Circle of Lies Can't wait to the next one comes out! I really recommend this book, this book picks up were pack of lies end we are introduced to new characters! And the end just leaves you wanting the next!
Dahlia For seventeen-year-old Dahlia Winters, this is her truth. Her coping mechanism is to simply forget and deny the strangeness that is her life. Orphaned, her past remains a mystery. Now residing with a foster family, she finally feels normal or attempts to. Yet, dreams continue to torment her. Not only consumed by visions of miraculously healing wounds, but of a lust for something she should never naturally crave.
Darkness Rising
I found Darkness Rising to be a riveting, skillfully written read, quickly absorbing me into the chilling world of East Salem. I loved the blend of hidden mysteries, supernatural suspense, and the ties to historical events. The writing is taut and fast-paced, and truly made it hard for me to be able to close the book for any length of time and tend to the world around me. I'm really enjoying the relationship continuing to unfold between Dani and Tommy, with just the right hint of romance that will appeal to a broad base of readers without being over the top. The dialogue is solid, moving the story forward while containing moments of humour that actually made me laugh out loud.
Dirt Dirt is the second of K F Ridley's books I have read, and she has yet to disappoint. She balances the right amount of in depth info with action, adventure, and just a little bit of a love story woven in. I like how she describes the love between two characters without going overboard with love scenes (I know it's a YA story, but some YA are too mushy).
Dirty Red Dirty Red is a rollercoaster, but a completely different ride then The Opportunist. Where The Opportunist was the Zipper... Dirty Red is The Teacups on crack. And Tarryn Fisher is the evil carnie giggling as she makes you spin out of control and then puke. You think you know where you're going, but in pure Tarryn Fisher style, you don't even know which end is up...

13 Drops of Blood I've read a few of Daley's books, and really enjoyed them, and Thirteen Drops of Blood continues his winning streak of articulately disturbing horror. Each story is a creepy little cameo a nasty slice of life that's described with so much eerie detail that they left me with a feeling of "yeah, it could happen" that made my skin crawl. I highly recommend this collection of fast, freaky stories.
Angel Among Us (Dead Detective Mysteries) Her stories always keep me riveted the characters are well developed and she makes you care about them as well as the ghost narrator. I only wish she could gradually make the main characters aware of the ghost or at least let him help in some way in solving the crime. Otherwise he is just a narrator and you don't really need him. There's always enough people that can see him or hear him and he could communicate through them if he would ever try. What's the use of having him a detective if he doesn't do anything but watch?
Avow Avow (The Archers of Avalon, #3) - What can I say that hasn't already been said about this trilogy? Well first off Chelsea Fine is a narrating genius! Her words are totally beguiling from page one your surroundings utterly fall away
and draw you into Scarlet's enchanting world. My mind was simply bewitched by the plot layering and sophisticated story-telling. This is top-notch YA fantasy at its very best. Get comfortable - pick a nice secluded spot to read because you'll be captivated by this novel for a long while. I'm so beyond words and so completely enraptured by this clever, imaginatively twisted fairy tale-esque story. The English language can hardly describe my feelings about this book and the rest in the trilogy. So instead I will try to construe my verbal feelings into two words: amazingly-marvelous!
Champion of the Rose: Darest Book 1 Hosth writes action well and she has created a world which is really original and complex, particularly in the sexual realm. She does not overly explain what is going on and you have to follow the novel closely to get all the nuances of the world she has created and emotions of the characters. Soren is a memorable and likeable character but she is also something of an outsider and observer in the palace politicking that goes on around her. The other important character is the Rose itself which exerts a sinister power over Soren. I would have liked a bit more action but was fascinated to know how the author would resolve all the strands in this book. I'm waitingto see what the next book is like!
15 Seconds The page-turner suspense thriller continues to involve the reader from the onset and doesn't let up as Gross unveils twist after twist of a fascinating plot. Even though some of the events may seem contrived, they never let up as Steadman gets more deeply involved with the case that takes him from Jacksonville, Florida, to the Carolinas and Georgia to prove his innocence.

A Beautiful Blue Death (Charles Lenox Mysteries) A Beautiful Blue Death is Charles Finch's delightful debut novel. The pairing of Lenox and Graham brings to mind Lord Peter Wimsey and his valet Bunter. Similar to Dorothy Sayer's creations, Lenox and Graham share more than a purely professional relationship. Despite the friendship and amity they feel for each other, the barriers of class keep them separated. What elevates A Beautiful Blue Death is the relationships Lenox has with the people around him. While the central mystery is fascinating, what captivates readers is the exploration of Lenox's relationship with Lady Jane and the glimpse it provides of a gentleman of leisure's life. Their habit of taking tea together illustrates the depth of their relationship, unusual for a time when men and women's lives had little intersection.
A Dyeing Shame: Death at the Beauty Box The book is well written and flows at a brisk pace. The characters are warm and developed well enough that you feel you know them, especially if you're from the south. You will cringe at Tammy and cheer for Myrtle and her sidekick Miles. You know from the beginning that Myrtle is going to get to the bottom of just who really killed bad Tammy and she does. Her manner of doing so had me smiling and laughing out loud at times. The southern setting of Bradley, NC just adds spice to the whole book.
A Home for Adam (A Short Story) Jonah Swedan wants his nephew, Adam, to live with him. His wife, Claire, doesn't. Can their marriage survive this major rift? A heart-warming story about second chances by national bestselling author Dara Girard.
A Land More Kind Than Home Often, Evil is found in the places you least expect it. Perhaps it is even harder to forgive and move forward when the evil that is done to you comes from such an unexpected source. I can say that I finished this book several days ago, but have been haunted by it ever since. I just can't seem to get it out of my mind. And I consider that to be a real compliment to the author. Love, evil, forgiveness, tragedy and great sadness, all in one. This heartbreaking and memorable story is told through three different people involved in different ways. First and foremost, Jess, so sweet and innocent, wanting only to protect his dear brother, Stump, who is mute. Another important voice is that of Clem, the town Sheriff with sad and unspeakable burdens of his own to bear, and Adelaide, the Midwife in the town. She knew some of what was going on, and tried her best to protect the town's children from the evil that hid behind righteous disguise. The pastor, Chambliss, is one of the most despicable characters I have ever read about.
A Quiet Vendetta It would be easy to pick holes in the novel, and I have to confess that it was quite a while before I realised how special it is, so it does require a little patience to get fully into it. Once there, however, once I was really inside the mind and soul of Ernesto Perez, I never wanted it to end. True, it's the kind of story I favour best in being built around the world
of the Mafia in their halcyon years, so I have to admit to being easily persuaded but then again it needs to have been written well and that it most certainly has been. But it is special, even among other Ellory novels, and without doubt it is one of the most engrossing books I have read in recent years. I am sorry to have finished it - you can't beat the first time, can you? - but it's one the very few books in my personal library that I know I will read again. It isn't about the destination, fascinating though that would prove to be, no - it is about the journey, the ruthlessly riveting world that was the life of Ernesto Perez. Unconditionally recommended.

