City of Frederick Parks and Recreation is working diligently to minimize the risk of COVID-19 exposure. We have updated our policies and procedure to meet recommendations made by the CDC. We must acknowledge that we cannot guarantee that there will be no exposure to COVID-19, but all our recent policy updates have been made to minimize the risk.

We request that all participants engage in a home screening process. If you or anyone in your immediate household is demonstrating any symptoms of COVID-19 or if you have come in close contact with someone that has COVID-19 (or is displaying symptoms) we ask that you do not participate in programs and follow the CDC guidelines for self-quarantine..


Playground Program Dates: 7/6 to 8/21 Hours: Mondays to Fridays, 8:00 am - 5:00 pm Age: 6 to 12 (Must be six on or before 7/6/20 - proof of age for 6-year-olds required) Fee: $95 city / $135 non-city Locations: Greenleaf, Hillcrest, Lake Coventry, Monocacy Village, Overlook, and Willow Brook Park The Summer 2020 Playground Program will be a modified program. Modifications include health precautions including daily temperature head readings and questions for staff and campers. Youth will be placed in cohort groups of no more than 9. Cohort groups will be the same every day for the duration of the program. Scheduled check-in times will be established for participants. Participants will be required to bring their own lunch each day, no refrigeration is provided. Playgrounds will open and remain open for light rain and will close if a storm arises or if rain is heavy (and we are unable to stay dry under the pavilions). We will attempt to reopen in the afternoon if the rain closes us in the morning. Please make sure children are appropriately dressed for the weather. Parents/Guardians need to be aware of weather conditions throughout the day, so they can arrange pick up of children in case of playground closings due to the weather

Private Tennis Instruction Age: 6 & up Fee: Individual $40 per hour city / $50 per hour non city; 2 people - $50 per hour city/ $60 per hour non city (cost is total for both people) Learn the fundamentals of the sport of tennis. Develop your tennis game with one on one instruction. Times are coordinated by the tennis coordinator to meet instructor and participant availability. Basketball Summer Skills Clinic Age: Grades 1st to 5th in Fall 2020 Dates: Monday, 7/13 to Friday, 7/17 Time: 9:00 am to 12:00 noon Location: Carrolton Park, 455 Center Street Frederick, MD 21701 Fee: $80 Coordinator: Saniya Dorsey The clinic will focus on the fundamentals of basketball. We will work on dribble control, the fundamentals of shooting, offensive and defensive techniques, along with hand and eye skills in a positive and fun environment. Participants should bring a water bottle and a snack each day.

This paddle sport was created for all ages and skill levels. The rules are simple and the game is easy for beginners to learn, but an develop into a quick, fast-paced, competitive game for experienced players.

Fitness Class Descriptions Cardio Strength Combines traditional step aerobics with an additional cardio component, sculpting, and abs. This is a great workout with diverse music, fun & friends.

City Cycle Bring your outdoor ride indoors! You’ll enjoy pumping music, a safe, high intensity cardiovascular workout all on an indoor bike. We use brand new Matrix bikes and you’re guaranteed to work up a sweat and have fun doing it!

Gentle Yoga/ Gentle Flow A calming, stress-relieving yoga class to stretch and strengthen the body gradually. Emphasis is on building awareness of the breath and the body. Focus is on basic poses, breath and alignment. Standing balance poses will be practiced minimally and modifications will be provided. A great next step if you have been practicing beginner yoga.

Mixed Level Flow Yoga Builds on the foundations of FLOW 1/2, but with additional poses and challenges for the intermediate to advanced yoga practice

Power Sculpt A total body workout that incorporates the use of light, medium, and heavy weights for a combination strength and cardio workout
