The Barbarous Coast "The Barbarous Coast" is a perfect example of a "hard-boiled" detective story. The "hard-boiled" detective story has been analyzed, re-analyzed, and over-analyzed. Ditto for the leading authors of the genre Hammett, Chandler, and Ross MacDonald. Consequently, it can be difficult to look at a novel of this genre as a stand-alone story.
The Biographer Greer Gordon lives in Italy with Mischa Svoboda, a driven Czech-born painter with a booming international reputation. Their explosive love affair caused Greer to abandon her husband and job, to sever all contact with home, and to embark upon a nomadic life with Mischa. Tony, a young American art critic, has been researching a biography of Mischa and has come to the small Italian hilltop community where they now live to interview the artist. Greer is consumed by anxiety, fearing Tony may have unearthed a buried secret she had intended to write out of her life story. It soon becomes clear that Tony is manipulating the couple in order to produce a more exciting conclusion to his book. As her hand is slowly forced, Greer must finally examine her past actions, and in the process she makes a lifechanging discovery.
The Blue Hammer Wonderfully insightful for any serious seekers. I had reservations about reading a channeled book, but every reservation I had disappeared immediately. Bartholomew teachs about love & relationships, The Self and the Path of Enlightment. It will wake you up and open your eyes to the awareness of how vast you truly are. Your spirit will soar.
The Cradle in the Grave In case you are looking for a new mystery author whose work to follow, Sophie Hannah will be a great choice. Her novels are beautifully plotted and truly impossible to put down. This is a writer who seems to be incapable of writing a boring sentence, let alone a page. THE CRADLE IN THE GRAVE is no exception in Hannah's collection of amazing psychological mysteries.
The Crooked Letter: Books of the Cataclysm: One This book is fascinating, but difficult to understand at first. By the end of the book, one gains some comprehension of the overall situation, but so much is still unexplained. Don't expect the sequel to tie up all the dangling ideas, but maybe it will come to an acceptable conclusion. If you have read any other works by the author, such inexplicable and unexplained concepts should be familiar usages.

The Cut (Spero Lucas) I suppose the one minor criticism I'd make of the book is that the ending is much "cleaner" than I expected. Without spoiling anything, I will just say that I expected there to be some greater consequences or blowback than there proved to be. However, since this appears to be the launch of a new character and new series, it may be that Pelecanos is going to spend a little time building Spero's world up before heading down that road. A final warning: it's short, you can read it in about three hours, and it's going to leave you wanting more.
The Demon Queen and The Locksmith Throughout the book, it felt more like a fairy tale than a typical fantasy. I often found myself thinking the story was allegorical although, if so, I was never able to pinpoint why I felt that or deduce the symbolism. In the end it doesn't matter whether this was my overactive imagination or not, because the story works so well. If escapism is one of the reasons for reading fiction then "The Demon Queen and the Locksmith" should allow a teen (or an adult for that matter) an escape from the problems of their real world life as they follow Kevin on his adventure.
The Devoured Earth (The Books of the Cataclysm) It's the end of the world. But there is hope, just as there was last time, when Seth and Hadrian Castillo trapped Yod in the Void Beneath and sacrificed their future to keep it there.
The Doomsters
In some ways The Doomsters is a typical Lew Archer thriller: it involves a missing suspected murderer, family strife, and mysterious deaths in the distant past. This time, Archer falls in love and self-interest actually hinders him from being the moral center of the novel. What keeps the pace of the novel flowing is the theme of a man condemned by society and Archer's efforts to prove his innocence. There is also plenty of bloodshed, betrayals, and enough plot twists to keep the conclusion a surprise. In spite of the tragic turn the story takes there is the redemption for Archer who makes up for his own dreadful mistake in the past. It explains a great deal about Archer, his motivation and his maturity which grows in later Ross Macdonald novels.
Babylon Rising: The Edge of Darkness This book is what I would call a transitional piece in that series and therefore I would highly recommend that the reader read the begiining of the series first, altough books 2 and 3 could read as a stand alone this book requires one to know the characters and the story line.

