Cold Blood: Book 2 in the Dirty Blood series I remember that I loved Wes from book 1 but in book 2, I am like Wes who? I am totally in love with Alex! I love him. And I think he is great for Tara. He treats her like an equal when Wes sends her a babysitter to watch her every move. Alex is just great and I really loved every time him and Tara where together. You will just have to see it for yourself. I totally think you should read book 1 first. That way you have the whole story or you might be a little confused. Both of these books were great and I really enjoyed them. I am super excited for book 3. This leaves you off on a cliffhanger and I really want to know what is going to happen. Something is obviously changing in Tara, what will happen to George and will Tara choose to try it out with Alex (please say yes!) Great book!!!!
East This is a retelling of East of the Sun and West of the Moon. To readers unfamiliar with the Norwegian fairy tale, think of "Beauty and the Beast" with an extra adventure tacked on to the end. (The main character is even named Rose.)
Exhale: A Just Breathe Novel Wow!! Okay, where to start. This is seriously a super hard review to write because I totally freaking loved this book and don't even know what to say to express how amazing I think it is. I have started this review numerous times and ended up deleting it over and over. This book picks up right where Inhale ended and it couldn't have been a more perfect start. The whole feel of this one is totally different than Inhale, but in a great way. There is a lot more emotion, more tension, and a lot of OMG moments!! I kid you not. This book is made of awesome!!
For His Desire (Full Trilogy) Elena hadn’t quite been sure what to expect, but the obscenely lavish house spread out before her was beyond what she had imagined. “It’s beautiful,” she said, feeling even as she said it that ‘beautiful’ was much too weak a word to describe the opulence that surrounded them.

Heartbreak Ranch Over a century has passed since Bella Duprey, famed Barbary Coast madam, won the treasured range in a card game from the lover who jilted her. She left it to her descendants, along with her how-to tome of feminine wisdom: The Art of Fascinating a Man.
Heiress I love reading stories set during the Gilded Age, and have read a good number of them to date. This novel tops them all as my absolute favorite. In fact, in my opinion this is Susan May Warren's best book ever! I've read ten of her books and have ten more (at least) that I own or have started. Her historical fiction is far superior in quality because it's full of deep, heart-felt insight on a level that her contemporary novels don't quite touch. I used to think Sons of Thunder was her best book because it was so intense and fabulous, but this novel even tops that one.
House of Evidence Jacob Kieler Junior has been found shot in the same parlor as his father was shot in, and the detective and forensic teams uncover additional similarities that should cause Matthias, one of the only remaining male Kielers, great concern. Will his slowly revealed suffering save him from becoming yet another Kieler fatality?
Ice Forged (The Ascendant Kingdoms Saga) Ice Forged hits the ground running, with Blaine jumping right to the patricide and getting shipped off to Velant in no time flat. Even Blaine's time in the prison mines is cut short. In the flip of a page, six years pass and Blaine, who now goes by "Mick", has earned the right to live as a colonist of Edgeland rather than an inmate of Velant. The lifestyle is still harsh but McFadden is a relatively free man, bunking with fellow colonists and trying to irk out an existence. The world building is minimal and mostly organic.
Just Breathe The world building in the series was fascinating and kept my attention through the entire series. That's not an easy feat for a writer, but Grey managed it flawlessly.