Troy: Fall of Kings Troy: Fall of Kings was FANTASTIC! A real pager turner. I could not put the book down just like the first two books Troy:Lord of the Silver Bow and Troy:Shield of Thunder. David Gemmell and his wife Stella bring out the characters like Odysseus, Hector, Helikaon, Andromache, King Priam and King Agamemmon and a few others. This was just a GREAT trilogy. Who cares if not's quite hictorically accurate. If you want super accurate accounts of what really happened, go read a boring history book. I'm so sad that David Gemmell past on. He was such a great writer.
Family Album Alison works hardest at keeping unpleasantness at bay. It's more than sweeping things under the carpet. Alison will do almost anything to preserve her happy family.
And this family has one very big secret, known to all. "Not that there were conversations, exchanges, comments. No one has wished to discuss it if ever the facts of the matter seemed to smolder dangerously, there would be a concerted move to stamp out the embers, to move away, to find safe territory elsewhere." This secret comes out fairly early in the novel, the biggest among other, smaller crises that have been dealt with and set aside. With her sharp wit and sympathetic understanding of human nature, Lively explores the ways families conspire in their secrets, the way memories inform a life and each life makes different memories of the same experience, the way one "happy family" is eight individual people all sequestered inside their own heads, all striving after their own interests. For the reader Alison and Charles emerge as both repellant and sympathetic characters. To their children they remain, determinedly, enigmas. An absorbing, witty portrait of family in all its warts and warmth, Lively's latest will please her fans with its sharp characterizations and absorbing narrative path.
Fanged & Fabulous Rowen keeps the book moving along quickly. Her wry humor is a lot like Davidsons, and readers of both series may enjoy the resonance between the books or be disturbed by it, but she's definitely one to read as the vampire romance novels start getting a bit long in the tooth. (Sorry. Compulsive.) The plot circles a little bit before striking out into new territory, but the scenery is pleasant and the company is good. FANGED & FABULOUS is only Rowen's third novel, so she's entitled to spend some time sharpening her craft. However, she's off to an outstanding start and I'm eagerly awaiting her next books.
Gone, But Not Forgotten Margolin does an excellent job of combining the legal thriller with the suspense thriller. You feel that Margolin stands on his own and doesn't become an imitation of other popular authors. If you are like me you have probably read all too many books that center around serial killings. You may feel that it's been written way too many times. Don't let any sentiment like that deter you from reading this book. Margolin does a very good job of portraying his characters and keeps you entertained throughout. The rewarding thing about this book is that it has a different twist to the killer concept. If you are a fan of Grisham or Cornwell you should like this book, so give it a try.
Good Book: The Bizarre, Hilarious, Disturbing, Marvelous, and Inspiring Things I Learned When I Read Every Single Word of the Bible The Bible has of late been so mired in conversations about who's got it right and who's got it wrong that regular people who don't have a stake in the culture wars may have forgotten what a revelation it is to read. It's fun. It's inexplicable. It's dramatic. It's bloody and violent. Though I don't agree on some of the author's interpretation, reading the "The Good Book" made me in complet agreement with Plotz, "The worst thing to do with a Bible," he says, "is to leave it on the shelf, thinking that someone else may have a better or smarter idea about it. The best thing? Read it. After reading, ask questions, argue and talk." "The Good Book" is all about you and the bible.