The Europa Conspiracy It can get better though. The writers need to spend more time developing the small details. If a character is in a particular position, say, at the bottom of a cliff, for example, this book will instantly have that character at the top of the cliff in the next paragraph. This can be dangerous at times and can often leave out critical information. There is a part in this book where you dont learn how someone dies. One page, the character is fine. A few pages and no details later, someone is mourning his loss. Details, details, details.
The Hellfire Club Peter Straub is my favorite author, and this novel is certainly his best. Full of suspense and intriguing twists of the plot, this book will fully capture your attention. If you like Peter Straub, don't pass this one up. You may also want to read Peter Straub's Mystery and Floating Dragon they are captivating.
The Ivory Grin Archer has a dry wit and no overly developed sense of his own importance. His observations of his clients, his surroundings, and the events he becomes part of are smart and wise. In this novel, Archer starts out in his hard-boiled detective office, but spends little time there as he travels between Los Angeles and one of those hot and dusty inland California towns where his clients and the people they're seeking always seem to end up. He runs up against desperate people, motivated by greed and unloosed from whatever moral compass they may have started with long ago in some other existence. He struggles at each point to see who might be on the right side of things, and in almost every case he is disappointed. In The Ivory Grin, there are no heroes, except perhaps Lew Archer himself, and he lays no claim to that title.
The Margrave In The Margrave, Galen and Raffi find themselves at the perilous Pits of Marr, where something evil awaits them. Not just evil, but frightening and sinister. And in The Margrave, I think the entire series finally came together. To me, this was an excellent and exciting ending to a fun series that finally grew into its potential. While it is, of course, not as good as Incarceron or Sapphique, The Margrave was a satisfying ending to a fun adventure.
The Night Inspector William shares an intimate relationship with Jessie, a creole prostitute, with whom a plot is formed to free child slaves. and adds horrific tension, though I was a little confused in this section until near the ending. This book was a complete surprise. I had no idea what a treat I was in for and recommend it highly.

The Assassins Gallery There are a few predictable elements in this novel, including the obligatory high-speed chase scenes and near-misses that we have come to expect. However, Robbins goes way beyond the obvious, and the suspense builds excruciatingly as Judith edges closer to her goal. "The Assassins Gallery" provides satisfying entertainment and a refreshingly original conclusion, with several loose ends that are purposely left dangling. Robbins, it seems, agrees with his fictional hero that world events can never be tied up in a neat package.
Walk Two Moons Critics of the book like to dismiss it for a variety of sins. They claim it hasn't any strong female characters. Apparently Mary Lou's working mom doesn't count. Nor Pheobe's neighbor, a woman who had to deal with the death of her husband and blindness of her mother all on her own. Nor, for that matter, Sal herself. An amazingly capable young woman who is not perfect, but contains all the qualities of a person learning what life is all about. Critics also claim the book is dull. Sorry, folks. It ain't. The book does not suffer from pages of descriptive passages. The characters speak with zing and verve. The plot is fascinating.
Path of Revenge They all grow over the novel and each has their own pecularities that seemed very human. From previous reviews it seems he has made the pacing a little quicker and has focused on improving the character development, while amping down descriptions of the surroundings. It is however important to note that Kirkpatrick is a geographer so it would be wise to expect a detailed description of areas and maps. I found his realm very entertaining and it kept me enthralled until the end, I found the pacing very smooth and it definatley has an interesting syle of reading that I would recommend needs to be read in scenes and not haphazardly.
Robert B. Parker's Killing the Blues Once I got past the differences and recognized that there were not to be any more and any vast changes I began to enjoy the book, and again there was much in the plot to enjoy. A released criminal from L.A. is out for revenge and causing havok in Paradise. There is a school hostage sitation and the fall out from that, and a mob element that is muscling in, using Paradise as its home. In a Parker novel, one of these might be the only plot, so I found the book rich and engaging with much to keep the story moving forward.
