Ice and Fire: Chung Kuo Series A war is fought within the levels of Chung Kuo's great world-spanning City in the fourth entry in this epic series The year is 2201. Chung Kuo, the great City that covers the globe, enjoys an uneasy peace, but it is a peace that will soon be disrupted by the discovery of the Aristotle File, which charts the real history of the world—a truth which has been suppressed for millennia. Cold, cruel, and calculating, Howard DeVore is determined to end the rule of the Seven T'angs and make way for his own bid for power. The harbinger of Change is the starship The New Hope—and its destruction will force the rebel factions into open warfare with the Seven. The Fight begins.

The Middle Kingdom The third entry in a 20-volume masterpiece of worldbuilding to match George R. R. Martin's Song of Ice and Fire The year is 2196. The great Empire of Ice, Chung Kuo, has finally been shaken after more than a century of peace enforced by brutal tyranny. The Minister of the Edict—an official responsible for licensing all technology that could lead to Change—has been assassinated. The seven ruling T'ang struggle to maintain Stasis, even as their mile-high, continent-spanning cities descend into chaos. Amid the chaos, the rebels responsible for the assassination seize the opportunity to effect Change. But the assassination was orchestrated by those far closer to the ruling power and this betrayal, the first of many, will lead them all into the world-shattering War of Two Directions.

Son of Heaven The year is 2085, two decades after the great economic collapse that destroyed Western civilization. With its power broken and its cities ruined, life in the West continues in scattered communities. In rural Dorset, Jake Reed lives with his 14-year-old son and memories of the great collapse. Back in '43, Jake was a rich, young futures broker, immersed in the datascape of the world's financial markets. He saw what was coming—and who was behind it. Forewarned, he was one of the few to escape the fall. For 22 years he has lived in fear of the future, and finally it is coming—quite literally—across the plain toward him. Chinese airships are in the skies and a strange, glacial structure has begun to dominate the horizon. Jake finds himself forcibly incorporated into the ever-expanding "World of Levels," a global city of some 34 billion souls, where social status is reflected by how far above the ground you live. Here, under the rule of the mighty Tsao Ch'un, a resurgent China is seeking to abolish the past and bring about world peace through rigidly enforced order—but a civil war looms, and Jake will find himself at the heart of the struggle for the future.

The Vanishing Point One of the finest crime writers we have, Val McDermid’s heart-stopping thrillers have won her international renown and a devoted following of readers worldwide. In The Vanishing Point, she kicks off a terrifying thriller with a nightmare scenario: a parent who loses her child in a bustling international airport. Young Jimmy Higgins is snatched from an airport security checkpoint while his guardian watches helplessly from the glass inspection box. But this is no ordinary abduction, as Jimmy is no ordinary child. His mother was Scarlett, a reality TV star who, dying of cancer and alienated from her unreliable family, entrusted the boy to the person she believed best able to give him a happy, stable life: her ghost writer, Stephanie Harker. Assisting the FBI in their attempt to recover the missing boy, Stephanie reaches into the past to uncover the motive for the abduction. Has Jimmy been taken by his own relatives? Is Stephanie’s obsessive ex-lover trying to teach her a lesson? Has one of Scarlett’s stalkers come back to haunt them all? A powerful, grippingly-plotted thriller that will keep readers on the edge of their seats until the end, The Vanishing Point showcases McDermid at the height of her talent.

