The Week That Changed the World Holy Week begins today with our annual Palmz in the Platz celebration! Stick around after worship (beginning at 11 a.m.) for a fellowship meal and children’s Easter Egg hunt. We will continue preparing our hearts for Easter with a Maundy Thursday communion service at 7 p.m. this Thursday, April 13th, and on Good Friday, April 14th, our Chancel Choir and orchestra will present “The Seven Last Words of Christ,” also at 7 p.m. (more details below). We will have a sunrise service at 7:07 a.m. on Easter morning, followed by our usual 9 a.m. contemporary and 11:10 a.m. traditional services. Our children’s ministry is also hosting a petting zoo on Easter morning, and Pastor George will do a blessing of the animals between the 9 a.m. and 11:10 a.m. services. All are invited to join us as we celebrate the joy of the resurrection this Easter!

What’s Ahead GOOD FRIDAY MUSICAL PRESENTATION Friday, April 14th at 7 p.m. in the Sanctuary Contact: Don Doss (don@fredumc.org or 997-7679) The music ministry team of Fredericksburg UMC is excited to present “The Seven Last Words of Christ,” a musical written by Theodore Dubois and first performed in 1867. It has since been revered as a classical standard in the observance of the Passion of our Lord. Our Chancel Choir and orchestra, under the direction of our director of music ministries, Don Doss, will present “The Seven Last Words of Christ” at a Good Friday service on April 14th at 7 p.m. To learn more about the musical or the presentation, contact Don. FAMILY FUN NIGHT– BOWLING EVENT Sunday, April 23rd from 5 p.m.– 8 p.m. BB’s Billiards and Bowling (758 S. Washington Street) Cost: $7 for two games and shoe rental Contact: Kenneth Williams (kennethewms@gmail.com) We invite you to a night of fun and fellowship at BB’s Billiards and Bowling! 2016: A YEAR OF FRUITFULNESS Contact: Bud Harris (budharris3@aol.com) Before the new year started, your faithful Church Council Chair, Bud Harris, asked mission and ministry leaders in the church to submit a summary of all the things they accomplished in 2016. Bud has been working hard to put those submissions into a comprehensive report for you! We are excited to share how the Holy Spirit has been moving in all the wonderful and diverse areas of our church, revealing God's expansive love and faithfulness to His people. A Year of Fruitfulness is available online at fredumc.org! We'll have hard copies available for you soon as well.

Noteworthy News.. -The March/April edition of the Thread is here! You can check it out right here on Issuu. -FUMC is looking to host a Young Women’s Mini Retreat; and we need your help! We are looking for young women of all talents to help plan this event. The retreat will be a one day event with fellowship, worship, lunch and fun! If you would like more information on how you can be a part of the Retreat Planning Team, email Jeri Neal at atkins.jeri@gmail.com. -Our UMW is looking for anyone who sells items on Ebay or Etsy (or a similar site). They need to sell some bigger items left over from the Bazaar. If you can help, contact Gwen Kordzik at 830-685-3536. -On Easter Sunday we are going to have a children’s petting zoo and a “blessing of the animals.” We still need some baby critters to participate, so if you’ve had any new additions you might be willing to share with us for a few hours on Easter Sunday morning, contact Lisa Davis at lisa@fredumc.org, or call the office at 997-7679. -Our Spring/Summer Programming Guide is available now! HELP NEEDED– MEALS FOR MINISTRY Christian Job Corps of Gillespie County 501c3’s first classes have begun! This allvolunteer ministry provides job and life skills training, including Christian education, free to the participants. An important part of the program is a meal together. You can help! The women meet T-W-Th from 11 a.m.—2 p.m., so lunch is needed. The men meet T-W-Th from 6-9 p.m., so a light dinner is needed. We are asking for volunteers to provide a healthy meal for 5 each of these days through May 25th. If your Sunday school class, small group or individuals can help with a meal please call Connie Cowan, the Women's Site Coordinator, at 830-456-8234, or Arlie Lammers, the Men's Site Coordinator 830-285-5238 It would be extremely helpful if you could choose a day and sponsor the meal for the next 8 weeks on the day you choose (ie: each Tues noon, or Wed evening etc). Thank you!

ADULT SUNDAY SCHOOL

Ongoing Ministries

Sundays at 10 a.m. We have six adult Sunday school classes available each Sunday morning. Choose Life meets in Room 6-8, Encouragers meets in Room 7-9, Inquirers meet in the Family Room. The Family meets in Room 11, Searchers meet in Room 10, and Thee Bible Class meets in Room 2. To learn more about each class, visit the Welcome Desk, or call the church office at 997-7679.

MUSIC MINISTRY Our vibrant music ministry is under the direction of Don Doss, who leads the Chancel

Choir and Contemporary Praise Team. Choir rehearses at 7 p.m. on Wednesday evenings in the Sanctuary, and Praise Team rehearses on Thursday evenings at 6:30 p.m. in the Sanctuary. Our Praise Team leads contemporary worship at 9 a.m. on Sundays (sound check at 8:15), and our Chancel Choir leads the traditional service at 11:10. Wesleyan Hand Bell Choir that

TREE HOUSE KIDS’ CLUB Wednesdays after school beginning January 18th Contact: Lisa Davis (lisa@fredumc.org) Cost: None Kids k-5 are invited to Treehouse Kids’ club each week for a fun afternoon of discovering the Truth of God's word. Transportation from school is provided, along with an after school snack. Contact Lisa for more information about the program or to get involved as a volunteer at lisa@fredumc.org or 997-7679. NEW DAY KMA Thursdays after school Contact: Don Doss (don@fredumc.org or 997-7679) Cost: General music education free, contact Don for special instrument instruction tuition Our Kid’s Music Academy is now on THURSDAYS! That means we’re offering a whole afternoon of music instruction for kiddos in our community! To register your child, or to get involved as a volunteer, get in touch with our Music Minister, Don Doss! Registration packets are available in the church office.

BACK PORCH YOUTH MINISTRY Back Porch Night, Every Wednesday from 5:30-8 p.m., Back Porch Contact: Joel Griffin (joel@fredumc.org) Cost: None Middle school youth starts at 5:30 p.m., and high school youth starts at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday evenings in the youth room (back porch). Our regular Sunday Schedule is contemporary worship at 9 a.m., Sunday school for adults, children and youth at 10 a.m., and traditional worship at 11:10 a.m. Our regular office hours are Monday-Thursday from 8 a.m.– 5 p.m. (closed from 12-1 p.m. for lunch).