Running Blind I have just finished reading the latest in this great series by English author Lee Child. Just like Killing Floor and Die Trying, this novel flies along at a frantic pace that you try hard to keep up with. Reacher is the suspect in a bizarre series of murders in which ex-army women (who left the force because of a variety of sexual harassment cases) are left naked in their bathtubs filled with green army paint. The killer leaves no clues and what is even more bizarre, they have no idea how the women died. Even after Reacher's name is cleared, he is blackmailed by the FBI into unravelling this bizarre case. He must get to the killer before more women die, or face the consequences of the FBI's fury.

Stripped The epilogue leaves open a door for a sequel. But I doubt if I will be looking it up, unless Alexa and Matt become more forceful than they were in this book. It is a shame because I think this author writes really, really well. But I was not compelled to stay in her world. Also important to note: this is not a paranormal romance. While Alexa and Matt are acknowledged lovers and end up together, the romance portion of the book is almost nil. This is pure UF
Mystery
This is such an unusual book, and completely addictive after I got the hang of his style. It started off a trifle slowly for me, but became so enjoyable in the character development and story that I went to bed earlier and earlier to read more before drifting off.
A Fatal Slip I love mysteries, the constant humming in my brain "Who did it? Who?" only increased as the story progressed and I was anticipating the answer till the very end. I must admit that at one point even her own husband came under my suspicions, the story was that well created. I can't wait for the next book, hopefully it comers out soon Carolyn is developing into a really fun character whom I like to visit through the world of books and her life and friends and her story are a cozy backdrop to each mystery.
A Murderous Glaze Tim Myers, a.k.a. Melissa Glazer, has yet another winning cozy series on his hands with the debut of A Murderous Glaze, featuring pottery shop owner, Carolyn Emerson. The setting is a cozy, small town in Vermont, and the book opens with the murder of Betty Wickline having already taken place inside Carolyn's shop, Fire At Will, the night before. Since Betty was murdered inside Carolyn's shop with one of Carolyn's tools, and since her animosity toward Betty was common knowledge, the town sheriff, John Hodges, considers Carolyn a viable suspect, or is that just to deflect suspicion from himself?
Confessions of a PK Sixteen-year-old Addison Blakely has tireless played the role of PK preacher’s kid her entire life. But after Wes Keegan revs his motorcycle into town and into her heart, Addison begins to wonder how much of her faith is her own and how much has been handed to her. Beyond the Wall of Time For all I loved this series, I found myself wondering sometimes at the 'continuation' of some of the happenings of this tale. Just when something seems to have reached a conclusion (not necessarily at the end, but many times in side tales throughout this final book), something else pops up to extend the event...there was always one more thing that unexpectedly happens to what appears, for all intents and purposes, 'a done deal'. It was like the author just couldn't leave well-enough alone. This concern is a little difficult to explain adequately without giving away important details of the story, but unfortunately this technique took a little bit of the glow off this final book for me.
Black Money Hammet, Chandler, McBain, Pronzini, Block and Parker are all masters of the American detective novel. The first two created the form, the last four continue to carry it out with both continued freshness and comfortable familiarity. The most perfect form, however, is the series of Lew Archer stories and novels written by the late Ross MacDonald. Like Chandler an immigant, he caught the smell and the feel of Southern California better than a native. He also crystalized the inner calmness and unwavering honor of the classic private eye, without awkwardness and sentiment. Perhaps the greatest tribute that could be given to MacDonald the writer is that he only wrote one story, but wrote it so well that each time was a new experience. This story is just that, a fresh look at the classic life and conflict in a Southern California that never existed but is real and beloved to everyone who admires and appreciates this very American form of literature.
Cage of Night On the surface, Gorman's style is deceptively simple clean, tight prose in service of a relatively straightforward tale of suspense. But that simple style actually conceals a lot of complexity, as Gorman subtly muddies the fictional waters, creating a great deal of ambiguity. Readers can not be sure of the underlying cause of the distrubing events which occur. Is it Cindy, mentally unstable, but able to twist men around her little finger? Some kind of rare, shared psychotic disorder? The Lovecraftian "alien" who inhabits the well? One can't be sure. One thing you can be sure of however, is that Cage of Night is quintessential Gorman: a suspenseful, gripping tale, told without a wasted word.