Dreamers of the Day

“I suppose I ought to warn you at the outset that my present circumstances are puzzling, even to me. Nevertheless, I am sure of this much: My little story has become your history. You won’t really understand your times until you understand mine.” So begins the account of Agnes Shanklin, the charmingly diffident narrator of Mary Doria Russell’s compelling new novel, Dreamers of the Day. And what is Miss Shanklin’s “little story?” Nothing less than the creation of the modern Middle East at the 1921 Cairo Peace Conference, where Winston Churchill, T. E. Lawrence, and Lady Gertrude Bell met to decide the fate of the Arab world–and of our own. A forty-year-old schoolteacher from Ohio still reeling from the tragedies of the Great War and the influenza epidemic, Agnes has come into a modest inheritance that allows her to take the trip of a lifetime to Egypt and the Holy Land. Arriving at the Semiramis Hotel just as the Peace Conference convenes, Agnes, with her plainspoken American opinions–and a small, noisy dachshund named Rosie–enters into the company of the historic luminaries who will, in the space of a few days at a hotel in Cairo, invent the nations of Iraq, Syria, Lebanon, Israel, and Jordan. Neither a pawn nor a participant at the conference, Agnes is ostensibly insignificant, and that makes her a welcome sounding board for Churchill, Lawrence, and Bell. It also makes her unexpectedly attractive to the charismatic German spy Karl Weilbacher. As Agnes observes the tumultuous inner workings of nation-building, she is drawn more and more deeply into geopolitical intrigue and toward a personal awakening. With prose as graceful and effortless as a seductive float down the Nile, Mary Doria Russell illuminates the long, rich history of the Middle East with a story that brilliantly elucidates today’s headlines. As enlightening as it is entertaining, Dreamers of the Day is a memorable, passionate, gorgeously written novel.

Running Dark From internationally bestselling author Jamie Freveletti comes a riveting new thriller featuring brilliant biochemist Emma Caldridge, except this time there's nowhere to run. . . . Emma Caldridge is on mile thirty-six of the fifty-five-mile Comrades ultramarathon in South Africa when a roadside car bomb explodes. Dazed and disoriented, she regains consciousness after the blast to find a man standing over her with a white plastic injector. She feels the prick of a needle and the rush of medication under her skin, but before she can make a sound, the man is gone. Shaken by the event and unsure of what substance was pumped into her, Emma calls the one person who can help her figure things out: Edward Banner of the security company Darkview. But Banner has his hands full with another emergency: Somali pirates in the Gulf of Aden have attacked a cruise ship, and Darkview has been hired to assist with the rescue. However, according to intelligence sources, the ship is carrying cargo far more valuable than wealthy passengers— something that could be a new weapon of unknown origin. Suspecting the weapon may be chemical in nature, Banner asks Emma to infiltrate the ship and use her professional expertise to identify it. Emma knows it's a risky job, one that she might not survive. But when she learns that special agent Cameron Sumner—a man who has saved her life in the past—is among the hostages, nothing will stop her from getting onboard, no matter what the cost.

I Remember You I've read all of Yrsa's "Thora" books and bought this one while in Reykjavik, excited to read another. I was certainly surprised to be scared out of my wits for 9 hours straight! This is no Thora mystery. I stayed awake during the entire flight reading because of the adrenalin flowing through my veins-freaky and great read that would also make an outstanding movie a la "Blair Witch."

ReVamped I enjoyed this book very much. The story picks up exactly were Staked left off. Eric, Marilyn and his strip club have been blown up by Roger. They both spend a bit of time wandering the Demon Heart reminiscing, until Marilyn's time approaches for her to move on. Unfortunately, her afterlife may not be as serine and quiet as one would hope. The background information is revealed on how Roger tortured Marilyn for more than 40 years. I totally loved the parts with Fang The Stang aka Eric's sidekick Zombie Mustang (no exaggeration, the car actually eats people). When Eric finally gets his body reformed, he crosses paths with a demon named J'iliol'lth. This is where the story heats up and moves quickly. He's force to strike a deal with the demon in order to save a loved one and also to be able to achieve true immortality. We also find out what Rachel is, what she's been up to and who she works for when Tabitha and Rachel cross paths again it is not pretty! Void City may be short one strip club but not to fret it's gaining a vampire bowling alley! There was quite a bit of twisted-humor, which I enjoyed very much.