Good Girls Do This is a fun contemporary romance in which Julia has never felt comfortable with the antics of her mom and sis, and now her four year old niece who is an expert on vaginas and lets everyone know it. Though Julia and Luke are the stars, the ensemble support cast enhances the tale with their escapades that aggravate the heroine and amuse (for the most part) her beloved. Though mom's secret seems anticlimactic, fans of You Can't Take It With You like romantic romps will enjoy this funny family tale.
Great Sky River Great Sky River is a tale of survival for a small group of humans who use tremendously advanced technology to survive in a location where humanity was perhaps not engineered to exist - the center of the galaxy. All throughout the series, there is this oppressing weight that the sky is falling (which it is) as a vast machine empire has crushed humanity everytime that humanity has started to stand up and become a threat/challenger to the machines but the machines are never able to eliminate humanity, some always remain - and this is the story of one group of people who literally fight for survival.
Green Eyes Never having heard of Lucius Shepard, I bought a used paperback copy of "Green Eyes" on the strength of its unusual back-cover plot synopsis and the fact that it could be had for 50 cents...a somewhat ordinary procedure of mine for reasons I'll not go into. In other words, I approached this novel with very little in the way of expectations and, perhaps for that very reason, was simply amazed at my good fortune. This story, itself one that does not easily fit into any genre niche, is without a doubt one of the two or three most poignant modern novels this reader has ever had the pleasure of encountering...made "Papa Kurt"(Vonnegut) sound tired and blase'. Embued with vivid, striking imagery...plot turns impossible to forsee, yet satisfyingly logical...complex in its multilayerings, but as smooth as a luminous egg...an absolutely staggering ending, very hard to describe. I finished the book feeling awed and humbled. Snippets of dialogue, fantastic scenes, emotional depths, these and more swirled through my mind for weeks afterword. If Lucius Shepard's powers were not yet fully matured when he wrote this, I daresay he may write THE best fantastic story of our generation.
Green Lake (Escapement) makes a shift from steampunk to lush fantasy filled with exotic locales and exquisite descriptions. Sold as a child, raised and educated as a courtesan and secretly trained as an assassin, strong-willed Green retains her unyielding sense of independence, leading her to make drastic, unwise choices. Often used as a pawn and occasionally betrayed, she perseveres in trying to gain a measure of control over her life and a place to call home. Her goals become harder to reach when she's caught up in the machinations of immortals and power games of meddling gods. Despite an occasionally episodic feel and some rocky pacing that suggests it might have worked better split over several installments, the story is nicely powered by strong mythic undertones and a fresh take on the relationship between gods and mortals.
Gregor and the Code of Claw Despite the fact that this book doesn't end happily, (the Underlanders' farewells were much too short for me) it has given us our share of good memories. How many books will ever make us feel affection for a roach or a mouse or a giant, sarcastic talking rat, for heavens' sake? How many times have we found ourselves thinking about ways the Underland could actually exist? Who can forget Ares saving Gregor in book one, Gregor's first prophecy, the evermisleading Prophecy of Bane, Luxa's Coiler to escape from the spinners, Hamnet's relationship with Solovet, the cutters destroying the starshade and all hope being lost before Temp thought to say, "Not the cradle, unless this be, not the cradle," Hades Hall, the killing of the nibblers, Luxa and Gregor falling in love, and pretty much every single one of Ripred's lines who can forget how much pleasure, bittersweet as it sometimes was, that we all got from these books?

Gregor And The Curse Of The Warmbloods The writing continues to improve with each book, as does the pacing and the character development. As Gregor matures, so does the text. He's twelve now, at the end of this story. Twelve fast going on thirty, and while you're sad for him, it's what has to happen, and what will undoubtedly get him through whatever comes next in the Underland.
Gregor And The Marks Of Secret Suzanne Collins does a fabulous job of recapturing the underland in her fourth installment of the series. This book is an amazing novel for those that love adventure stories, and it keeps you reading because it's so exciting!
Gregor and the Prophecy of Bane This book was by far one of the best books I have read in the past few years. Why you ask, because of the story's richness in creativity. The way Ms. Collins wrote this wonderful tale of adventure, sibling love, and fantasy made it actually seem as if you were in the underland. If Harry Potter made you question if magic really exisited, "Gregor and the Prophesy of Bane" will make you want to get out of where ever you are go to New York with the fastest form of transportation possible and search for hours just to find the portal from reality to a whole new world. I absolutely love this book!
Gregor The Overlander This book is dark at times, and may be a bit scary for younger readers, but most young teen and preteen readers who enjoy quest fantasy will likely enjoy it. Older readers may find the characters a bit too young for their interest -this is definitely not a universal read, but it works well for its age group. Readers who enjoy this will want to go on to read GREGOR AND THE PROPHECY OF THE BANE, which is the next book in the series. Other types of books these readers may enjoy will be THE DARK IS RISING sequence by Susan Cooper and SO YOU WANT TO BE A WIZARD by Diane Duane.

Grimoire Diabolique If You like Any of Edward Lee's work, then you will like This collection of short stories. They are all nice and twisted and some are just plain disgusting... not a collection for the faint of heart, but if your into hardcore horror, check out this collection..
Guardians of the Phoenix The story itself is relatively straight-forward, with no major surprises. It's the character development and the breathtaking descriptions of a dead future Europe that made me bump this up from 3 to 4 stars. There are three main viewpoint characters: Paul, a young man raised by an old woman in the ruins of Paris, with no other human contact until he's captured by a group of traveling cannibals Samara, the new leader of a struggling colony in the south of France and Dan, a co-leader of a similar colony in Copenhagen. These three are slowly entangled in each other's schemes by their search for salvation - for themselves, and for their people. The brilliance in this story is not the almost retro-post-apocalyptic plot, but in the way that Brown builds each set of characters to illustrate humanity's will to survive. On one side you have a group determined to hold on to their humanity - to be merciful and compassionate in the face of a world where there is no law and order, just drifting sand and death. On the other side you have a group no less determined to survive, but at the cost of what ultimately makes them human.
Billy Christmas
When Billy’s father mysteriously disappears and his mother responds by becoming more and more reclusive, Billy maintains hope that his father’s absence is not by choice—despite the rumors and taunts of his classmates who believe otherwise. Twelve days before Christmas, Billy acquires a magical tree with a dozen ornaments, each of which holds a clue to finding his father. In order to do so, however, Billy must solve one puzzle each day, so he enlists the help of his best friend Katherine, not realizing that in doing so, he has placed them both in grave danger. The forces of evil that have captured Billy’s father are revealed to be manifest in the landscape of their very own small hometown outside of Oxford, England, as well as in some of its seemingly benign inhabitants. A beautifully woven narrative with rich, compelling characters, this novel is sure to strike a chord with any fan of fantasy literature.