Dark Heart This to me, was the best of the books in this double trilogy. Kirkpatrick continues to improve as writer and story teller and is not afraid to explore new ideas ideas that add zest and a compelling 'read-on' quality to an already great fantasy tale.
Double Back Alan McQueen (aka Mac) the intrepid hero of Golden Serpent and Second Strike is a tough, true-blue, resourceful Aussie. An intelligence agent, Mac spends a lot of his time doing undercover work in south east Asia. Double Back sees Mac putting his life on the line fighting dangerous forces who will stop at nothing to sink the independence movement in East Timor. Fighting the good fight, Mac discovers a plot to use a deadly ethno-bomb which kills only native East Timorese - who don't share the ethnicity of most Indonesians . . . Can Mac secure the ethno-bomb before it's too late?

Fateful I REALLY enjoyed this book. I loved it! It was very well written. I am constantly on the look out for a really good story, with great characters, well developed plot and of course a melt your heart romance. Believe me it doesn't happen often. But I was soooo happy to find Fateful met and exceeded all of my criteria. I'm still smiling about it :). O.k as for the comments that it is a Twilight copy. Please. Yes there are some similarities. There is a vampire who is good, who falls in love with a human and there are some bad vampires. And that's about it. Everything else (which there is a lot more) is not only unique to Fateful but makes it so much more and different than anything else out there. Lastly, for all of us thousands of readers who were searching for something as good (if not better) to read after Twilight. This is IT!
Golden Serpent The missing consular girl's trail leads to Sulawesi where what is a routine job explodes into a whole other realm of violence, fear and double-crossing. How McQueen gets himself out of his predicaments, makes alliances with a bunch of scary Maori mercenaries and somehow stays out of the cross-hairs of the assassins sent by another organisation while also fighting off the internal politics of Aussie SIS, makes for a truly great thriller. How he finds the time to determine what conspiracy is really going on at the Port of Singapore makes for highly entertaining reading.
Goliath The book's ingram may seem like a cliche (A group of terrorists aboard a futuristic killer sub, yadda yadda yadda) but the story is anything but. It starts off with a rip-roaring assault on the U.S. Navy, with Goliath, the killer sub in question, sinking a Navy convoy! To add insult to injury, the assault's survivor designed Goliath herself! Things quickly heat up, as the U.S. goverment must trust Gunnar Wolfe, who's a traitor to America and target for everyone's dislike including his ex-fiancee, the survivor. Bad gets to worse as the terrorists turn out to be lead by an old friend of Gunnar's, and the Goliath's A.I. supercomputer, Sorceress, starts to evolve and develop some wicked schemes of "her" own! Like I said, it all seems cliched, but once you're reading, you'll start to deny your former assessment. Steve Alten takes the killer sub/evil computer cliches and tosses them out the window with his ingenious writing. If you don't pick this up, then shame on you.
Half-Breed Alexa is keeping a secret from her husband and being half werewolf isn't it. After all, he's a full-blood. Despite their abnormalities, Matt and Alexa York have settled into suburbia and gone out of their way to look like the couple next door. Their rouse may have fooled an entire community, however, others remain unconvinced. The Georgia Pack learns that the Yorks have encroached on their territory. Most strays who venture into their land end up dead because they draw attention to themselves. A trail of corpses will do that. But the Yorks are different. They cook and clean, have plans to start a family, and have even joined the Halloween decoration committee. Instead of tearing them from their foundations, the pack is intrigued by the domestic suburbanites. Unfortunately, Alexa's less domestic than she seems. Not all wives are into crossbows, bowing knives, and jaw-crushing right hooks. Eight months ago, Alexa's bounty hunting group disbanded after a third of the team lost their lives in an ambush. Now they're back and expecting her to take her place. As if being an enigma to the Georgia Pack isn't enough, becoming a stranger to your husband is even worse. That's the price Alexa pays when her deception is deadlier than her aim.