Letting Go (Just Breathe Ephemera) Letting Go by Kendall Grey is a short story from the Just Breathe Trilogy Letting Go touches on Zoe and her mother when she was 12. This was a fantastic short that really allows you to view deeper into Zoe's history and some of the fundamentals of a turning point in her life. Letting Go was a magically written and emotionally driven piece of work.
Lily White Lies Though the story is labeled romance, and boy are the romantic elements done very well, it is also about what lengths a person would go to for the love of their family and the slow untangling of years worth of lies and deception. The characters in this novel are amazingly well done. Each are vivid and unique with a voice and personality of their own. And though you root for the main character and hope she finds her prince and happily ever after, it is the secondary characters that you will be most drawn to and fall in love with. You can't help it. Even the most rotten of the bunch will capture a place in your heart.
Marcelo In The Real World MARCELO IN THE REAL WORLD is quite simply one of the most beautiful and moving stories that I have ever read. By author Francisco X. Stork, this lovely, thoughtful book tells the very special story of Marcelo, a seventeen year-old boy with a high-functioning autism spectrum disorder. Told from Marcelo's point of view, the reader is transported into a very unique way of thinking, bringing Marcelo's world alive with amazing clarity and detail.
Rest for the Wicked - The Claire Wiche Chronicles Book 1 I have to say I love Cate Dean. Her books are fresh, unexpected, and unique. Rest For The Wicked - The Claire Wiche Chronicles Book 1 is an individual take on the traditional witch fantasy tale. Cate takes the fantasy tale of witches and throws in a little Jinn (male genie) and some demons for good measure. I was kept guessing right to the very end.
Robert B. Parker's Ironhorse I love the characters created by Robert Parker in this series. I was worried about someone continuing the series after his passing. No worries. This a great read. It is well written. As with most books, I downloaded it from audible.com and, for me, this is always the best way to enjoy a book.

Stifle (Just Breathe Ephemera) Stifle delivers. This story is, without a doubt, one of the best erotic stories I've ever read. The author has a talent for writing stories that embrace the reader, pulling us into the scene. The Sinnder-centered point of view was a brilliant move. Scenarios that wouldn't ring true for two of the characters made absolute sense when portrayed as a fantasy.
The 13th Sign This book was a pleasant surprise for me because I do not normally read books meant for younger audiences. I expected a much darker novel and almost felt duped by the cover when I first started reading. Despite my initial doubts, I enjoyed learning about the zodiac as I read.
The Beresfords I am such a fan of this multi-faceted writer! Loved Mourning Becomes Cassandra, as well as her other fun reads, but I am even more pleased with this latest effort! The Beresfords drew me in with it's likeable and not-so-likeable characters, and the entirely believable setting of the mid-1980's. With Dudley's vivid descriptions, it was easy to find myself poolside in 1985.
The Broken Pieces Dalglish continues his wonderful Palladin epic in this book, and unlike many authors he does not skimp on the care he devotes to each character. In fact, in some cases the character development was even better. I was tiring of Valessa and her mindless bent on revenge-for-no-reason, but in this book she actually develops some sympathetic qualities.
The Far Side of the Sky Thoroughly enjoyed this book. This is a fascinating story of what happens when circumstances force people into places and situations they would not normally find themselves in.

The Girl Who Would Be King Once I started reading, I couldn't put it down. I will admit, it took me a bit to get into the story. The introductions to Bonnie and Lola got a little confusing, but that confusion quickly passed. I loved the clear graphical switch between the two characters so I knew who I was reading.
The Immortal Scrolls I am so impressed by the originality of this paranormal romance. I read a lot, and I haven't read any vampire/werewolf novel like this before. I read a lot of contemporary paranormal romance book, but it was interesting to read one set in ancient Roman times.
The Lighthouse Road But it's the story, which is ultimately about survivors. People who make it. Though there is a life-threatening bear attack, I'm talking about other kinds of survival: enduring, persevering, and overcoming personal and historical legacies, the human-centric kind--crossing oceans in search of a new life, getting nursed by quacks or fleeing brothels, suffering from the weight of your lineage or lack of one. Some people go on others do not. Some people live well others flounder in their past. I found this book rich in such musings.
The Truth of All Things This novel takes place in Portland, Maine in 1892, Pearl's mystery occurs in 1868 in Boston. Perceval Grey uses modern investigatory methods and possesses a unique understanding of people and possible motives. This is similiar to Marcus Mansfield in Pearl's novel. Mansfield is about to graduate from Massachusetts Institute of Technology and is scientific in his work.
Trust No One (The 39 Clues: Cahills vs. Vespers, Book 5) When seven members of their family were kidnapped, thirteen-year-old Dan Cahill and his older sister, Amy, got ready for the fight of their lives. But their enemy, a terrifying group known as the Vespers, remained frustratingly elusive. They stay in the shadows, picking off Cahills one by one.

