In His Steps: Radical Generosity
Dr. Chris Montgomery | Aug. 18, 2024
(2 Corinthians 4:14-18) We know that God, who raised the Lord Jesus, will also raise us with Jesus and present us to himself together with you. 15 All of this is for your benefit. And as God’s grace reaches more and more people, there will be great thanksgiving, and God will receive more and more glory. 16 That is why we never give up. Though our bodies are dying, our spirits are being renewed every day. 17 For our present troubles are small and won’t last very long. Yet they produce for us a glory that vastly outweighs them and will last forever! 18 So we don’t look at the troubles we can see now; rather, we fix our gaze on things that cannot be seen. For the things we see now will soon be gone, but the things we cannot see will last forever.
(2 Corinthians 4:18) For the things we see now will soon be gone, but the things we cannot see will last forever.
(2 Cor 4:15-16) And as God’s grace reaches more and more people, there will be great thanksgiving, and God will receive more and more glory. 16 That is why we never give up.
1. I must keep my heart and eyes aligned on eternal investments.
(Matthew 6:19-24) “Don’t store treasures for yourselves here on earth where moths and rust will destroy them and thieves can break in and steal them. 20 But store your treasures in heaven where they cannot be destroyed by moths or rust and where thieves cannot break in and steal them. 21 Your heart will be where your treasure is.
22 “The eye is a light for the body. If your eyes are good, your whole body will be full of light. 23 But if your eyes are evil, your whole body will be full of darkness. And if the only light you have is really darkness, then you have the worst darkness. 24 “No one can serve two masters. The person will hate one master and love the other, or will follow one master and refuse to follow the other. You cannot serve both God and worldly riches.
(Ephesians 1:17) I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened…
2. I must keep my heart and mind aligned with an eternal perspective.
3. Radical generosity only happens when an eternal perspective is present.
4. I will only ever be as generous as I believe God to be.
