Fair Being Prepped for 2022
Horse racers, livestock exhibitors and fans of the Gillespie County Fair are ready for the event’s 134th rendition.
The 2022 fair will be its 134th year, and people from around the county and the Texas Hill Country are ready for what it has to offer. Fair dates for this season are Aug. 25-28 at the Gillespie County Fair Grounds.

Sponsored by the Gillespie County Fair and Festivals Association, the 134th Gillespie County Fair will include two days of live parimutuel horse racing, a carnival and midway, displays of agricultural and home products, a parade, a queen’s contest, antique machinery displays, musical entertainment and a livestock exhibition.
The 134th Gillespie County Fair opens on Thursday, Aug. 25, at 5 p.m. with free admission to the grounds.
Free Tejano concerts will be provided by Erik Y Massores beginning at 7 p.m.
There is a charge for the carnival and midway, which also opens Thursday and continues throughout the weekend.
Earlier on Thursday, entries will be taken in the agriculture and home skills departments from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Judging gets underway at 6:30 p.m.
The Gillespie County Fair Parade will make its way along Main Street, Friday morning, Aug. 26, starting at 10 a.m.
After the parade, events shift back to the fair grounds site where the gates open at 1 p.m.
The 2023 Gillespie County Fair Queen and her court will be crowned during ceremonies planned Friday, Aug. 26, at 7 p.m.
Catalog dedications will also be made that night.
The 134th Gillespie County Fair is dedicated to honorary lifetime directors Ruben Sagebiel and Dorman Schmidt.
A concert and dance, featuring the music of Jake & the Outsiders will take place Friday, Aug. 27, starting at 8 p.m. on the outdoor pavilion.

Live pari-mutuel horse racing will be offered Saturday and Sunday, Aug. 27-28, with post time at 1 p.m. both days.
Lindsey Lane will play Aug. 27. jack Ingram and David Lee Murphy will also perform - times TBD.
The 2022 racing season at the Class III facility at the fair grounds concludes on Sunday.
Highlighting the racing program on the final day of the season will be the running of the 2022 Gillespie County Fair Futurity.
Throughout the weekend, the Exhibition Hall will be open for those interested in viewing the agricultural and home products displays, educational exhibits and more.
Plenty of food and drink will be available throughout the weekend.