172 Hours on the Moon I loved how the author slowly introduced each of the teens and their perspectives over the beginning third of the novel...and then built up to the take off in the middle of the book. At times it may have seemed a bit slow paced while I was reading it, but in retrospect Johan Harstad did an excellent job of building up to the actual space flight and time on the moon. I think it was that build up and anticipation which made the latter part of the book so thrilling.
A Hint of Frost (Araneae Nation) Every once in a while, I stumble across a book that actually treads new ground one that is fresh without being weird one I find myself excited to tell everybody about. This is one of those books.
A Memory of Light (Wheel of Time) Most of this book involves battles. Tarmon Gai'don is the Last Battle, and the stakes are truly desperate. The book does a great job of conveying the scale of this conflict, even though it's exhausting to read about. Any less, and it would've been too easy to win. The usual "no one dies" approach that the rest of the books have does not apply. Some very bad things happen to very good people, and death seems better than some of them. Our heroes are outnumbered and outmaneuvered, and it shows. Even at the end, you're not left feeling like it's been a great victory you're horrified. There's still hope, though, and that's what matters.
A Vampire in Fairyland A deadly Chameleon terrorizes the city. Capable of not only blending into its surroundings, it becomes its surroundings. The Chameleon has noticed Jade, and it wants a taste of her. As if things aren’t bad enough, Jade Carver’s love life is about to get a whole lot worse. Jade soon discovers the man she falls in love with, Dark Elf assassin, Aeron Blake, has been sent to kill her.
Beneath the Surface (An Emperor's Edge Novella) While we still have Amaranthe's counterpoint, the main focus is on Evrial Yara, a new and uncertain addition to the group. Uncertain because she doesn't know where her loyalties lie, and getting inside her head was a real treat. She has an outsider's perspective on the group, which we haven't actually seen before, and her reactions to their interactions can be priceless. After her experience with them on the train and battling with Forge, Yara still has to make up her mind about whether she will stay with the team. Will she support Sespian, or go back to her life as an enforcer? Now that she's been seen with them, does she even have the choice?

Cataylst Holly became one of my favorite authors after reading the Demon Kissed series. It was awesome and I didn't think she could top my love for that series. I was so wrong! The Bane series is non-stop, action packed, chocolate addiction kind of fun. So many authors are writing the same old vampire love triangle stories. Bane are not your typical vampires. Khali is a heroine that you can rally for because she is strong and independent. I can't wait for the third book to come out! Hurry up Holly, I'm chewing my hands off waiting!
Cities of Refuge In this time of anxiety about immigration, Helm faces the question head on. If your city has become what the Bible called one of the "cities of refuge," what does that mean for your day-to-day interactions? Where are our responsibilities? What are the limits to our seeking for justice? What consolations can we find for pain and loss? This is a beautifully written and thoughtful novel that deals with these question at a personal level and a parable for our times.
Cold Hands Donnie Miller leads an unassuming life in a remote area of Canada in an absolutely beautiful house, with his upwardly mobile and loaded wife, his young son and whiles away his time as a film reviewer for the local newspaper, fortuitously part of the empire of his father-in -law. The only signs of strain in Donnie's life is fitting into the influential circles his wife moves in but this is a minor problem as Donnie's past will come back to haunt him with devastating consequences for himself and his family.
Curious Folks Ask: 162 Real Answers on Amazing Inventions, Fascinating Products, and Medical Mysteries Can you define geophagy? What about zoopharmacognosy? I couldn't either until reading "Curious Folks Ask." Now I know why my dog sometimes eats dirt and that animals occasionally eat things for pharmacological reasons that are not normally part of their diets. "Curious Folks Ask" is the book to read by the incurably curious, the hopelessly nescient, and even the pseudoomniscient in need of humility and reality. The entire book is a collection of questions and answers organized into 8 categories: ingenious inventions, chemical concoctions, body parts, bodily functions, pesky pathogens, assorted ailments, uniquely human, and health nuts. This reader likes Seethaler's book quite a bit. It's a book that one can read in a few sittings or read sporadically during the day to turn empty minutes into mini science lessons. If one has no interest in a question topic or finds it too difficult, one can skip and move on to the next one. I surprised myself by skipping very few questions, and even gave a cursory read to the "skipped" ones. Some of Seethaler's answers seem to have been written by a politician. She begins on topic and somehow she disarmingly ends up on a somewhat related but different topic. Her book is so fascinating, however, that these few transgressions are easy to forgive. In a nut shell, I enjoyed this book, learned from it, and would recommend it.
Ambushed Ambushed by Rebecca York grabs you from the very beginning and doesn't let up. It is terse, engaging and I genuinely liked Jordan and Elizabeth, especially the way in which they reacted to each other. The sexual tension is high, the attempt to escape the bad guys gripping. Short stories can be a bear to get everything right, but Rebecca York has done it. I can't wait to read the rest of the series.

