A Pirate's Possession Disguised as a man, Claire Gentry is searching for the treasure her long-lost father never found. But her facade doesn't fool pirate Nate Carter-the man who stole her heart, and the man who can help her find the treasure. But they may realize that what they've really been searching for isn't riches, but each other.

Arcadium This book is fascinating to those who enjoy creative thinking about how to survive in unusual circumstances. Talk about being outside your comfort zone, this book considers what attributes that could greatly increase ones capacity to survive apocalyptic change. The characters definitely feel alive and their journey through the book takes us through the city and suburbs of Melbourne in a way I never considered before.

Aura Finally, a wholesome source of entertainment. This book is uplifting and encouraging. The moral example set by the main character is refreshing and invigorating. Our rising generation needs authors like Talley who can be the advocates for a voice, slowly being swallowed by the vulgarity and insensitivity that is rampant in society.

Blood Apples Cameron Jace has written another wonderful addition to the Grimm Prequels with "Blood Apples." In this installment, the story is being told from Prince Charming's point of view. We finally learn how he meets Snow White, falls in love

and the reasons behind their unbearable separation. I especially enjoyed this explanation for why apples are the color red. It added an extra layer of mystery that will be sure to pop up again the first book of the series.

Bought by the Billionaire Brothers I loved this story. I can't wait till the next chapter to see what else will happen and how Penny progresses! I wonder what other wild events will occur and what type of ending they will have.

Bought by the Billionaire Brothers 2 An erotic romance short story between a curvaceous accountant who is caught between three distinctly Alpha brothers in a dangerous game set against the backdrop of the ultra-rich.

Bought by the Billionaire Brothers 3 This is a great new series and I'm really enjoying it. While I like all of the characters, my favorite is Dillon. He may seem like the baddie of all the brothers, but there is just something about him that really speaks to me and makes me think that he is the best one for Penny. The other two brothers Nolan and Vince, have some serious issues and hidden agendas and I don't quite trust them. I can't wait to see the next installment. I'm hoping it comes out real soon. Please?!

Coldbrook Coldbrook is a scientific facility where scientists have created a breach into a parallel Earth and are studying what they can see through their limited opening. This is a zombie/apocalypse novel, so as you might suspect, something nasty lumbers through the portal and creates havoc in our earth. It would be easy to dismiss this as a typical guts and gore novel, but that would be wrong, this is an intelligent and thoughtful novel. With zombies.

Containment

What started with Infection (Book 1 of Alaskan Undead Apocalypse) continues in Book 2 (Containment). The small group of survivors face new challenges and meet new people, some good and some evil. Each must deal with the horrors, both from the zombies as well as those felt internally, in their own ways as they become more and more dependent on each other in their micro society.

Dear Life: Stories In the autobiographical section, there are tender remembrances of her past and her time with her familiy. 'Dear Life', the title story, is about her growing up. Her father started a business raising foxes and minks for their pelts. Eventually the business failed and her father went to work in a forgery. Her mother developed Parkinson's Disease when she was in her forties. The family did not realize that it was progressive and incurable. In 'The Eye', she writes about Sadie who helps out in their house. Alice and she develop a close bond. Sadie gets run over by a car on the way back from a dance when she is not yet twenty years old. This story explores the quality of their relationship.

Echo (Soul Seekers) With her boyfriend of her dreams Dace at her side, Daire saved her grandma's soul. However, as a lethal second order effect the Richter sorcerers escaped and have caused havoc in the Lowerworld. Dace's sibling Cade leads a horde of ancestors on a destructive path that causes Daire to choose between embracing her Fated prophecy at a cost to her heart and soul or to allow Cade to conquer the world starting with a small town in the Land of Enchantment.

Eliza's Shadow I really enjoyed reading this story. This book is great for pre-teens and up. It is extremely descriptive and is filled with believable characters.