Fifty Shades of Jungle Fever FIFTY SHADES OF GREY to the second power meets Keisha and Jada from the Block. If you've wondered how an ethnic girl from the hood might've handled an arrangement with an experienced white Dominant, this is your book. If you'd like to see the sexiest TWIN DOMS in a contemporary romance series in interracial relationships, this is most definitely your book. Aspiring recording studio owners, Keisha Beale and Jada Jameson, score a rare meeting with venture capitalist Tristan White, and are thrust into a world beyond their wildest imaginations. Street-wise Keisha is startled to realize she wants this rich white man, despite the certainty that he is out of her league. Unable to resist Keisha's sassy, irreverent, and fiercely independent spirit, Tristan knew from day one he wanted her, too as his first African American submissive. Upper Class Jada of the Springfield Jamesons has traveled in almost the same circles as the White brothers, and has had a secret crush on Nathan White, the point guard for the Chicago Bulls, for quite some time. Both brothers have succumbed to jungle fever, and want a little coffee in their cream. Lured by Tristan White and his offer of fronting the capital for her business in exchange for kinky sex, Keisha finds herself with no other option. Keisha is also tortured by a demons from her past, and her inability to come to terms with them threatens to undermine the future of her business and her tumultuous, unconventional relationship with Tristan White. The Book of Secrets: Unlocking the Hidden Dimensions of Your Life Published: 2005-09-27 | ISBN: 1400098343 | PDF | 270 pages | 6 MB We all want to know how to find a soul mate, what career would be most fulfilling, how to live a life with meaning, and how to teach our children well. We are looking for a personal breakthrough, a turning point, a revelation that brings with it new meaning. The Book of Secrets--a crystalline distillation of insights and wisdom accumulated over the lifetime of one of the great spiritual thinkers of our time--provides an exquisite new tool for achieving just that. Every life is a book of secrets, ready to be opened. The secret of perfect love is found there, along with the secrets of healing, compassion, faith, and the most elusive one of all: who we really are. We are still mysteries to ourselves, despite the proximity of these answers, and what we most long to know remains lodged deep inside. Because answers to the questions at the center of life are counterintuitive, they are often hidden from view, sequestered from our everyday gaze. In his ongoing quest to elevate our experience, bestselling author Deepak Chopra has isolated fifteen secrets that drive the narrative of this inspiring book--and of our lives. From "The World Is
in You" and "What You Seek, You Already Are" to "Evil Is Not Your Enemy" and "You Are Truly Free When You Are Not a Person," The Book of Secrets is rich with insights, a priceless treasure that can transport us beyond change to transformation, and from there to a sacred place where we can savor the nectar of enlightenment.
The Rise of the Fourth Reich: The Secret Societies That Threaten to Take Over America Published: 2008-07-29 | ISBN: 0061562661 | PDF | 720 pages | 3 MB Throw out everything you think you know about history. Close the approved textbooks, turn off the corporate mass media, and whatever you do, don't believe anything you hear from the government—The Rise of the Fourth Reich reveals the truth about American power. In this explosive new book, the legendary Jim Marrs, author of the underground bestseller Rule by Secrecy, reveals the frighteningly real possibility that today the United States is becoming the Fourth Reich, the continuation of an ideology thought to have been vanquished more than a half century ago. This concept may seem absurd to those who cannot see past the rose-colored spin, hype, and disinformation poured out daily by the media conglomerates—most of which are owned by the very same families and corporations who supported the Nazis before World War II. But as Marrs precisely explains, National Socialism never died, but rather its hideous philosophy is alive and active in modern America. Unfortunately, most people cannot understand the shadowy links between fascism and corporate power, the military, and our elected leaders. While the United States helped defeat the Germans in World War II, we failed to defeat the Nazis. At the end of the war, ranking Nazis, along with their young and fanatical protÉgÉs, used the loot of Europe to create corporate front companies in many countries, including the United States of America. Utilizing their stolen wealth, men with Nazi backgrounds and mentalities wormed their way into corporate America, slowly buying up and consolidating companies into giant multinational conglomerates. Many thousands of other Nazis came to the United States under classified programs such as Project Paperclip. They brought with them miraculous weapon technology that helped win the space race but they also brought their insidious Nazi philosophy within our borders. This ideology based on the authoritarian premise that the end justifies the means—including unprovoked wars of aggression and curtailment of individual liberties—has gained an iron hold in the "land of the free and the home of the brave." For the first time Jim Marrs has gathered compelling evidence that an effort has been underway for the past sixty years to bring a form of National Socialism to modern America, creating in essence a modern empire—or "Fourth Reich"!

The Doors: A Lifetime of Listening to Five Mean Years English | ISBN: 1586489453 | 2011 | EPUB/MOBI | 224 pages | 3 MB A fan from the moment the Doors’ first album took over KMPX, the revolutionary FM rock & roll station in San Francisco, Greil Marcus saw the band many times at the legendary Fillmore Auditorium and the Avalon Ballroom in 1967. Five years later it was all over. Forty years after the singer Jim Morrison was found dead in Paris and the group disbanded, one could drive from here to there, changing from one FM pop station to another, and be all but guaranteed to hear two, three, four Doors songs in an hour—every hour. Whatever the demands in the music, they remained unsatisfied, in the largest sense unfinished, and absolutely alive. There have been many books on the Doors. This is the first to bypass their myth, their mystique, and the death cult of both Jim Morrison and the era he was made to personify, and focus solely on the music. It is a story untold; all these years later, it is a new story.
Dancing in the Glory of Monsters: The Collapse of the Congo and the Great War of Africa English | 2011 | 400 Pages | ISBN: 1586489291 | EPUB | 2 MB At the heart of Africa is Congo, a country the size of Western Europe, bordering nine other nations, that since 1996 has been wracked by a brutal and unstaunchable war in which millions have died. And yet, despite its epic
proportions, it has received little sustained media attention. In this deeply reported book, Jason Stearns vividly tells the story of this misunderstood conflict through the experiences of those who engineered and perpetrated it. He depicts village pastors who survived massacres, the child soldier assassin of President Kabila, a female Hutu activist who relives the hunting and methodical extermination of fellow refugees, and key architects of the war that became as great a disaster as--and was a direct consequence of-the genocide in neighboring Rwanda. Through their stories, he tries to understand why such mass violence made sense, and why stability has been so elusive. Through their voices, and an astonishing wealth of knowledge and research, Stearns chronicles the political, social, and moral decay of the Congolese State.