Backstreet Child A warm and authentic story of Cockney life during the Second World War Salmon Lane is a quiet Bermondsey backstreet lined with modest brick houses and paved with cobbles. This close-knit community is forced to draw on all their reserves of courage and humour to survive the difficulties of poverty, rationing and nightly air raids. And even as the men are called up, go missing in action or are killed, and homes are bombed, their extraordinary Cockney spirit shines through...
Beckon Tom Pawlik has really done a fabulous job on this story plot. A few times the writing felt more like `telling' then `showing', but with all that action and suspense I barely noticed it. I will be honest and say I had my doubts about Beckon. I'd never read anything by Pawlik before and wasn't sure I would enjoy it. Boy, was I wrong! While Beckon does require you to stretch your imagination a little, I don't think it is totally far-fetched. I mean, aren't scientists discovering knew animals/species still today?? So, as I said, it's not a very big stretch. Reminded me a bit of Ted Dekker and Frank Peretti's books. I will certainly be keeping my eye out for more books by Pawlik in the future. This author has my attention!
Between the Lines
As I long-time fan of Jodi Picoult, I've been watching her career very closely. It's been interesting to watch her change over time, to see her plots evolve and her create a unique formula all her own (something of a female-focused legal plot packed with deep family conflicts and laced with commentary on modern issues and literary elements) and then watch her deviate from that. I was particularly intrigued when Picoult announced that she was working on a YA/MG novel with her daughter. I wasn't sure what to think -could it be really good, or would Picoult be able to translate into the YA world? Between the Lines is a unique take on the concept of happily ever after. In this world, fairy tales are more than what they seem. Young Delilah is something of a loner, who would rather stick her nose in a book than in anyone else's business. One day she comes across a strange book called Between the Lines, a seemingly stereotypical fairy tale that holds a strange secret of its own. The characters are real people, and when prince charming himself starts speaking to Delilah, she finds that's he's anything but the traditional fairy tale prince. He yearns for more -he yearns for freedom and real love. And it's up to Delilah to free him.
Black Skies A man is making a crude leather mask with slits for eyes and mouth, and an iron spike fixed in the middle of the forehead. It is a 'death mask', once used by Icelandic farmers to slaughter calves. He has revenge in mind. Meanwhile, with Detective Erlendur absent, his baseball-loving colleague Sigurdur Oli is in the spotlight. A school reunion has left Sigurdur Oli dissatisfied with life in the police force. Iceland is enjoying an economic boom and young tycoons are busy partying with the international jet set. In contrast, Sigurdur Oli's relationship is on the rocks and soon even his position in the CID is compromised: when he agrees to visit a couple of blackmailers as a favour to a friend he walks in just as a woman is beaten unconscious. When she dies, Sigurdur Oli has a murder investigation on his hands. The evidence leads to debt collectors, extortionists, swinging parties. But when a chance link connects these enquiries to the activities of a group of young bankers, Sigurdur Oli finds himself investigating the very elite he had envied. Moving from the villas of Reykjavik's banking elite to a sordid basement flat, Black Skies is a superb story of greed, pride and murder from one of Europe's most successful crime writers.

