What’s Ahead VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL AHEAD July 10th-14th from 9 a.m.—12 noon Contact: Lisa Davis (lisa@fredumc.org, 830-997-7679) It’s that time of year again! Vacation Bible School is coming up in July, and we need volunteers! We’ll need group leaders, assistant leaders, activity leaders, and helpers in the kitchen and on the cleanup crew, VBS is for children ages four—5th grade, and registration is open now for participants and volunteers at www.vbspro.events/p/ fredumc. Our theme this year is “Maker Fun Factory,” and it’s all about being created by God for a purpose. This is one of the most important outreach ministries of our church, and a great way to share the love of God with kiddos in our community! Still not convinced? Pick up the latest edition of The Thread and read the Top Ten Reasons to Help at VBS feature on page 4! If you are interested in learning more, get in touch with Lisa.

If you have any of the above items, drop them off in the church office! -Each summer, many of our choir members travel, leaving the choir loft looking a little empty on Sunday mornings. If you’ve ever thought about joining the choir, the summer months are a great time to check it out! Rehearsals are at 6 p.m. on Wednesday evenings. You can contact Don Doss at don@fredumc.org for more information. We hope you’ll consider becoming a “Summer Hummer.” -Our Spring/Summer Programming Guide is available now! Our Garden of Eatin’ Looking for a flexible part-time volunteer opportunity that supports good health? Consider joining our gardening crew at Fredericksburg United Methodist Church’s Garden of Eatin’. We typically prep and plant the church garden in March/April with varieties of squash, tomatoes, egg plant, peppers and flowers. The garden has started producing for this season, and our first delivery of 25 pounds of squash was made to the Fredericksburg Food Pantry in May. We anticipate our tomatoes ripening mid to late June. Jobs in the garden revolve around the garden’s ever-changing needs, but volunteers might help chop weeds, pick vegetables or deliver veggies to the food pantry. Deliveries to the food pantry are made on Monday, Wednesday and/ or Fridays depending on quantity of produce available. Sometimes we leave pickings at the church and/or pass some on to others. Last year we raised approximately 1,200-1,500 pounds of produce. We are looking for more active participants to help with the random picking and delivery of veggies. If you would like to join our group, please contact either David or Mary Wiemers at 830-997 -4902. If you haven’t seen our garden recently, please feel free to go and take a look at it! It’s located at the far end of the parking lot behind the covered bus barn. Thank you and God bless.
Ongoing Ministries VISITATION DISCIPLES NEEDED Contact: Alice Hahn (998-7440, akghahn22@gmail.com) Thanks to the responsiveness of our members, the Congregational Care Visitation Group now numbers 22 disciples! We have just enough to minister to our existing list of homebound members. We are asking your help to allow us to expand our homebound ministry. Disciples in this ministry visit homebound members once or twice a month, send cards and/or make phone calls to recognize birthdays, anniversaries, and other special events, and find other creative ways of demonstrating their caring and support. Some of these disciples also deliver communion once a month to the homes of the members who request it. If you feel a calling to help in this ministry, please contact Alice G. Hahn!