Discovering the Mysteries of Ancient America: Lost History and Legends, Unearthed and Explored Published: 2005-12-01 | ISBN: 1564148424 | PDF | 287 pages | 3 MB The nursery rhyme begins, "In fourteen hundred and ninety two, Columbus sailed the ocean blue." Less well-known is the line that follows: "…to learn if the old maps were true." How can there be "old maps" of a land no one knew existed? Were others here before Columbus? What were their reasons for coming and what unexplained artifacts did they leave behind? The oceans were highways to America rather than barriers, and when discoverers put ashore, they were greeted by unusual inhabitants. In Discovering the Mysteries of Ancient America, the author of The Atlantis Encyclopedia turns his sextant towards this hemisphere. Here is a collection of the most controversial articles selected from seventy issues of the infamous Ancient American magazine. They range from the discovery of Roman relics in Arizona and California's Chinese treasure, to Viking rune-stones in Minnesota and Oklahoma and the mysterious religions of ancient Americans. Many questions will be raised including: What role did extraterrestrials have in the lives of ancient civilizations? What ancient pyramids and towers tell us about the people who built them? Are they some sort of portals to another dimension? What prehistoric technologies have been discovered, and what can they tell us about early settlers, their religious beliefs, and possible other-worldly visitors? Did El Dorado exist, and what of the legendary Fountain of Youth? Was Atlantis in Cuba? What are America’s lost races and what happened to them? Discovering the Mysteries of Ancient America brings to the fore the once-hidden true past of America’s earliest civilizations Frank Joseph is the author of The Atlantis Encyclopedia (New Page Books), as well as a dozen other books on history, prehistory, and metaphysics. He has been the editor-in-chief of Ancient American magazine since its first issue in 1993. He lives in Wisconsin. Wayne May is the founder-publisher of Ancient American. Laura Lee is the award-winning producer and host of the nationally syndicated "The Laura Lee Show". David Hatcher Childress wrote the best-selling Lost Cities series. PSI Spies: The True Story of America's Psychic Warfare Program Published: 2007-07-09 | ISBN: 1564149609 | PDF | 319 pages | 3 MB PSI Spies will take you behind the scenes of the U.S. Army’s formerly top-secret remote viewing unit to discover how the military has used this psychic ability as a tool, and a weapon. Despite the fact that remote viewing was developed by various tax-supported government agencies, including the CIA, the Defense Intelligence Agency, and even the U.S. Army, a majority of Americans still have never heard of this faculty. In the 1970s, with the support of Congress, the Army formed a small unit of remote viewers to spy for America. These soldiers/psychic spies gained penetrating knowledge about a wide variety of subjects. They were consulted to stop a Soviet plot to kill President Ronald Reagan. They mentally prowled the halls of the Kremlin. They probed Iraq’s hidden weapons sites in preparation for the 1991 Gulf War. From insights into our future to the continuing mysteries of UFOs and crop circles, no subject has been immune to the military remote viewers—America’s Psi Spies.