Saltwater Witch Kassandra comes from the sea, but she has no memory of saltwater, seagulls, or an incoming tide. She's never seen an ocean, never heard the thunder of surf. She's an exile, betrayed by her own family, sent as far from the sea as they could arrange somewhere in the middle of Nebraska. Everything changes the day she drowns in Red Bear Lake, and discovers she can't really drown. Not in the way everyone else can. Then a two-thousand year old king wakes inside her head and turns out to be a prodigy with mathematics. Kassandra cries for the first time in her life, and learns that her tears are doorways for calling things from the sea. With clues from summoned sea-demons and the voices in her head, Kassandra sets out to find out what the hell is going on...and discovers she's a prisoner, trapped between a murderous grandfather who controls an army of the drowned dead, river witches who spy on her through the plumbing, and Ms. Matrothy, the Girl's Department Director, who's been trying to kill her since she was four.

Sick of Shadows: An Edwardian Murder Mystery Lady Rose and Captain Harry now endeavor to uncover the mystery behind Dolly's murder. As always, someone is trying to put an end to Lady Rose's sleuthing. Her long suffering companion, Daisy, is there alongside Lady Rose, often coming to her rescue at great peril to herself. Captain Harry can barely keep up with the antics of his fiancee, and keeping her safe seems to be something that he cannot seem to guarantee. With all that is going on, their romance certainly has its share of ups and downs. The perils of Pauline have nothing on what awaits Lady Rose, as she tries to show her beleaguered fiancee just how clever she can be. As with the other books in the series, the mystery is not what keeps one reading the book, as the plotting is a bit loose and a somewhat far-fetched. What keeps one reading are the farcical elements of the book, which are amusing. The characters are likable, and the interaction of the main characters with each other is the glue that binds the book together. I will add, however, that with this particular book, the editing was atrocious and actually hampered the enjoyment of the book somewhat, with numerous typos and dialogue credited to the wrong character, as another reviewer pointed out. Moreover, the author contradicted herself in terms of facts already established in the previous book. Still, that being said, if one can overlook those editing deficiencies, one will still enjoy the book.

Snobbery with Violence: An Edwardian Murder Mystery

The author did an admirable job of introduction the two main characters as well as several minor ones, the mysterious Becket, Harry's valet, Daisy, former vaudevillian and now Lady Rose's personal maid and confidante, and Lady Polly, Rose's mother. There were, of course, other minor characters, but these are the ones who will, presumably, return in other entries in this series. In addition, the author kept the story moving along by doling out clues without giving away the ending. All in all a satisfying cozy that has the promise of becoming a very good historical mystery series.

Staked The plot is fast-paced, too, especially for a not-quite-400-page book. Rather than focusing only on the mystery at the center of the story, Lewis brings in several plot threads and fleshes them out enough to keep them interesting. He wraps them up well, though he leaves a few cliffhangers at the end--which makes me really, really want to read the next book! He has a good grasp of dialogue, too the characters speak believably and have distinctive voices. The changing first-person perspective brings added depth to the story as a whole, and Lewis has a good sense of when to change narrators. Overall, this is one of the most entertaining and well-developed novels I've read in a good long while. Highly, highly recommended.

Strange Angels Strange Angels is a fresh take on a popular subject in YA literature, showcasing a heroine that is strong, gutsy, and fallible. Fans of the TV show Supernatural will be happy to dig into this Pandora's Box of creepy-crawlies, bloodsuckers, werwulfen, hexes, and many other assorted paranormal creatures and enchantments. Each supernatural creature possesses its own unique characteristics within the novel which makes Strange Angels stand apart from the mundane. St. Crow's writing is solid and wonderfully descriptive, and she skillfully balances out the novel with actionfilled scenes and memories from Dru's past, transforming her world into a tangible and comprehensive one. Though she has a tendency to repeat herself in suspenseful scenes, St. Crow does an admirable job creating and building fear and apprehension. Her characters are well-rounded, the setting vivid, and the action scenes suspenseful: the perfect makings for a stellar new series that will spellbind readers and leave them begging for more.