Every Dark Place Ten years ago, sleepy Shiloh Springs was shaken as five teenagers were clubbed and shot to death and a sixth left for dead. Now the conviction of Booker, the killer, has been overturned after allegations that his rights were violated on his arrest. Rick Trueblood is a careworn private investigator working for the Shiloh County prosecutor's office and still grieving for a daughter murdered eight years ago—a crime he has never been able to solve. The judge has allowed

60 days for the prosecutor's office to find enough evidence to retry the case, but as Rick struggles to reinvestigate a trail long gone cold he uncovers a rat's nest of intrigue and duplicity with ramifications that lead closer to home than he could have possibly imagined. In the meantime, Booker is out on bail, intending to kidnap and murder the two adolescent daughters of the minister who brought him to faith. In the desperate hours that follow him snatching the girls, Rick recovers his instinct for the hunt, and with it, quite unexpectedly, a renewed passion for life.

Fury of Seduction (Dragonfury Series #3) We are now three deep into the Nightfuries series. This installment focuses on Mac, former SPD officer, and Tania, Myst's (from Fury of FIre) best friend. The Big Bad, Ivar, has now set his sights on Tania, a high energy female, to be part of his dragon making factory. Mac is determined to save her, driven by a need he can't explain to keep her safe. See, although Mac and Tania don't remember, they have gotten up close and personal before, during Mac's first Change. (In Fury of Ice) Due to the trauma of the first Change, Mac doesn't remember. B and the boys did a mind scrub on Tania, so she doesn't remember. But they still are oh, so attracted to each other.

Harry Lipkin, Private Eye I enjoyed the laconic main character, Harry, and his humorous remarks and observations. His investigation kept me reasonably interested, but the ending was a disappointment. I think the author could have done better. It dovetails with the thread re. aging, but comes as an improbable surprise. There is no hint at all through the book that might indicate the widow's condition. A more complicated relationship between her and Harry might have made an even more interesting story.

I'll Be Here Perfectly captured the feelings of a heartbroken and in love teenage girl in Willow's character! I found myself very engaged throughout the book.....especially intrigued by Willow and Alex, the past, current and future. If you're looking for a fun, heart-warming, young adult contemporary novel, this is for you! Excellent first novel by the very talented Autumn Doughton. I look forward to her next release!

Infection: Alaskan Undead Apocalypse The book, I think, that is most similar to Infection is I Am Legend (the Book by Matheson) because our protagonists can sometimes feel safe and secure, but at the same time, they feel like they are prisoners. I got the same feeling when Robert Neville was looking out to the street at the wraiths that wanted to kill him as our characters get watching the zombies gather. But Legend was a very solitary story and this is a social one. That is where the stories go in very different directions.

Into the Hollow

The setting and circumstance also help to ramp up the tension as Perry and Dex are forced to be alone all too often, on the run and scared out of their minds. Dex is his usual pervy self and Perry has to try all the harder to not give in to her body's want for him. But, Perry isn't the only one that changed coming out of the Thin Veil. Dex has too and he's not exactly the same man that broke her heart that first time out in Seattle. But make no mistake. While a fantastically creepy and dreadful haze blankets the novel with a 'hunter becomes the hunted' feel, this is a story about Dex and Perry first and foremost.

Merry Christmas, Alex Cross It's a short novel packed with gripping suspense and some hair-raising action. It's Christmas and as we all know, Alex has high family values. The kids, Bree and Nana is his life. He gets called out to a hostage situation that turns deadly and during this time Alex has to make some serious decisions that affect his whole family, especially at Christmas.

My Beautiful Failure A haunting account of a teen boy who volunteers at a suicide hotline and falls for a troubled caller.

My Greek Island Fling This had to be the second-best job in the world. She was actually getting paid to meet interesting people in lovely parts of the world and learn about their lives. And the best thing of all? Not one of those celebrities knew that she used every second of the time she spent travelling and waiting around in cold studios to work on the stories she really wanted to write.

Night Whispers Night Whispers had everything I want in a book - a really strong heroine, a shyer bashful hero, and a great storyline with plenty of action to keep the book moving along

Nothing I didn't know what to make of a book titled Nothing. I soon realized it was nothing like I expected. The story is tight and clipped, lots of action, extremely dark shown through the eyes of a sociopath. The style surprised me, but I soon adjusted and once I did, I really enjoyed it. I looked forward to finishing a work shift so I could read a bit more.