How Firm A Foundation This book is intended for those readers who like really loooonnnngggg series. The Honor Harrington series is over 20 books now if I remember right. I don't expect this series to be any shorter. I just hope both Weber and I live to reach the end. Neither of is a spring chicken anymore.

Hunted The book has a very contemporary feel to it, with the author referring constantly to the very dense and high tech CCTV coverage in London much of it with facial recognition capabilities. A virtual world which seems to be the twin of Second Life is used for communication and there are even references to kettling which is a police tactic to limit crowds to one area, and which has recently come into use in London. This is a stylishly written thriller with interesting and unexpected twists, and which most readers will find compelling reading. There are enough unresolved issues at the end to fill one or more sequels. Clearly there is a lot of mileage in Danny Shanklin as a character and I look forward to his future outings.
In the Night Room Too many questions are left unanswered in In The Night Room, as if Straub was deliberately trying to confuse his readers at times. Then again, reading a Straub book is always a treat. His writing is very poetic, his sentences always hiding many surprises for the reader. Straub is an amazing writer. Even when his stories faulter, his writing style is enough to keep you turning the pages.
Kill Alex Cross Plot aside, the prose of K.A.C. isn't quite as agonising as Cross!! Country!!!, however trademark exclamation points do make a few too many appearances, especially in the beginning chapters. Point of View leapfrogs around like an electrocuted toad and the humour of this book is hit-and-miss at best. I'm trying desperately to avoid a spoiler here, but I have to say that rather than tying together several different strands of plot, Patterson mangles together two concepts, both too big for their boots, and leaves a feeling of 'how many fanfiction short stories did I just read?' Let me be clear - I'm extra ranty because this was almost a good book. There is some killer action, and some tense moments. For die-hard fans this is a must read. For people with more than half a brain: not so sure this one is worth it.
Koko This book is one of the few that has managed to keep me - a dedicated reader - up at nights, and as such it is one of the few that I would like to read again. If you can't get a new copy of the novel, do yourself a favor and pick up a used one. If you are a fan of intense, intelligent horror you owe yourself a reading of this great work.
Lost Boy, Lost Girl From the very beginning LOST BOY LOST GIRL has an eerie gothic atmosphere and as the plot moves forward the tale becomes even spookier. There are two parallel sub-plots involving a serial killer and a ghost that never intersect, leaving readers to ponder Mark's fate throughout the novel. Timothy Underhill, who also appeared in KOKO AND THE THROAT, plays a vital role in this horror thriller. He is the one who puts together Mark's actions during his last days and comes to a conclusion that is emotionally satisfying his belief system. Peter Straub continues to write great horror novels that engage his myriad of fans.

Mercy: An Erotic Novel This is a full length novel at a pitifully low price. No BDSM fan has an excuse not to gift themselves with this gem. Annabel Joseph is one of the best BDSM authors out there. Her characters have true depth, passion and flaws. Mercy is about a ballerina facing the sad truth of ageing and her own struggles with a need to be submissive. She meets a benefactor and the two fall into a Dom/sub relationship that fulfills their own needs but concerns the other dancers. Joseph isn't afraid to go to dark, unseemly places to give her characters raw reality. Doms don't sparkle and sing love songs all day long. They control and thrill to submission. There are a couple of moments when on the surface the benefactors actions seem heartless. Look deeper. Expect more. Because of the darkness, the light at the end is so profound and entrancing. These two fit the image of two puzzle pieces needing and completing each other. When a ballerina thinks her life is over, it has only just begun. Don't miss this or any Annabel Joseph BDSM novel. Gems, all of them.

The Feud That Sparked the Renaissance: How Brunelleschi and Ghiberti Changed the Art World 2003 | ISBN-10: 0380977877, 0380977877 | PDF | 288 pages | 3 MB A lively and intriguing tale of the competition between two artists, culminating in the construction of the Duomo in Florence, this is also the story of a city on the verge of greatness, and the dawn of the Renaissance, when everything artistic would change. Florence′s Duomo - the dome of the Santa Maria del Fiore cathedral - is one of the most enduring symbols of the Italian Renaissance, an equal in influence and fame to Leonardo and Michaelangelo′s works. It was designed by Filippo Brunelleschi, the temperamental architect who rediscovered the techniques of mathematical perspective. He was the dome′s ′inventor′, whose secret methods for building remain a mystery as compelling to architects as Fermat′s Last Theorem once was to mathematicians. Yet Brunelleschi didn′t direct the construction of the dome alone. He was forced to share the commission with his arch-rival, the sculptor Lorenzo Ghiberti, whose ′Paradise Doors′ are also masterworks. This is the story of these two men - a tale of artistic genius and individual triumph.