Blood Money The characters were believable and it was obvious the author had done a lot of research into government agencies in order to make the plot pliable. I loved everything about the book. The plot was so well written that it left you believing one side of the story and then the other side. I went back and forth until the plot opened up and revealed itself and what a surprise.
Pests: A Guide to the World's Most Maligned, Yet Misunderstood Creatures Published: 2011-03-03 | ISBN: 0313384266 | PDF | 282 pages | 3 MB From mosquitoes to nematodes to mice, there are a multitude of organisms and animals that pose major health risks, cause economic burdens, and even threaten famine conditions for human civilization. Addressing these problems is often extremely costly and only partially effective. Pests: A Guide to the World's Most Maligned, Yet Misunderstood CreatureS≪/i> presents an overview of the animals that have the greatest impact on our lives, from the creatures that eat our crops through the ones that invade our homes and those that transmit diseases. Each entry provides a brief history of our interactions with the specific pest, methods of management or eradication for the pest being discussed, and an extensive Further Reading list that includes resources on both the biology of the pest and methods of control. The author explains the complexity of the worldwide pest problem and demonstrates how some of these issues are a result of human over-population and shortsightedness, inviting readers to consider our place in nature and how other animals have adapted to and benefited from the growing human population.
Fit to Fight: An Insanely Effective Strength and Conditioning Program forthe Ultimate MMA Warrior Published: 2008-04-10 | ISBN: 1583333045 | PDF | 224 pages | 7 MB The ultimate strength and conditioning book for ultimate fighters. Mixed martial arts (MMA) is America's fastest-growing combat sport, with millions signing up for MMA classes and many more tuning in to "pay-per-view" to watch events with names like "Cage Rage" and "No Limit." MMA is not for wimps, and participants take a real pounding-they must be ready for anything. However, there is one way to predict a winner in any bout: conditioning. When facing an opponent with equal technical skill, the better-conditioned athlete will win-every match, every round, every time. Now, with amateur fight leagues springing up across the country, top conditioning coach Jason Ferruggia reveals the ultimate conditioning program for the ultimate fighter. By gaining overall strength, stamina, speed, and flexibility, athletes can substantially reduce their risk of injury in this intense contact sport. The key to Ferruggia's system is his emphasis on matspecific conditioning techniques. Too many would-be fighters use training programs borrowed from football or bodybuilding-methods that are all wrong for MMA. Included are: - A first-rate warm-up guaranteed to make a fighter more explosive and to reduce injuries - Off-the-charts strength-building secrets - Dozens of exercises to develop crushing grip strength - Top speed-building methods, including Olympic lifts, plyometrics, and throws - Incredibly effective exercises for building a thick, powerful neck that could be the difference between victory and serious injury Each exercise is accompanied by black-and-white photos illustrating proper technique and form, and "Inside the Cage" tips share the secrets to success from top professional fighters.