Other Worlds Than These Short story collections containing works by multiple authors can be hard to judge fairly on any kind of rigid scale, because it is rare that a reader will find every story equally good or bad. I have given each story its own 1-5 rating as well. I would recommend this collection to any fantasy or science fiction fans, some of the stories were truly magical. This book is not a light read, and that is certainly not a bad thing...unless you were expecting a light read. Most of these stories are designed to make you think long and hard, and think hard you will.

Phobia This book had me hooked from the beginning! The plot is clever and well thought out, with just the right amount of 'red herrings' ,and kept me guessing for most of the book, something that doesn't happen often.

Renegade Evelyn thinks her life is pretty close to perfect. She's the Daughter of the People, next in line to rule the underwater kingdom on Elysium. With Gavin's help, Evelyn soon begins to realize her life isn't what it seems...

Sacred Sacred is a story about Scarlett who has just suffered a great loss and is having trouble dealing with living. Will comes into the picture and somehow always shows up when she needs it.They have a connection that both feel very powerfully. This is the first book I have read by this author and cannot wait to read more.

Taste However Luka has other plans for Phoenix, he is charming and sexy - and full of mischief. Luka takes Phoenix into a world that she never knew existed. Phoenix is caught between a deadly secret she wants to find out about, her

attraction to these mysterious boys and an ancient civilisation living beneath Barinkoff Academy. She maybe the cure to their very existence.

The Machine: An Ethan Stone Thriller As this is an "Ethan Stone Thriller" it is obviously part of a series however it stands well alone. It is one of the best thrillers I have read this year. It is an action packed book which retains an interesting plot. All of the characters are well described with enough, but not too much, detail to be able to visualise them. I was amused that the central character "Ethan Stone" was someone described as always alert but seemed to have been surprised too easily. Unlike a lot of books almost all of the characters were individual and stood out rather than put in to make up the numbers. I particularly liked "Steven Semyonov" the genius and the enigmatic "Ying Ning" and "Virginia Carlisle" the reporter.

Sir Percy is asking Ryan for a personal favor to meet her and watch out for her, plus he must do this without telling her.

This Man What follows is a game of cat and mouse with Jesse becoming obsessed (a little too obsessed in my opinion!) with having Ava. Ava however is under the misunderstanding that Sarah a woman she met at 'The Mansion' is his girlfriend. Once this misunderstanding is cleared up, they begin a 'relationship'. There is a lot of sex in this book (some of it quite repetitive) but there is also a lot of humour. I loved Ava and her flatmate Kate. I loved when Ava would swear and Jesse always replied with 'watch your effing mouth'!!

Torment: A Novel of Dark Horror Small town reporter, Mia Durante, finds herself having brunch with the President of the United States on the day civilization comes to an end. The Swiss Courier The research is superlative, as one comes to expect from Goyer. The Publishers Weekly reviewer obviously underestimates the intelligence of Goyer's readers and those who love history. The number of plot locations is no trouble at all, only adding credibility to the action, which is credible and fast-paced, yet tame enough not to raise too many eyebrows in the Christian marketplace. The piloting sections were very well done, reminding me of scenes from another favorite Goyer novel, "Dawn of a Thousand Nights." To top it all, the themes of trust and faith are woven nicely into the plot, leaving a few surprises for the final pages.

The Vampire Narcise In 1803 in Paris, vampire hunter Chas Woodmore helps Narcise escape from her brother's house of torture. He takes her to London where she encounters Giordan, who owns a club. Giordan never forgot the woman he cherishes and surrendered all to her brother to take her with him, but received nothing except a broken heart. They still want each other, but she never forgets so she uses the enthralled vampire hunter as her tool to get at her only beloved. At the same time an outraged Cezar and his horde invade London. The third Regency Draculia romantic fantasy (See The Vampire Voss and The Vampire Dmitri) is a terrific thriller in which betrayal is the key element as once burned by something worse than the sun leaves no one trusting anyone else. Fast-paced, fans anticipate the war of the Dracule as blood may be thicker than water, but will hatred prove stronger than love.