The Secret History of the Mongol Queens: How the Daughters of Genghis Khan Rescued His Empire 2010 | ISBN: 0307407152 | EPUB/MOBI | 317 pages | 4 MB The Mongol queens of the thirteenth century ruled the largest empire the world has ever known. Yet sometime near the end of the century, censors cut a section from The Secret History of the Mongols, leaving a single tantalizing quote from Genghis Khan: “Let us reward our female offspring.” Only this hint of a father’s legacy for his daughters remained of a much larger story. The queens of the Silk Route turned their father’s conquests into the world’s first truly international empire, fostering trade, education, and religion throughout their territories and creating an economic system that stretched from the Pacific to the Mediterranean. Outlandish stories of these powerful queens trickled out of the Empire, shocking the citizens of Europe and and the Islamic world. After Genghis Khan’s death in 1227, conflicts erupted between his daughters and his daughters-in-law; what began as a war between powerful women soon became a war against women in power as brother turned against sister, son against mother. At the end of this epic struggle, the dynasty of the Mongol queens had seemingly been extinguished forever, as even their names were erased from the historical record.. One of the most unusual and important warrior queens of history arose to avenge the wrongs, rescue the tattered shreds of the Mongol Empire, and restore order to a shattered world. Putting on her quiver and picking up her bow, Queen Mandhuhai led her soldiers through victory after victory. In her thirties she married a seventeen-year-old prince, and she bore eight children in the midst of a career spent fighting the Ming Dynasty of China on one side and a series of Muslim warlords on the other. Her unprecedented success on the battlefield provoked the Chinese into the most frantic and expensive phase of wall building in history. Charging into battle even while pregnant, she fought to reassemble the Mongol Nation of Genghis Khan and to preserve it for her own children to rule in peace. At the conclusion of his magnificently researched and ground-breaking narrative, Weatherford notes that, despite their mystery and the efforts to erase them from our collective memory, the deeds of these Mongol queens inspired great artists from Chaucer and Milton to Goethe and Puccini, and so their stories live on today. With The Secret History of the Mongol Queens, Jack Weatherford restores the queens’ missing chapter to the annals of history.
The Secret History of the American Empire 2008 | ISBN: 0452289572 | PDF | 384 pages | 3 MB A sweeping, bold assault on the tyranny of corporate globalization, full of drama and adventure, with devastating stories of greed run wild. But Perkins is undaunted, and offers imaginative ideas for a different world. Having made a splash with Confessions of an Economic Hit Man, Perkins offers similarly entertaining but disturbing accounts of the American government wreaking havoc around the world in support of American business. In Perkins's view, American presidents willingly comply with their CEO masters, distributing foreign aid to corrupt Third World leaders who keep a share and return the rest to U.S. business for major projects, leaving their nations poor and massively in debt, and requiring more loans and slavish obedience to U.S. policy. If any leader objects, the CIA destabilizes his government, by assassination if necessary. Gathering evidence is not Perkins's strong suit. Typically, a shadowy figure pulls him aside, insists on anonymity, then reveals all. Critics will rightfully accuse Perkins of dreadful journalism and a taste for conspiracy theories. Yet economists admit that loans and "expert advice" to poor nations are often harmful. Few deny that America has ruthlessly undermined uncooperative governments and supported dictators including Saddam Hussein. Perkins's assertions that the U.S. assassinated Ecuador's reformist president and connived at genocide in Timor and Sudan are not absurd, merely unproven. This book's greatest value may be to encourage a competent journalist to cover the same ground.
The Secret History of the Iraq War 2005 | ISBN-10: 0060783826, 0060736801 | PDF | 576 pages | 3 MB Had it not been for the bravery, commitment, professionalism, and resilience of America's fighting forces, the United States would have suffered an embarrassing debacle in its war against Saddam Hussein's regime. His Iraq was a
developing country emaciated by a previous destructive war, a decade of debilitating sanctions, and popular discontent. This kind of war, which found a uniquely mighty superpower embroiled in the Middle Eastern quicksand, need not have happened. There is no doubt that America had a viable, urgent imperative to go to war against Iraq when it did. The primary reason was the ongoing cooperation between Saddam Hussein's intelligence services and Osama bin Laden's terrorists, which began in earnest in the early 1990s when the ji-hadist forces in Somalia, under the command of Ayman al-Zawahiri, received extensive military assistance from the Iraqis via Sudan. That alliance was solidified in 1998-99, as Saddam and bin Laden realized that they needed each other's resources in order to confront the United States. Moreover, Iraq (working in conjunction with Yasser Arafat) had resolved to throw the Middle East into chaos— a move that threatened to imperil the vital interests of America and its allies. The war Saddam Hussein contemplated, which included the use of weapons of mass destruction, would have caused inestimable damage to the global economy by disrupting energy supplies from the Persian Gulf.
The Secret History of Lucifer: And the Meaning of the True Da Vinci Code 2005 | ISBN-10: 0786717610, 1841199389, 1845292634 | EPUB, MOBI | 288 pages | 4 MB Who is Lucifer? The orthodox Christian view tells us that he challenged God, fell from Heaven, tempted Eve and created death and suffering. Then he became Satan, horned king of Hell. Yet as Lynn Picknett explains, Devil was only a new incarnation of the old woodland deity Pan, while Lucifer was a personification of the Morning Star, the planet Venus and its goddess. 'He' was therefore originally 'she', and a divine representation of love, beauty and human warmth. Indeed, many ancient goddesses were known as Lucifera, or 'Light-bringer' - an honour extended to Mary Magdalene in her true role as goddess-worshipping priestess and Christ's successor. While thousands follow Lucifer in order to achieve earthly wealth and power; Picknett explains that such misguided behaviour is far from true Luciferan principles - the audacious pushing ever outwards of the limits of human knowledge, startlingly exemplified by the little-known heresies of Leonardo da Vinci. Ironically, controversial modern scientists, who see no proof of a God, much less of a Devil, may possess the key to the existence of the old archetypal adversaries. Urging a radical shift in both religious and scientific paradigms, Picknett draws together ancient heretical Christian and Egyptological texts, and the implications of abnormal psychology and the 'extreme possibilities' of certain barely-understood human attributes, to pose the extraordinary question: 'Have we humans actually created God and Lucifer, not merely as icons or metaphors, but in a terrifying way, literally?'

One More River to Cross 2012 | ISBN-10: 1459701534 | EPUB | 200 pages | 3 MB In the early to mid-nineteenth century, Isaac Brown, a slave, was accused of the attempted murder of a prominent plantation owner, despite there being no evidence of his guilt. Brown, after enduring two brutal floggings, was shipped to a New Orleans slave pen. From there the resourceful Brown was able to make a daring escape to Philadelphia in the free state of Pennsylvania. His biggest error was writing a note informing his free wife and eleven children in Maryland of his whereabouts. The note was intercepted and led to his arrest and attempted extradition back to Maryland. While engaged in researching an ancestor named Isaac Brown, Bryan Prince encountered the very high-profile case of what turned out to be a different Isaac Brown. The story of this slave, with its culmination in Brown's dramatic escape and ultimate success in crossing the border into Canada, is the riveting subject of historian Bryan Prince's latest book.

Werwolf! The History of the National Socialist Guerrilla Movement, 1944-1946 1998 | 464 Pages | ISBN: 0802008623 | PDF | 30 MB
Near the end of the Second World War, a National Socialist resistance movement, known as the Werwolf, flickered briefly to life in Germany and its borderlands. Dedicated to delaying the advance of the Allies on both fronts, the Werwolf succeeded in scattered acts of sabotage and violence. By the spring of 1945, it also showed signs of becoming a vengeful Nazi reaction against the German populace itself. 'Collaborators' and 'defeatists' were frequently assassinated, and crude posters warned that certain death would follow any failure to resist the enemy. Werwolf violence failed to mobilize a spirit of national resistance. Biddiscombe argues that the group was poorly led, armed, and organized, and that it was doomed to failure given the war-weariness of the populace and the hesitancy of young Germans to sacrifice themselves on the funeral pyre of the regime. He also demonstrates that although the group failed to assume a popular character, its influence was still great and its revolutionary sentiments would have grave implications for the future. Werwolf! is the most complete history to date of the Nazi partisan movement. It will be of great interest to general readers as well as to military historians.