Sixty Million Frenchmen Can't Be Wrong: Why We Love France but Not the French 2003 | ISBN-10: 1402200455 | PDF | 351 pages | 3 MB At last, a fresh take on a country that no one can seem to understand.
The French smoke, drink and eat more fat than anyone in the world, yet they live longer and have fewer heart problems than Americans. They take seven weeks of paid vacation per year, yet have the world’s highest productivity index. From a distance, modern France looks like a riddle. But up close, it all makes sense. Sixty Million Frenchmen Can’t Be Wrong shows how the pieces of the puzzle fit together. Decrypting French ideas about land, food, privacy and language, the authors weave together the threads of French society—from centralization and the Napoleonic code to elite education and even street protests—giving us, for the first time, an understanding of France and the French. Sixty Million Frenchmen Can’t Be Wrong is the most ambitious work published on France since Theodor Zeldin’s The French. It goes beyond Adam Gopnik’sParis to the Moon to explain not only the essence of the French, but also how they got to be the way they are. Unlike Jonathan Fenby’s France on the Brink, the authors do not see France in a state of decline, but one of perpetual renewal.
Sex with Kings: 500 Years of Adultery, Power, Rivalry, and Revenge 2004 | ISBN-10: 0060585439 | EPUB, MOBI | 304 pages | 1 MB Throughout the centuries, royal mistresses have been worshiped, feared, envied, and reviled. They set the fashions, encouraged the arts, and, in some cases, ruled nations. Eleanor Herman's Sex with Kings takes us into the throne rooms and bedrooms of Europe's most powerful monarchs. Alive with flamboyant characters, outrageous humor, and stirring poignancy, this glittering tale of passion and politics chronicles five hundred years of scintillating women and the kings who loved them. Curiously, the main function of a royal mistress was not to provide the king with sex but with companionship. Forced to marry repulsive foreign princesses, kings sought solace with women of their own choice. And what women they were! From Madame de Pompadour, the famous mistress of Louis XV, who kept her position for nineteen years despite her frigidity, to modern-day Camilla Parker-Bowles, who usurped none other than the glamorous Diana, Princess of Wales. The successful royal mistress made herself irreplaceable. She was ready to converse gaily with him when she was tired, make love until all hours when she was ill, and cater to his every whim. Wearing a mask of beaming delight over any and all discomforts, she was never to be exhausted, complaining, or grief-stricken. True, financial rewards for services rendered were of royal proportions—some royal mistresses earned up to $200 million in titles, pensions, jewels, and palaces. Some kings allowed their mistresses to exercise unlimited political power. But for all its grandeur, a royal court was a scorpion's nest of insatiable greed, unquenchable lust, and vicious ambition. Hundreds of beautiful women vied to unseat the royal mistress. Many would suffer the slings and arrows of negative public opinion, some met with tragic ends and were pensioned off to make room for younger women. But the royal mistress often had the last laugh, as she lived well and richly off the fruits of her "sins." From the dawn of time, power has been a mighty aphrodisiac. With diaries, personal letters, and diplomatic dispatches, Eleanor Herman's trailblazing research reveals the dynamics of sex and power, rivalry and revenge, at the most brilliant courts of Europe. Wickedly witty and endlessly entertaining, Sex with Kings is a chapter of women's history that has remained unwritten—until now.