The Land Grabbers: The New Fight over Who Owns the Earth 2012 | ISBN-10: 0807003247 | EPUB | 336 pages | 0,8 MB How Wall Street, Chinese billionaires, oil sheiks, and agribusiness are buying up huge tracts of land in a hungry, crowded world. An unprecedented land grab is taking place around the world. Fearing future food shortages or eager to profit from them, the world’s wealthiest and most acquisitive countries, corporations, and individuals have been buying and leasing vast tracts of land around the world. The scale is astounding: parcels the size of small countries are being gobbled up across the plains of Africa, the paddy fields of Southeast Asia, the jungles of South America, and the prairies of Eastern Europe. Veteran science writer Fred Pearce spent a year circling the globe to find out who was doing the buying, whose land was being taken over, and what the effect of these massive land deals seems to be. The Land Grabbers is a first-of-its-kind exposé that reveals the scale and the human costs of the land grab, one of the most profound ethical, environmental, and economic issues facing the globalized world in the twenty-first century. The corporations, speculators, and governments scooping up land cheap in the developing world claim that industrial-scale farming will help local economies. But Pearce’s research reveals a far more troubling reality. While some mega-farms are ethically run, all too often poor farmers and cattle herders are evicted from ancestral lands or cut off from water sources. The good jobs promised by foreign capitalists and home governments alike fail to materialize. Hungry nations are being forced to export their food to the wealthy, and corporate potentates run fiefdoms oblivious to the country beyond their fences. Pearce’s story is populated with larger-than-life characters, from financier George Soros and industry tycoon Richard Branson, to Gulf state sheikhs, Russian oligarchs, British barons, and Burmese generals. We discover why Goldman Sachs is buying up the Chinese poultry industry, what Lord Rothschild and a legendary 1970s asset-stripper are doing in the backwoods of Brazil, and what plans a Saudi oil billionaire has for Ethiopia. Along the way, Pearce introduces us to the people who actually live on, and live off of, the supposedly “empty” land that is being grabbed, from Cambodian peasants, victimized first by the Khmer Rouge and now by crony capitalism, to African pastoralists confined to ever-smaller tracts. Over the next few decades, land grabbing may matter more, to more of the planet’s people, than even climate change. It will affect who eats and who does not, who gets richer and who gets poorer, and whether agrarian societies can exist outside corporate control. It is the new battle over who owns the planet.

Agent Zigzag: The True Wartime Story of Eddie Chapman: Lover, Traitor, Hero, Spy 2007 | ISBN-10: 0747592837, 0747587949 | EPUB | 384 pages | 1 MB Eddie Chapman was a charming criminal, a con man, and a philanderer. He was also one of the most remarkable double agents Britain has ever produced. Inside the traitor was a man of loyalty; inside the villain was a hero. The problem for Chapman, his spymasters, and his lovers was to know where one persona ended and the other began. When MÖtley CrÜe was at the height of its fame, there wasn't any drug Nikki Sixx wouldn't do. He spent days -sometimes alone, sometimes with other addicts, friends, and lovers -- in a coke and heroin-fueled daze. The highs were high, and Nikki's journal entries reveal some euphoria and joy. But the lows were lower, often ending with Nikki in his closet, surrounded by drug paraphernalia and wrapped in paranoid delusions. Here, Nikki shares those diary entries -- some poetic, some scatterbrained, some bizarre -- and reflects on that time. Joining him are Tommy Lee, Vince Neil, Mick Mars, Slash, Rick Nielsen, Bob Rock, and a host of ex-managers, exlovers, and more. Brutally honest, utterly riveting, and shockingly moving, The Heroin Diaries follows Nikki during the year he plunged to rock bottom -- and his courageous decision to pick himself up and start living again.

Sleepwalk with Me: and Other Painfully True Stories English | 2010-10-12 | ISBN: 1439157995 | 208 pages | EPUB + MOBI | 4.75 mb Hello, I am Mike Birbiglia and I want you to read my book. Too on the nose? Sorry. Let me dial it back. I’m Mike Birbiglia and I’m a comedian. You may know me from Comedy Central or This American Life or The Bob & Tom Show, but you’ve never seen me like this before. Naked. Wait, that’s the name of another book. Also I’m not naked as there are no pictures in my book. Also, if there were naked pictures of me, you definitely wouldn’t buy it, though you might sneak a copy into the back corner of the bookstore and show it to your friend and laugh. Okay, let’s get off the naked stuff. This is my first book. It’s difficult to describe. It’s a comedic memoir, but I’m only 32 years old so I’d hate for you to think I’m “wrapping it up,” so to speak. But I tell some personal stories. Some REALLY personal stories. Stories that I considered not publishing time and time again, especially when my father said, “Michael, you might want to stay away from the personal stuff.” I said, “Dad, just read the dedication.” (Which I’m telling you to do too.) Some of the stories are about my childhood, some are about girls I made out with when I was thirteen, some are about my parents, and some are, of course, about my bouts with sleepwalking. Bring this book to bed. And sleepwalk with me.

