BBQ for Belize The Belize Mission Team invites you to join them for some BBQ for Belize next Sunday, March 5th from 5-7 p.m. at Backwoods BBQ (320 FM 2093). The team will be serving up plates of your choice of brisket or sausage, potato salad, cheesy green beans and a homemade dessert. Plates are $12 each, and you can get your tickets ahead of time in the church office, or by getting in touch with Joel at joel@fredumc.org.
What’s Ahead FOUNDATION AWARENESS MONTH The Entire Month of February Contact: Hugh Reeves (seveer@prodigy.net) February is our Fredericksburg United Methodist Church Foundation Awareness Month. The FUMC Foundation was established to provide a means through which enduring charitable gifts will become a living memorial and a perpetual source of financial support to benefit the church and its programs. It is the vehicle for receiving and managing gifts that look to the future and enhance the ability of the church to promote its ministries and care for its property. MEDIA PROGRAM MANAGER NEEDED Contact: Don Doss (don@fredumc.org or 997-7679) We are looking for a part-time media program manager to oversee all of our sound and media technologies for worship and other functions and events! The position starts immediately, is about 15 hours a week and includes Thursday evening praise team rehearsals and Sunday morning worship services, as well as special events as needed (weddings, funerals, conferences, etc.) Applicants should have a thorough understanding of sound equipment and management, as well as worship media programs (ProPresenter preferred). Noteworthy News.. -January/February’s edition of The Thread is here! Check it out right here on Issuu. The deadline for the March/April edition is THIS WEDNESDAY, March 1st. Email submissions to newsletter@fredumc.org -The Season of Lent begins this week! Lent, a time of spiritual preparation for the celebration of Easter, begins with Ash Wednesday on March 1st. We will have an Ash Wednesday service at 12 noon and 6 p.m. that day, as well as a 4:30 children’s service. -Each Wednesday, a group of women sing at the Fredericksburg Nursing Home from 1010:30 a.m. These ladies are in need of a new piano player! If you would like to use your talent to help bless nursing home residents, please contact Roselie Miiller at 997-2780 -Don’t forget that each Thursday, Pastor George invites you to a short prayer and communion service at 12 noon in the Sanctuary. This is a time to grow in your personal prayer life, pray together, and lift up our individual prayer needs. All are welcome! -The Congregational Care Committee and the Stephen Ministry Team has added a “Wall of Love” in the foyer by the Stephen Ministry banner before entering the Fellowship Hall on the right. You will find a wide range of Spiritual Growth pamphlets for your personal devotion or as a gift to a friend during their time of stress or spiritual concern. Ongoing Ministries ADULT SUNDAY SCHOOL Sundays at 10 a.m. We have six adult Sunday school classes available each Sunday morning. Choose Life meets in Room 6-8, Encouragers meets in Room 7-9, Inquirers meet in the Family Room. The Family meets in Room 11, Searchers meet in Room 10, and Thee Bible Class meets in Room 2. MUSIC MINISTRY Our vibrant music ministry is under the direction of Don Doss, who leads the Chancel
Choir and Contemporary Praise Team. Choir rehearses at 7 p.m. on Wednesday evenings in the Sanctuary, and Praise Team rehearses on Thursday evenings at 6:30 p.m. in the Sanctuary. Our Praise Team leads contemporary worship at 9 a.m. on Sundays (sound check at 8:15), and our Chancel Choir leads the traditional service at 11:10. Wesleyan Hand Bell Choir that
rehearses at 6 p.m. on Wednesdays in the Sanctuary, under the direction of Deborah Agnew. To join this joyful ministry, contact Deborah at 997-5339, or dgagnew28@gmail.com
GRIEF SUPPORT GROUP Wednesdays at 5:30 p.m. Contact: Rick McMinn (830-370-9237 ) When asked, most of us share the death of a loved one as our experience with grief. In our hearts and souls there are many, many losses--childhood pet, best friend, spouse in divorce, family in divorce, house fire, job, beloved mentor, and so many others. We carry them in special places of honor within ourselves. We invite you to come and join our group to share with others these special memories and have them honored and celebrated by a group of fellow-travelers of life. TREE HOUSE KIDS’ CLUB Wednesdays after school beginning January 18th Contact: Lisa Davis (lisa@fredumc.org) Cost: None Kids k-5 are invited to Treehouse Kids’ club each week for a fun afternoon of discovering the Truth of God's word. That means we’re offering a whole afternoon of music instruction for kiddos in our community! BACK PORCH YOUTH MINISTRY Back Porch Night, Every Wednesday from 5:30-8 p.m., Back Porch Contact: Joel Griffin (joel@fredumc.org) Cost: None Middle school youth starts at 5:30 p.m., and high school youth starts at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday evenings in the youth room (back porch).