SuperFreakonomics: Global Cooling, Patriotic Prostitutes, and Why Suicide Bombers Should Buy Life Insurance 2009 | ISBN-10: 0060889578 | PDF, EPUB, MOBI | 288 pages | 5 MB The New York Times best-selling Freakonomics was a worldwide sensation, selling over four million copies in thirtyfive languages and changing the way we look at the world. Now, Steven D. Levitt and Stephen J. Dubner return with SuperFreakonomics, and fans and newcomers alike will find that the freakquel is even bolder, funnier, and more surprising than the first. Four years in the making, SuperFreakonomics asks not only the tough questions, but the unexpected ones: What's more dangerous, driving drunk or walking drunk? Why is chemotherapy prescribed so often if it's so ineffective? Can a sex change boost your salary? SuperFreakonomics challenges the way we think all over again, exploring the hidden side of everything with such questions as: How is a street prostitute like a department-store Santa? Why are doctors so bad at washing their hands? How much good do car seats do? What's the best way to catch a terrorist? Did TV cause a rise in crime? What do hurricanes, heart attacks, and highway deaths have in common? Are people hard-wired for altruism or selfishness? Can eating kangaroo save the planet? Which adds more value: a pimp or a Realtor? Levitt and Dubner mix smart thinking and great storytelling like no one else, whether investigating a solution to global warming or explaining why the price of oral sex has fallen so drastically. By examining how people respond to incentives, they show the world for what it really is – good, bad, ugly, and, in the final analysis, super freaky. Freakonomics has been imitated many times over – but only now, with SuperFreakonomics, has it met its match.

The Complete Book of Drawing Techniques Publisher: Foulsham (November 10, 2004) | ISBN: 0572029160 | Pages: 208 | PDF | 20.67 MB Drawing, just like writing or speech, is a form of communication, and in the same way as these other forms of communication drawing can be multi-faceted, and very diverse as a means of expression of our observations, thoughts and feelings. Across the broad ?eld of art and design, artists and designers will use drawing as a speci?c tool for visual communication, and at the same time use a wide spectrum of drawing techniques to express, develop, and present their ideas and work to the viewer for what ever reason. Therefore, it is impossible to make a drawing unless the artist has a clear understanding of the type of drawing that is to be created, and the visual language that is to be used which will give form and expressive dynamics to the drawing. This is often forgotten or misunderstood by most teachers of drawing.

And there’s nothing more disheartening and irritating than that murky closet from the netherworld, where boxes tumble down on our heads whenever the door opens, where the sheer clutter makes it impossible to identify what’s inside, much less retrieve the item you need. Or, they can buy this book and do it themselves for a fraction of the cost. Today, virtually all the materials and hardware used by custom closet fabricators is available to consumers on the racks of home centers and hardware stores. WikiLeaks: Inside Julian Assange's War on Secrecy (Audiobook) English | 2011 | ISBN: 1441793046 | MP3 | 359 MB A team of journalists with unparalleled inside access provides the first full, in-depth account of WikiLeaks, its founder Julian Assange, and the ethical, legal, and political controversies it has both uncovered and provoked. The extraordinary twists and turns of WikiLeaks have been closely followed by the Guardian newspaper ever since the website launched in 2006, and Guardian journalists have had unprecedented access to all the major players, from angry and embarrassed politicians and diplomats to the extraordinary figure of Julian Assange himself. At different times Assange hid at David Leigh's homes. Here they reveal the many strands -- legal, ethical, security related -- of a story that continues to dominate world headlines. They look at the Internet culture and technology that made the mining of secret information possible and at the fanatical hackers who set up WikiLeaks. They explore the secret goings-on that WikiLeaks has uncovered, from the revelation of extrajudicial killings in Kenya in 2008 to the avalanche of US diplomatic cables in 2010. They study the implications of the latest revelations and reveal the strange and contradictory nature of Assange himself: a man praised by Amnesty International in 2009 but also, barely a year later, accused by Swedish police of sex crimes. The WikiLeaks story has received worldwide attention and reaction. WikiLeaks: Inside Julian Assange's War on Secrecy presents the whole history of the organization and the ethical debate that surrounded the use of its material, plus the inside story of the personalities that created then threatened to destroy the website that has changed our view of secrecy forever.