The Vampire Stalker I really liked that the settings for both worlds is set in Chicago, one in the 1920's and present day. I thought Allison did a fantastic job at explaining how it was possible for a writer's characters and story could come to life. I enjoyed the book despite the few times I felt there were a few things missing in the story. I enjoyed getting to know the characters and I felt Amy was really relatable. Alexander has all the mannerisms I'd except from someone in the 1920's and it was a little comical at how Amy explains technology to him. I liked their sweet romance and the manner in which Alexander treated Amy was what you'd except from his era. I was surprised with how much I enjoyed the story. It's a fun, unique read with a good ending. Amy's voice is witty and charming. I'd recommend this book to both tween and YA readers.

The Victim Life is looking bleak for Frankie Mitchell - not only has she lost custody of her two children to their sadistic, gypsy-bred father, Jed O'Hara, she is also pregnant and banged up in Holloway awaiting trial for attempted murder. In Frankie's absence, her father, underworld boss Eddie Mitchell, is determined to get his own back. He wants revenge not only for his daughter's imprisonment, but also for the death of his beloved wife, Jessica. Determined to get his grandchildren back home where they belong, Eddie plans the O'Haras demise slowly and precisely. But then he finds out a secret and learns the real reason why his daughter is in the slammer and all hell breaks loose. Essex had never seen anything like the bloodbath that followed, but were either family actually capable of winning this long running feud, or would they all become the victims of their own past mistakes?

Torn Swirling black descends like ravens, large enough to block the glow of the streetlights. A dull roar starts like a train on the 'L', a far-away rumbling that grows louder as it pulls closer, until it's directly overhead and you feel it in your chest, except this doesn't pass you by. Verity, white-faced and eyes blazing, shouts through the din, "Run, Mo!"

Tris & Izzie Overall, still I think the book is quite fun and easy to read. It has a really nice cover which I adore so much. The writing style can be considered as attractive, too. It’s not boring at all that can keep the readers to continue reading. If only Harrison could stick more with the original version of the legend and write a more developed story line with good logic, maybe this book could be a potential bestseller since it has a compelling plot already

Unmanned I love the characters, I love the action, and I love all the plot twists, but I was a little disappointed with the ending. Still a fun read...

Unplugged

I love this series. Chrissy is such a fun character. I find myself laughing out loud when I read these books. The predicaments she gets herself into in this book are truly entertaining. The sexual tension with her and Rivera adds to it, too. All the characters are well rounded and the plot moves along at a good pace. There are plenty of twists to keep you guessing. I highly recommend this book.

Unscrewed Lois Greiman has done it again! She delivers a fast paced story full of wit and sexual tension. Her characters are vivid and her prose creates a likeable character we can all identify with. Fans of Stephanie Plum will love Chrissy's nonstreet smart intelligence and quirky humor. This is truly a gem of a series.

Unzipped I could not put this book down. Christina McMullen is a 30-something cocktail-waitress-turned-psychologist. The story begins when her client, former football pro "Bomber" Bomstad, chases Christina around her office seeking "therapy" and drops dead. In walks hunky detective Jack Rivera, whose prime suspect is Christina. I got a kick out of Christina's efforts to maintain an outwardly professional manner, which stood in sharp contrast with her still-a-cocktail-waitress train of thought. Christina's internal dialogue and her intentional trouble using Rivera's name kept me grinning. The unfolding mystery, the suspense and the sparks flying between Christina and Rivera kept me reading. It's fun. It's light. It's a page-turner.

Very Bad Men Harry Dolan has created a large cast of characters, each of whom plays a role in what will turn out to be a Greek tragedy, Michigan style. The author is good with details: how to kill someone who is locked up in prison what it is like to live with excruciating migraine headaches a fine description of the landscape and inhabitants of Michigan's Upper Peninsula and the tricks that tenacious journalists use to get their stories. Although the plot is ridiculously convoluted and not particularly believable, "Very Bad Man" is entertaining enough to hold our interest. As bodies pile up and events occur that shed new light on what is happening, David and Elizabeth decide to dig deeper into the past. They suspect that the slaughter will not stop until secrets that have been hidden for many years are finally revealed.

