking each last detail until you know every page off by heart.
It has been a long six months but we feel that the effort is worth it. You are looking for the world’s ultimate holiday experience and we believe that every encounter you have along the way should reflect that experience.
The whole Fraser team around the world, who truly are the most dedicated and passionate professionals in every single aspect of luxury yacht services.
Once again we have been astounded by the effort that everyone puts into this project. Working to a tight schedule at the busiest time of the year everyone involved goes above and beyond to ensure that this book is truly exceptional and delivered on time.
An enormous thank you to all of the talented and dedicated photographers whose magnificent pictures bring these impressive yachts to life; these include Thierry Ameller, Jeff Brown, AMELS, Stephane Delavega, Franck Dromas, Jim Raycroft, Tim Kindler, Alexis Andrews, Quin Bisset, Marc Paris, Tahiti Tourism and Asia Pacific Superyachts.
There are always too many people to mention each one individually but we have to say a special word of thanks to the following: Debora Berardi, Andrew Thomas and their team at Inaria for your exquisite design work, attention to detail and once again going above and beyond to ensure that everything is perfect.
And of course the Owners, charterers and Captains for your continued trust and faith in Fraser to handle your charters and your yachts with professionalism and discretion. It is for you that we always work so hard to ensure that you have the greatest yachting experience possible.