A Parent's Guide to Rheumatic Disease in Children English | 2008 | ISBN: 0195341899 | PDF | 304 pages | 3 MB For a child with arthritis or a related condition, lack of knowledge on the part of the parents is one of the biggest obstacles to recovery. Parents do not always know how to interpret the complaints voiced by their children and this is compounded by the inexperience of physicians, who rarely treat children with these ailments. In this marvelously down-to-earth guide, Dr. Thomas Lehman--the head of one of the leading pediatric rheumatology programs in the world--offers a gold mine of expert advice that is invaluable both for parents whose children have rheumatic disorders and for parents of children with complaints, discomfort, or disability who are not getting the answers they need from their physician. Using simple analogies and illustrative anecdotes to illuminate hard-to-grasp concepts, Dr. Lehman helps parents interpret their child's complaints and to determine whether medical attention is needed. Even more important, the book explains to parents how to follow through with a physician and make sure their child receives the appropriate tests, the proper diagnosis, and ultimately, the best care possible. The book explains to parents what symptoms to look for, what questions to ask, and what to expect when treatment begins. It

sheds light on a wide range of rheumatic disorders--including Juvenile Arthritis, Lyme Disease, Lupus, Kawasaki Disease, Fibromyalgia, and Chronic Fatigue Syndrome--and it addresses such crucial topics as drug safety, the potential risks to children posed by medications, health insurance problems, the difficulty of family life when a child has a chronic disease, and much more. The only book on this subject currently available, A Parent's Guide to Rheumatic Diseases in Children captures the expertise of a dedicated physician with over thirty years of hands-on experience helping children lead normal happy lives. It will help you to ensure that your child achieves the best possible outcome.

Joy's Life Diet: Four Steps to Thin Forever

English | 2008 | ISBN: 0061731285 | 3 hrs 25 mins | 139 Mb The Today Show's nutrition and health expert, Bauer offers an upbeat, workable and still palatable weight-loss system designed for long-term healthy living. She asserts that starting her four-step program (Release, Relearn, Reshape, Reveal) is not an act of defeat for the severely overweight but a determination to change one's life, even in small increments over several years, as the 20 profiles of success stories scattered throughout her work attest, many of whom have lost well over 100 pounds. The first week requires the most stringent rules (no sugar, salt, alcohol or starch), somewhat relaxed over the next weeks, and there is an extensive Allowed at Meals food list, though you are encouraged to swap dishes among categories in her menus and indulge in snacking from her Unlimited Foods list whenever you want ( i.e., all the nonstarchy vegetables you care to eat). Some key points include eliminating from sight trigger foods, using healthy (not toxic) fats and seasonings, consuming three meals and an afternoon snack every day, and drinking two glasses of water 30 minutes before lunch and dinner. There are numerous recipes for each section, while one chapter (Recreation) addresses an exercise program; however, the profiles really bring home the key link between losing weight and a liberating mobility. The recipes attempt to keep a nice balance between flavor and calories, and Bauer's tone is even and encouraging.

Peace Like a River (Audiobook) English | 2008 | ISBN: 0061457876 | ASIN: B000R34YNO | 11 hours and 35 minutes | MP3 | 637 MB Born with no air in his lungs, it was only when Reuben Land's father, Jeremiah, picked him up and commanded him to breathe that Reuben's lungs filled. Reuben struggles with debilitating asthma from then on, making him a boy who knows firsthand that life is a gift, and also one who suspects that his father is touched by God and can overturn the laws of nature. The quiet 1960s midwestern life of the Lands is upended when Reuben's brother, Davy, kills two marauders who have come to harm the family. The morning of his sentencing, Davy (a hero to some, a cold-blooded murderer to others) escapes from his cell, and the Lands set out in search of him. Their journey is touched by serendipity and the kindness of strangers, and they cover territory even more extraordinary than the Badlands, where they search for Davy from their Airstream trailer. Sprinkled with playful nods to Biblical tales, beloved classics such as Huckleberry Finn,, the adventure stories of Robert Louis Stevenson, and the westerns of Zane Grey, Peace Like A River is at once a heroic quest, a tragedy, a love story, and a haunting meditation on the possibility of magic in the everyday world.