Vicious Little Darlings This fast-paced psychological thriller is both frightening and entertaining. The main characters Sarah, Maddy, and Agnes, are at once repulsive, pathetic, and disturbing. But they are also capable of love and compassion. In other words, they are complex and real. Their complexity, which is drawn so convincingly by the author, drives home the point that growing up in this world is at best a perilous enterprise. The novel unfolds at a terrifying speed and leaves the reader gasping for air. As the tension builds, the reader approaches the end with an increasing sense of dread, as well as a sense of relief when the story ends, however unexpected the outcome. The narrative draws in the reader to such an extent that the reader feels as if he or she is in the same room with the principal characters. This first novel is such a rewarding experience that I hope it will be only the beginning of a long period of productive output by this author. Discovering this novel is akin to finding a Picasso in your attic.

Satori This is a thriller to end thrillers. At times I got lost trying to figure out who was after who and why, but mostly it was fascinating and fun. Nicholai relies on his skill with Go to navigate the subtle feints and misdirections he is faced with and figure out each of his moves. Go is a game said to be much more complicated than chess. Nicholai must be very good at it. Winslow's writing kept me turning pages through the night and he is at the top of his game with this novel.

Saved (Book #1 of the Shadow Vampires) I didn't know what to expect from this new vampire book. As a big vampire genre fan I am always hoping for some really good new material. There's a lot of junk out there. This book was FANTASTIC. It has some wonderful characters, is really unique, and kept my turning the pages. There's lots of romance, chills and thrills the entire way through. I really highly recommend it to anybody who wants to get turned on to a new, great vampire series.

Slice of Cherry Two sisters, Fancy and Kit are so closer that nothing can separate them. Little by little their desire to kill becomes more and more demanding. First is just little cuts and then its a finger! Knowing the knowledge that their father left them, Fancy can't lose anyone else. These girls were just unbelievable. The things they did and said were just mind blowing. It was so crazy, I laughed. Now I know some people would read this and be disturbed but not me. It anything, Ms. Reeves voice as a writer is one you can't deny or miss. Her book totally stands out above others with it uniqueness and clarity. The paranormal part was one I enjoyed with the secret doorway and endless possibilities. I love how they did magic with the faerie ring. Really intriguing.

Steam Toys Steam Toys is a fun and, well, steamy read. Destiny Blaine delivers an entertaining erotica tale complete with an uninhibited heroine, brilliant hero, and imaginative sex toys. It's easy to like Steam Toys, for the story has an almost exuberant energy. There were a few times I raised my eyebrows at the plot, but in the end I simply enjoyed the ride. Heidi and Edward are likeable, the sex is hot, and the romance present, though a bit understated.

The Anvil of the World I really enjoyed it but thought others should know that it really is three short stories, interconnected and with some of the same characters, rather than one long novel. Once I realized that, I enjoyed it much more. I laughed out loud several times while reading this book it was not dark and gloomy, which for some reason I was expecting. The characters were unique and interesting and there were some lovely, unexpected surprises along the way.

The Homecoming

Although this story takes place during WWII, it's characters and their situations are timeless. Like a bud opening into bloom, the author, with lovely prose and insight, gives us a beautiful look at people resisting and then awakening to Love's power and we recognize ourselves. For anyone who was around during this time it is a wonderful journey down memory lane. For those too young to have known this era first hand, it is a great way to experience it vicariously.

The Kings of Eternity Because both narrators are writers the prose flows very well, the descriptions of their surroundings, the events that they are part of and their story in general are conveyed in such a way that you don't so much as read the novel but simply absorb the story. Sometimes a book can have this readability factor that makes you want to plow through it and get to the end, but the opposite is true for The Kings of Eternity. I didn't want it to end, and even though I was desperate to read more and more in each sitting I rationed myself to the novel, not wanting to come to the final page. However, the end did come and I was left wanting. I did not want The Kings of Eternity to be anything other than what it was, I just wanted more. Perhaps this is selfish of me, but it is rare that a book delivers such a story that I felt deprived when it ended.