Bright Boulevards, Bold Dreams: The Story of Black Hollywood English | 2006-01-31 | ISBN: 0345454197 | 432 pages | EPUB | 11.35 mb In Bright Boulevards, Bold Dreams, Donald Bogle tells–for the first time–the story of a place both mythic and real: Black Hollywood. Spanning sixty years, this deliciously entertaining history uncovers the audacious manner in which many blacks made a place for themselves in an industry that originally had no place for them. Through interviews and the personal recollections of Hollywood luminaries, Bogle pieces together a remarkable history that remains largely obscure to this day. We discover that Black Hollywood was a place distinct from the studio-system-dominated Tinseltown–a world unto itself, with unique rules and social hierarchy. It had its own talent scouts and media, its own watering holes, elegant hotels, and fashionable nightspots, and of course its own glamorous and brilliant personalities. Along with famous actors including Bill “Bojangles” Robinson, Hattie McDaniel (whose home was among Hollywood’s most exquisite), and, later, the stunningly beautiful Lena Horne and the fabulously gifted Sammy Davis, Jr., we meet the likes of heartthrob James Edwards, whose promising career was derailed by whispers of an affair with Lana Turner, and the mysterious Madame Sul-Te-Wan, who shared a close lifelong friendship with pioneering director D. W. Griffith. But Bogle also looks at other members of the black community–from the white stars’ black servants, who had their own money and prestige, to gossip columnists, hairstylists, and architects–and at the world that grew up around them along Central Avenue, the Harlem of the West. In the tradition of Hortense Powdermaker’s classic Hollywood: The Dream Factory and Neal Gabler’s An Empire of Their Own, in Bright Boulevards, Bold Dreams, Donald Bogle re-creates a vanished world that left an indelible mark on Hollywood–and on all of America.

Delving deep into history, Terry Jones and Alan Ereira uncover the impressive cultural and technological achievements of the Celts, Goths, Persians, and Vandals. In this new paperback edition, Terry and Alan travel through 700 years of history on three continents, bringing wit, irreverence, passion, and the very latest scholarship to transform our view of the legacy of the Roman Empire and the creation of the modern world.

Toe-Up 2-at-a-Time Socks English | 2010-04-23 | ISBN: 1603425330 | 176 pages | EPUB | 9 mb Knitwear designer Melissa Morgan-Oakes revolutionized the world of sock-making with 2-at-a-Time Socks. Her ingenious approach showed delighted knitters how to simultaneously create two socks on a single circular needle. With that book, yarn enthusiasts said goodbye forever to second sock syndrome, the frustration of completing one beautiful hand-knit sock, only to remember that another must be made. Now, Morgan-Oakes turns the approach on its head or rather, its toe with Toe-Up 2-at-a-Time Socks. Knitters adore toe-up socks for both novelty and practicality. Knitters can try on the sock as they work, they never run out of yarn before the foot is complete, and they avoid needing the dreaded kitchener stitch to finish off the toe. Many swear that toe-up socks just plain feel more comfortable, too. Morgan-Oakes combines the pleasures of toe-up knitting with the convenience of her 2-at-a-time approach in 15 original designs for men, women, children, and babies. From the delicate and graceful ballerina sock to the kaleidoscopic, nubby peppercorn pattern, there is a style here for every pair of feet. For each pattern, Morgan-Oakes provides row-by-row instructions, charts for both large and small feet, and captivating, four-color photographs of the finished product. Readers aren’t limited to these patterns, however. Once mastered, the technique can be applied to any sock pattern. With Toe-Up 2-at-a-Time Socks as their guide, knitters will rock the toe-up sock world, two-at-a-time, every time.