Riverworld (Books 1-5) (Audiobook) English | 2010 | ISBN: 0765326523 | MP3 | 2,63 GB 01 - To Your Scattered Bodies Go (1971) 02 - The Fabulous Riverboat (1971) 03 - The Dark Design (1977) 04 - The Magic Labyrinth (1980) 05 - Gods of Riverworld (1983) Series Description: Located at an indeterminate distance from the Sol system and millennia in the future, the Riverworld is an Earthlike planet whose surface has been terraformed to consist solely of one staggeringly long river-valley. The river's source is a small North Polar sea, from which it follows a course tightly zig-zagging across one hemisphere before flowing back up the other along an equally labyrinthine path to return to the same sea. The river has an average depth of 1.5 miles, and is shallow near the shore but plunges to enormous depths towards the channel. The banks are generally smooth and gentle, expanding into wide plains on either side, then climbing into ever more jagged hills before leaping up into a sheerly impenetrable enclosing mountainous ridge, taller than the Himalayas. The valley averages 9 miles in width, but variations on the basic geography exist, including narrows and occasional widenings into lakes with islands. From source to mouth, the river is 20 million miles long (Books I, II, & III state the river is 10 million miles long). The weather is absolutely controlled; there are no seasons, and daily variations are metronomic. The only animal life consists of fish and soil worms. The vegetation is lush and of great variety, including trees, flowering vines, several kinds of fast-growing bamboo and a resilient mat of grass which covers the plains and continues on along the riverbed for as far down as anyone has ever been able to reach. The Riverworld has no visible moon, but a great number of stellar objects in the sky, including gas sheets and stars which are close enough to see a visible disk. These objects provide enough light for "valleydwellers" to see at night and have led to speculation, by valleydwellers and fans, that the Riverworld is located in the galactic core. The story of Riverworld begins when almost the whole of humanity, from the time of the first homo sapiens through to the early 21st century, is simultaneously resurrected along the banks of the river. The number of people is given as "thirty-six billion, six million, nine thousand, six hundred and thirty-seven" (36,006,009,637). Of these, at least 20% are from the 20th century, due to the high levels of population in later centuries compared to earlier ones. There is also a cut-off point, as no one from the 21st century or later is resurrected. Originally the specific cut-off year was given as 1983 (which was still a speculative date when the novels were first published) but this was later updated to 2008. The ostensible reason for the cut-off was that it indicated the point at which most of the human race had been purposefully annihilated during a catastrophic first contact with aliens visiting Earth. The protagonists later find out this is a creative fiction, produced by the masterminds behind the resurrection, so the spies among the resurrectees could identify each other.

In each area, there are initially three groups of people: a large group from one time period and place, a smaller group from another time and place, and a very small group of people from random times and places (most of the 20th and 21st century humans are spread across the river as part of this last group). Sir Richard Francis Burton would be the first to glimpse the incredible way-station, a link between worlds. This forbidden sight would spur the renowned 19th-century explorer to uncover the truth. Along with a remarkable group of compatriots, including Alice Liddell Hargreaves (the Victorian girl who was the inspiration for Alice in Wonderland), an English-speaking Neanderthal, a WWII Holocaust survivor, and a wise extraterrestrial, Burton sets sail on the magnificent river. His mission: to confront humankind's mysterious benefactors, and learn the true purpose--innocent or evil--of the Riverworld . . .

A Dangerous Inheritance (Audiobook) English | 2012 | ISBN: 1471203069 | MP3 | 708 MB Weaving together a dark mystery of thwarted love and ruthless ambition, acclaimed historian Alison Weir has written the most suspenseful, large-scale novel of her career. The year is 1562. Lady Catherine Grey, cousin of Elizabeth I, has just been arrested along with her husband Edward. Their crime is to have secretly married and produced a child who might threaten the Queen's title. Alone in her chamber at the Tower of London, Catherine hears ghostly voices; echoes, she thinks, of a crime committed in the same room where she is imprisoned - This recording is unabridged. Typically abridged audiobooks are not more than 60% of the author's work and as low as 30% with characters and plotlines removed.