Grunts: Inside the American Infantry Combat Experience, World War II Through Iraq ISBN: 0451227905 | 2010 | EPUB/MOBI | 528 pages | 4 MB
The author of the fine history of the 7th Infantry Regiment returns with another demonstration of his skill at narrating infantry combat. He offers a historical retrospective, contrasting different types of battle in which American “grunts” have been engaged. We have the easy victory on Guam in 1944, against poorly-organized Japanese, and the bloody slugging match against dug-in Japanese on Peleliu. The battle for the German city of Aachen in 1944 features the free and decisive use of superior American firepower, while more recently in Falujah, Iraq political constraints added to our casualties. Similarly, the Marine Combined Action Platoons are contrasted with larger and often less-effective operations. The book is clearly intended as an argument for a strong presence of well-trained infantry operating “up close and personal” with heavier firepower available as support but not substitute. Both readable and persuasive.

This is an epic of adventure, ingenuity, courage, and disaster beneath the sea, a story filled with unforgettable characters who engineered daring missions to tap the enemy's underwater communications cables and to shadow Soviet submarines. The Ghost Mountain Boys: Their Epic March and the Terrifying Battle for New Guinea -The Forgotten War of the South Pacific ISBN: 0307335976 | 2008 | EPUB | 400 pages | 788 KB A harrowing portrait of a largely forgotten campaign that pushed one battalion to the limits of human suffering. Despite their lack of jungle training, the 32nd Division’s “Ghost Mountain Boys” were assigned the most grueling mission of the entire Pacific campaign in World War II: to march over the 10,000-foot Owen Stanley Mountains to protect the right flank of the Australian army during the battle for New Guinea. Reminiscent of the classics like Band of Brothers and The Things They Carried, The Ghost Mountain Boys is part war diary, part extreme-adventure tale, and—through letters, journals, and interviews—part biography of a group of men who fought to survive in an environment every bit as fierce as the enemy they faced. Theirs is one of the great untold stories of the war. “Superb.” —Chicago Sun-Times “Campbell started out with history, but in the end he has written a tale of survival and courage of near-mythic proportions.” —America in WWII magazine “In this compelling and sprightly written account, Campbell shines a long-overdue light on the equally deserving heroes of the Red Arrow Division.”
Inside the Klavern: The Secret History of a Ku Klux Klan of the 1920s
English | 1999 | ISBN-10: 080932248X, 0809322471 | EPUB | 192 pages | 0,5 MB Inside the Klavern is an annotated collection of the minutes of a thriving Ku Klux Klan in La Grande, Oregon, between 1922 and 1924. The most complete set of Klan minutes ever uncovered, these documents illustrate the inner workings of a Klan chapter of more than three hundred members at a time when the national membership reached into the millions and the Invisible Empire was at the peak of its power. Through an extensive introduction and conclusion as well as brief notes previewing each installment of the minutes, David A. Horowitz places these unique documents in historical perspective. The La Grande minutes demonstrate Klan hostility to Roman Catholics, Jews, blacks, and "hyphenated" Americans. But they also explain how the chapter exercised requirements for admission, how officers were selected, and how Klansmen encountered difficulties enforcing the moral standards of their order. Because the Klan kligrapp (recording secretary) Harold R. Fosner recorded not only the official proceedings but also volunteered extemporaneous comments and gossip, readers get a genuine feeling for what it was like to attend the meetings. Through his own obvious excitement and commitment to the cause, Fosner re-creates the flavor, tone, and atmosphere of these meetings: "Tis beyond my power of expression to relate the harmony and fellowship which reigned supreme. . . . Suffice to say that these were the golden moments of our lives." His evaluation of Klan propaganda, too, is telling: "The weekly newsletter from Atlanta, Georgia, contained a little book, the official message of our emperor, one Col. William Joseph Simmons, read before the most noble band of men ever assembled and for the noblest cause in the world. To my firm belief this book is the leading masterpiece of our day and age." Horowitz concludes that "although it is tempting to judge Jazz Age Klansmen by the standards of later generations, the story provided by the minutes is a complex one—a chronicle of both compassion and complicity in cruelty, of positive social accomplishment and arbitrary and dysfunctional divisiveness."

The Lives They Left Behind: Suitcases from a State Hospital Attic English | ISBN: 1934137146 | 2009 | EPUB/MOBI | 205 pages | 9 MB “The Lives They Left Behind is a deeply moving testament to the human side of mental illness, and of the narrow margin which so often separates the sane from the mad. It is a remarkable portrait, too, of the life of a psychiatric asylum--the sort of community in which, for better and for worse, hundreds of thousands of people lived out their lives. Darby Penney and Peter Stastny's careful historical (almost archaeological) and biographical reconstructions give us unique insight into these lives which would otherwise be lost and, indeed, unimaginable to the rest of us.”—Oliver Sacks, M.D., Professor of Neurology and Psychiatry, Columbia University Medical Center, Columbia University Artist, and author of Musicophilia “The haunting thing about the suitcase owners is that it’s so easy to identify with them.”—Newsweek “In their poignant detail the items helped rescue these individuals from the dark sprawl of anonymity.”—The New York Times “[The authors] spent 10 years piecing together . . . the lives these patients lived before they were nightmarishly stripped of their identities.”—Newsday More than four hundred abandoned suitcases filled with patients’ belongings were found when Willard Psychiatric Center closed in 1995 after 125 years of operation. They are skillfully examined here and compared to the written record to create a moving—and devastating—group portrait of twentieth-century American psychiatric care.