The Old Capital As with so many Japanese novels of this period, and more so with Kawabata, the enormity of the emotions of the characters is expressed through their relationship to their context: a mountain rain shower, a festival, the uncanny resemblance of two teenage girls. A halting courtship and headstrong rebellion are expressed through arguments over the design for a custom-woven obi. Kawabata reveals so much while saying so little. The reader is almost encouraged to pause and reflect after scenes of particular intensity. The protagonists only graze their sentiments, but the reader is drawn into their turbulence. The novel is sparingly translated by Holman - in the North Point Press edition, one suspects from his preface that he received many criticisms of his first draft.

The Return of Captain John Emmett Anyone who's read and enjoyed the novels of Charles Todd or Jacqueline Winspear (the post WW1 mystery series featuring, respectively, Ian Rutledge and Maisie Dobbs) is likely to be drawn to this debut mystery novel from Elizabeth Speller. Just don't succumb to "post WW1 fatigue" and avoid it on that basis: in many ways this novel (which feels like a stand-alone book rather than the beginning of a series, and is the better for it) offers the reader elements that the two series can't and don't.

A Woman Worth Ten Coppers At a nicely rounded 324 pages it's neither too long nor too short, leaving no room for any boring interludes or superfluous descriptions. The dialogue is tight and realistic. This is a great start to what promises to be a great series. It's not overdone with too much blood or magic or narrative, and has just the right amount of action and adventure. I highly recommend this book to all fantasy lovers.

Bamboo and Blood: An Inspector O Novel

The third Inspector O investigation (see CORPSE IN THE KORYO and HIDDEN MOON) is once again a great tale more so because of a the deep look into North Korea. O is excellent as he knows other agencies are spying on him to insure he learns very little as the need to know is always restricted. The whodunit and the Israeli espionage caper are both well written to showcase Inspector O's skills and the paranoia of a regime that sees everyone even loyal citizens as the enemy.

By the Mast Divided There are a lot of characters and backstories, and the books tend to end with cliffhangers, but the story is interesting and different enough from many of the other nautical fiction books I have read. A good start to a new series.

By The Time You Read This, I'll Be Dead The world is a freaking messed up place, no need to hide that. This may be a hard read, but only because it's so real that it hurts. The characters in the book were magnificent. The guy, Santana, I've never been so in love with a realistic-fiction character before. I wanted to tear him out of the book. He will steal your heart and keep it. The writing was good, felt awkward at times, but worked perfectly.

Candle in the Storm: The Shadowed Path It was cool having mentions of Dar, though I found myself angry and annoyed with Cara. I know that the author gives his heroines hardships to make them seem stronger, but what happened to Dar's descendant just felt like overkill. I will read the third book if for no other reason than to complete Yim's story and find out what happens to her. Hopefully Mr. Howell will do better with the third book than this one.

Certain Girls At first I wasn't sure what to make of "Certain Girls." I enjoyed the first few chapters, but everything about the novel seemed so predictable and obvious. However, Weiner is a pretty fantastic storyteller, and despite the fact that I had most of the story figured out right away, I was completely drawn in by the book's characters and the emotions that they experienced, which are all unbelievably honest and relatable. As I continued reading, I thought that "Certain Girls" may end up being Weiner's best book to date...

Stravaganza: City of Secrets

With an ongoing slow-building romance, non-stop action, mystery upon mystery, and plenty of espionage and court intrigue, the pace never ceases. With the ending of each book the Stravaganza fans give a standing ovation, and plead for more.

Stravaganza: City of Ships I found the story to be a little less focused on Isabel's 'issue at hand', in this case her feeling second fiddle to her twin brother, but still enjoyed the storyline for this fifth installment of the Stravaganza series. The role her brother did end up playing in the story was unexpected and very different from something typically found in this series. I did find some odd loose ends in this novel. I'd like to see what comes of Flavia's son and Isabeb's pirate friend Andrea. And also, the biggest question on my mind after finishing: what did Luciano's mother want to tell her son? It's probably nothing big or surprising, but I want to know!

