In His Steps: Passionate Prayer
Dr. Chris Montgomery | Aug. 4, 2024
Are you ready to sing the song God wrote for you to sing?
When we hear the word commitment, we immediately become claustrophobic.
I have to make a commitment to be God’s version of me.
God has called me to pray passionate prayers.
(Luke 22:39-44) And he came out and went, as was his custom, to the Mount of Olives, and the disciples followed him. 40 And when he came to the place, he said to them, “Pray that you may not enter into temptation.” 41 And he withdrew from them about a stone’s throw, and knelt down and prayed, 42 saying, “Father, if you are willing, remove this cup from me. Nevertheless, not my will, but yours, be done.” 43 And there appeared to him an angel from heaven, strengthening him. 44 And being in agony he prayed more earnestly; and his sweat became like great drops of blood falling down to the ground.
A call to pray is a call to care.
(Jeremiah 20:9) If I say, “I will not mention him, or speak any more in his name,” there is in my heart as it were a burning fire shut up in my bones, and I am weary with holding it in, and I cannot.
(Ezekiel 36:26) I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit in you; I will remove from you your heart of stone and give you a heart of flesh.
