Magazine Cover Documentation

I Took a photo of a piece of work a 6th former was working on in the art department that I thought would stand out as a cover for a school magazine and make the readers want to find out more.

I used the blur tool to make the photo seem like a more crisp, in focus and high quality image.

I then played with the brightness, contrast, saturation and colour scheme.

I then began choosing my font (REBOARD) and title. I chose this font as it is quite sharp and edgy and think this works with the way I intend the magazine to be. It looks modern and might help in making the reader feel like it is very current. I made a second layer in which I erased everything in the image except for the skull in the jacket and placed the text layer between the two, this created the effect of the writing being behind the skull and in front of the wall behind it.

I then added in text boxes including the splash and other features that may lure the reader.

I also added a barcode in the bottom right hand corner.

For final touches I added a strap line and changed some colours and positioning in the fonts.