Dark Horse: A Hard-Boiled Mystery This book is more then a detective murder mystery it contains real touches of humanness along with an Spiritual air that is very captivating. J. R. Rain comes across in this book as a very relaxed writer, one that brings you along the story with the comfort of a cup of tea on a rainy night. He merges his wit with true detective know how and decorum to bring the reality of a real case with the fantasy interlace of a novel. His characters come to life as you stand behind their lives involving the reader with true emotion. The concept of bringing Jack (God) into the story gives an unexpected added twist that really makes the reader wonder about the evidence of All that Is without being preachy yet giving the book a welcome spiritual or slightly paranormal insight. I highly recommend this book, it is an easy read and a must for the mystery novel aficionado.

Nekropolis I didn't get the whole Devona/Richter relationship, but I'm hoping that's explored further in the next novel as it has the potential to grow on me, I think. But other than that, I got kind of annoyed that everyone and his mother owed Richter. I get it. He's unique, and the favors he does for everyone are super fantastic. But that also implied that he had talents, could think on his feet, and had the ability to preform these amazing feats - otherwise I don't think everyone would be as indebted to him as they are. And yeah, you get to see that sometimes, but I'm hoping the favors aren't something that are relied upon all the time because it makes me roll my eyes, particularly since at the end of the novel and stripped of even his physical body, you get to see that Matt really do the seemingly impossible. In the second novel, I'd like to see him rely more on himself and less on the favors of others.

Dead Streets This is a sequel to Nekropolis, yet works well as a stand alone novel as well. As a zombie, Matt often finds himself (painlessly) deteriorating and needing patched up. But when Matt is decapitated, and loses his body, even more suspense and hilarity ensue. With just as much dark humor, adventure, mystery, and incredible characters, I enjoyed this installment even more than the last. It's non-stop excitement from beginning to end. This series is a must read for fans of dark fantasy and horror.

Lady of Devices Another great steampunk author to add to your list if you like Gail Carriger or Lindsay Buroker. This is a charming first entry in a series about an aristocratic young lady who is forced to use her wits and engineering skills to get on in life. Very well written and definitely worth a read.

Panorama War comes and two sections deal with Josef as a forced laborer and his time in concentration camps and his reflecting on his life from self-imposed exile in Britain. Adler's writing is stream-of-consciousness that you will find streaming, heavily philosophically, and the style changes as Josef matures and ages. Adler's portrayal of daily life and a young man's existential maturation and what not in the region of Bohemia between the wars is full of satirical and loving detail that turns grim in the Holocaust sections. But the long, clause heavy sentences feel clunky in translation and make this book more fascinating as a treasure of cultural and literary history than as a purely narrative read.

Back to Work: Why We Need Smart Government for a Strong Economy (Audiobook)

Unabridged edition 2011 | 5 hours and 16 mins | ISBN: 0307990699 | MP3 256 kbps | 596 MB President Bill Clinton gives us his views on the challenges facing the United States today and why government matters—presenting his ideas on restoring economic growth, job creation, financial responsibility, resolving the mortgage crisis, and pursuing a strategy to get us "back in the future business.” He explains how we got into the current economic crisis, and offers specific recommendations on how we can put people back to work, increase bank lending and corporate investment, double our exports, restore our manufacturing base, and create new businesses. He supports President Obama’s emphasis on green technology, saying that changing the way we produce and consume energy is the strategy most likely to spark a fast-growing economy while enhancing our national security. Clinton also stresses that we need a strong private sector and a smart government working together to restore prosperity and progress, demonstrating that whenever we’ve given in to the temptation to blame government for all our problems, we’ve lost our ability to produce sustained economic growth and shared prosperity. Clinton writes, “There is simply no evidence that we can succeed in the twenty-first century with an antigovernment strategy,” based on “a philosophy grounded in ‘you’re on your own’ rather than ‘we’re all in this together.’ ” He believes that conflict between government and the private sector has proved to be good politics but has produced bad policies, giving us a weak economy with not enough jobs, growing income inequality and poverty, and a decline in our competitive position. In the real world, cooperation works much better than conflict, and “Americans need victories in real life.”