Secret Weapon: How Economic Terrorism Brought Down the U.S. Stock Market and Why It can Happen Again ISBN: 1596987944 | 2012 | EPUB | 256 pages | 464 KB Who’s really to blame for America’s catastrophic financial meltdown and devastating national recession? Contrary to what the “Occupy Movement” might tell you, it’s not just greedy Wall Street executives (though they certainly earned their share of scorn). It’s not just failed regulation (even though Washington has failed miserably, both Republicans and Democrats, to protect us). As one of America’s top financial professionals reveals in this shocking new book, the failures of Wall Street and Washington have opened us up to economic warfare, with our foreign enemies exploiting our lurking financial weaknesses. In Secret Weapon, Kevin D. Freeman unveils how all the evidence—including motive, means, and opportunity—points to America’s foreign enemies as deliberately pushing our economy over the brink. In this stunning expose, Freeman reveals: The evidence linking Communist China and Islamic finance to economic warfare against the United States Why initial reports linked the 2008 stock market crash to economic terrorism—and why the Obama administration continues to look the other way How the financial attack unfolded—and how the perpetrators tried to cover their tracks Why you should expect another financial attack even more devastating than the last one—and how you can protect yourself from it In Secret Weapon you’ll learn what our enemies know and what the Obama administration has chosen to ignore—that our financial system is profoundly vulnerable to financial terrorism, and that we are being targeted for further and even more destructive attacks by our enemies, who want to cripple America as the world’s leading economy. If you want to protect yourself and protect our country, then you need to read Secret Weapon to understand how we have entered a new age of warfare—an age our enemies want to make the Dark Ages of the United States.

IMAGINE A WORLD WHERE parasites are masters of chemical warfare and camouflage, able to cloak themselves with their hosts' own molecules. IMAGINE A WORLD WHERE parasites steer the course of evolution, where the majority of species are parasites. WELCOME TO EARTH. For centuries, parasites have lived in nightmares, horror stories, and in the darkest shadows of science. Yet these creatures are among the world's most successful and sophisticated organisms. In "Parasite Rex," Carl Zimmer deftly balances the scientific and the disgusting as he takes readers on a fantastic voyage. Traveling from the steamy jungles of Costa Rica to the fetid parasite haven of southern Sudan, Zimmer graphically brings to life how parasites can change DNA, rewire the brain, make men more distrustful and women more outgoing, and turn hosts into the living dead. This thorough, gracefully written book brings parasites out into the open and uncovers what they can teach us about the most fundamental survival tactics in the universe.

How to Improve Your Marriage Without Talking About It (Audiobook) Unabridged edition 2011 | 6 hours and 51 mins | ISBN: 1452655545 | MP3 64 kbps | 183 MB Have you ever had this conversation with your spouse?Wife: “Honey, we need to talk about us.” Husband: “Do we have to?” Drs. Patricia Love and Steven Stosny have studied this all-too-familiar dynamic between men and women and have reached a truly shocking conclusion. Even with the best of intentions, talking about your relationship doesn't bring you together, and it will eventually drive you apart. The reason for this is that underneath most couples' fights, there is a biological difference at work. A woman's vulnerability to fear and anxiety makes her draw closer, while a man's subtle sensitivity to shame makes him pull away in response. This is why so many married couples fall into the archetypal roles of nagging wife/stonewalling husband, and why improving a marriage can't happen through words. How to Improve Your Marriage Without Talking About It teaches couples how to get closer in ways that don't require “trying to turn a man into a woman.” Rich in stories of couples who have turned their marriages around, and full of practical advice about the behaviors that make and break marriages, this essential guide will help couples find love beyond words.