Thriller: Stories To Keep You Up All Night - James Patterson (editor) (Audiobook) English | ASIN: B001ATDBT2 | 2006 | 496 Mb The blurry line between mysteries and thrillers gets even fuzzier in this outstanding anthology of 32 new stories by such top genre names as Lee Child, James Grippando, Denise Hamilton and David Morrell. Patterson, in his introduction, talks about the "intensity of emotions" that thrillers share—as well as "the force with which they hurtle the reader along." This description fits such fine efforts as Gayle Lynds's "The Hunt for Dmitri," which takes the heroine of

The Coil, Liz Sansborough, into an adventure involving her father, the infamous CIA assassin known as the Carnivore. But other extremely readable stories, like Alex Kava's "Goodnight, Sweet Mother," would qualify as straight mystery. Readers who favor one category or another may at first be a bit baffled, but lovers of crime fiction in general and welltold action tales in particular will be well rewarded. Would-be thriller writers can learn a lot about research and technique from Patterson's introductions to each story. Many of the contributors will be attending the first International Thriller Writers convention in Phoenix in June.

Cathe Friedrich - Low Impact Series - Total Body TriSets (2011) DVDRip | AVI / DivX 1200 Kbps | 712х400 | 29.97 fps | MP3 128 kbps | 982 MB Language: English | Run Time: 100 min Separate lower and upper-body workouts that both use "trisets" — a proven technique that works each body part with a progression of three distinct exercises (e.g. legs: wall squats, front lunges and side squats). The upper-body program even adds a unique variation. It sequentially targets three related muscle groups (e.g. one exercise each for chest, shoulders and triceps). Cathe also boosts the challenge — and effectiveness — by repeating each threeexercise series at a higher intensity level (e.g. using heavier weights). Note: While the workouts are body-parttargeted, the DVD's extensive premix selection includes lots of pre-programmed, upper/lower options. Requires 3 to 15 lb. dumbbells, a stability ball and a high step (a regular step will work).

The toning segment uses the discs to boost resistance and increase range of motion (e.g. a "walking push-up" where you're moving the discs as you're raising your body). The fast-paced cardio moves are surprisingly diverse. They range from simple slides and lunges to burpees and mountain climbers. The body-sculpting exercises are also varied. They include planks, cross-overs and seated oblique work (that often incorporate a core-strengthening or balance element). Requires a loop-style band and gliding discs (paper plates will work).

Cathe Friedrich - Low Impact Series - Low Impact Challenge (2011) DVDRip | AVI / DivX 1200 Kbps | 712х400 | 29.97 fps | MP3 128 kbps | 722 MB Language: English | Run Time: 75 min A fast-paced program that smoothly intermixes step and off-step movements (e.g. four counts on and four counts off the bench). From the warm-up to the stretch, Cathe keeps you moving, having fun ... and burning fat. You get four diverse combinations. The first three are jam-packed with basic step movements; the fourth section features slightly more choreographed patterns. They're all quick-moving but easy to follow because Cathe cues ahead and always tells you what to do (“remember, it's the outside leg that starts”). She finishes with an intense blast that is all athletic — lots of kicks, repeater and squats-off-the-board. DVD also includes a "bonus" step-aerobics/dumbbell-toning interval segment (21 minutes). Requires a step.

Cathe Friedrich - Low Impact Series - Cardio Supersets (2011) DVDRip | AVI / DivX 1200 Kbps | 712х400 | 29.97 fps | MP3 128 kbps | 622 MB Language: English | Run Time: 65 min A totally low-impact program that uses gliding discs and dumbbells to supercharge the aerobic intensity. It's short but tough — Cathe's non-stop, never-slow-down pacing is guaranteed to keep you burning fat for the entire workout. You get eight complete "cardio supersets." Each superset has two different exercises — an all-cardio series alternated with a cardio/toning sequence (e.g. pure aerobic gliding combined with a "traveling plank with push-ups" aero/tone interval). All the moves are easy on your joints; they range from kickboxing and cross-country skiing to "prisoner

squats" and leg abductions (using the discs for sliding resistance). Requires 2 to 10 lb. dumbbells and gliding discs (paper plates will work).

A.S.A.P. Fitness: Fitness Band Camp

AVI,DivX 5, 672 x 384, 16/9, 1 488 Kbps, 29.970 fps, 0.184 b/px | 2009 | 47:00 | AC3, 192 Kbps, CBR, 48.0 KHz, 2 ch | English | 587 MB eLearning A solid program that uses rubber tubing or a resistance band in every one of its carefully sequenced exercises. For maximum effectiveness, similar moves are always linked together (so you spend your time working out, not repositioning the band). The tubing is perfect for upper-body classics like bicep curls and overhead presses. Its also ideal for balance and corework movements like "wood chops" and "baseball swings". The resistance band is lower-body focused looped around your ankles for side steps or tick-tocs (but, some exercises use both bands at once). Pauls cuing is ultra-clear; youll always know where and how to place the band. Requires a rubber exercise tubing and a resistance band (ideally, loop style). Š2009. Level: Intermediate/Advanced. Length: 47 minutes. This is a surprisingly well-organized workout with excellent transitions. The instructor, Paul Katami, for me is one of the most likeable (next to Michael Carson) male DVD instructors. His diction is clear and evenly paced, he cues superbly with easy instructions and consistently and safely describes how to hold and use the tubing and a loop. This 45 minute workout does not have chapters or options, so be prepared to commit time for the entire workout. You'll perform 2 rounds of each section, like a circuit. FIRST section of exercises utilizes the tubing concentrating on the upper body. You'll start with a slow tempo first in the first round to familiarize the move. There is a modifier for the entire workout and challenge moves. SECOND section uses the loop around feet focusing on the lower body with moves such as the side step, staggered step, knee lifts, knee extensions, skater extension. You'll individually work each leg. THIRD section has combinations of tubing (upper body) & loop (feet). In my favorite section, you'll work balance & stability by doing bicep curls simultaneously with a hamstring extension; a shoulder lift with a leg extension, among others, plus pulses for challenge. Complete the other side or leg for another round. THE FOURTH section is functional training, mostly the upper body with lat pulls & lateral step, golf swing, overhead extension, chest left and cross lift. LASTLY, lying on a mat, finish the workout with seated rows, basic crunch (loop your ankles)oblique crunch, side planks, and my personal favs: long lever crunch and long lever diagonal crunch with tubing on hand and opposite foot. Love it!

Ballerina: Sex, Scandal, and Suffering Behind the Symbol of Perfection 2012 | 272 Pages | ISBN: 1926812662 | EPUB | 5 MB Throughout her history, the ballerina has been perceived as the embodiment of beauty and perfection— the feminine ideal. But the reality is another story. From the earliest ballerinas in the 17th century, who often led double lives as concubines, through the poverty of the corps de ballet dancers in the 1800’s and the anorexic and bulimic ballerinas of George Balanchine, starvation and exploitation have plagued ballerinas throughout history. Using the stories of great dancers such as Anna Pavlova, Isadora Duncan, Suzanne Farrell, Gelsey Kirkland, and Evelyn Hart, Deirdre Kelly exposes the true rigors for women in ballet. She rounds her critique with examples of how the world of ballet is slowly evolving for the better. But to ensure that this most graceful of dance forms survives into the future, she says that the time has come to rethink ballet, to position the ballerina at its center and accord her the respect she deserves.

Idolized: Music, Media, and Identity in American Idol 2011 | 320 Pages | ISBN: 0253222710 , 0253355710 | PDF | 3 MB The hit television program American Idol provides a stage where the politics of national, regional, ethnic, and religious identity are performed for millions of viewers. Diversity is carefully highlighted and coached into a viable commodity by judges, argues Katherine Meizel, with contestants packaged into familiar portraits of American identities. Consumer choice, as expressed by audience voting, also shapes the course of the show窶馬egotiating ideas of democracy and opportunity closely associated with the American Dream. Through interviews with audience members and participants, and careful analyses of television broadcasts, commercial recordings, and print and online media, Meizel demonstrates that commercial music and the music industry are not simply forces to be criticized or resisted, but critical sites for redefining American culture.