The US Army's First, Last, And Only All-black Rangers: The 2d Ranger Infantry Company (Airborne) in the Korean War, 1950-1951 English | ISBN: 1932714456 | 2009 | EPUB/MOBI | 336 pages | 7 MB The 2nd Ranger Infantry Company (Airborne) was the first and only all-black Ranger unit in the history of the United States Army. The company's life span covered ten months, from selection and training through a seven-month combat deployment in Korea, after which the unit was deactivated. The 2nd and 4th Rangers were among the units initially assigned to the Eighth Army and were considered to be "combat ready." The 2nd Ranger Company battled North Korean and Communist Chinese Forces near Tangyang, Majori-ri, and Chechon. The 2nd Ranger Company conducted the first airborne assault in Ranger history near the town of Munsanni and executed the heroic attack and defense of Hill 581. The men of the 2nd Ranger Company demonstrated courage, served with honor, and achieved a magnificent combat record. Edward Posey's The US Army's First, Last, and Only All-Black Rangers: The 2nd Ranger Infantry Company (Airborne) in the Korea War, 1950-1951 is the first complete history of this elite all-volunteer unit whose members were drawn from the 3rd Battalion of the 505th Airborne Infantry Regiment and the 80th Airborne Anti-Aircraft Battalion. As a member of the unit, Posey bases his account on firsthand experience, official records, interviews with survivors, and other material to produce a rich and worthy addition to the growing literature on the Korean War. Posey's study explains the obstacles these patriotic men faced, their sacrifices, and their courageous actions on the far side of the world. Finally, more than fifty years after the end of the war, the world will learn the true story of the United States Army's first, only, and last all-black Ranger unit.
The Ultimate Happiness Prescription: 7 Keys to Joy and Enlightenment ISBN: 0307589714 | 2009 | EPUB | 144 pages | 2 MB Happiness is something everyone desires. Yet how to find happiness–or even if we deserve to–remains a mystery. Still more mysterious is the secret to a lasting happiness that cannot be taken away. In The Ultimate Happiness Prescription, bestselling author Deepak Chopra shows us seven keys to uncover the true secrets of joy in the most difficult times. The goal of life is the expansion of happiness, he contends. But in today’s demanding world, that goal seems elusive, if not impossibly out of reach. Society reinforces the belief that fulfillment comes from achieving success, wealth, and good relationships. Yet Chopra tells us that the opposite is true: all success in life is the by-product of happiness, not the cause. So what is the cause? The Ultimate Happiness Prescription shares spiritual principles for a life based on a sense of your “true self” lying beyond the ebb and flow of daily living. Simple daily exercises lead to eliminating the root causes of unhappiness and letting a deeper level of bliss unfold. After all avenues to happiness have been explored and exhausted, only one path is left: the journey to enlightenment. In The Ultimate Happiness Prescription, the daunting and exotic challenge of finding enlightenment becomes accessible step by step. We are taken on an inspiring journey to the true self, the only place untouched by trouble and misfortune. On the way we learn the secrets for living mindfully and with effortless spontaneity. Now happiness is no longer hostage to external events but an experience we carry with us always. As Chopra inspiringly concludes, “Everything we fear in the world and want to change can be transformed through happiness, the simplest desire we have, and also the most profound.”

The Last Theorem (Audiobook) English | 2008 | ISBN: 1415959706 | 12 hours and 36 minutes | M4B | 224 MB The Last Theorem is a story of one man's mathematical obsession, and a celebration of the human spirit and the scientific method. It is also a gripping intellectual thriller in which humanity, facing extermination from all-butomnipotent aliens, the Grand Galactics, must overcome differences of politics and religion and come together or perish. In 1637, the French mathematician Pierre de Fermat scrawled a note in the margin of a book about an enigmatic theorem. He also neglected to record his proof elsewhere. Thus began a search for the Holy Grail of mathematics, a search that didn't end until 1994, when Andrew Wiles published a 150-page proof. But the proof was burdensome, overlong, and utilized mathematical techniques undreamed of in Fermat's time, and so it left many critics unsatisfied, including young Ranjit Subramanian, a Sri Lankan with a special gift for mathematics and a passion for the famous "Last Theorem". When Ranjit writes a three-page proof of the theorem that relies exclusively on knowledge available to Fermat, his achievement is hailed as a work of genius, bringing him fame and fortune. But it also brings him to the attention of the National Security Agency and a shadowy United Nations outfit called Pax per Fidem, or Peace Through Transparency, whose secretive workings belie its name. Suddenly Ranjit and his wife, Myra de Soyza, an expert in
artificial intelligence, find themselves swept up in world-shaking events, his genius for abstract mathematical thought put to uses that are both concrete and potentially deadly. Meanwhile, unbeknownst to anyone on Earth, an alien fleet is approaching the planet at a significant percentage of the speed of light. Their mission: to exterminate the dangerous species of primates known as homo sapiens.
The Amityville Horror (Audiobook) English | 2010 | ISBN: 1441727159 | 6 hours and 27 minutes | MP3 | 267 MB In December 1975, the Lutz family moved into their new home on suburban Long Island. George and Kathleen Lutz knew that, one year earlier, Ronald DeFeo had murdered his parents, brothers, and sisters in that house. But the property, complete with boathouse and swimming pool, and the price were too good to pass up. Twenty-eight days later, the entire Lutz family fled in terror. This is the spellbinding, best-selling true story that gripped the nation, the story of a house possessed by evil spirits, haunted by psychic phenomena almost too terrible to describe.

Diary: A Novel (Audiobook) English | 2003 | ISBN: 0739302841 | 7 hours and 47 minutes | M4B | 160 MB “CAN YOU FEEL THIS?” Chuck Palahniuk, the bestselling author of Fight Club, Choke, and Lullaby continues his twenty-first-century reinvention of the horror novel in this scary and profound look at our quest for some sort of immortality. Diary takes the form of a “coma diary” kept by one Misty Tracy Wilmot as her husband lies senseless in a hospital after a suicide attempt. Once she was an art student dreaming of creativity and freedom; now, after marrying Peter at school and being brought back to once quaint, now tourist-overrun Waytansea Island, she’s been reduced to the condition of a resort hotel maid. Peter, it turns out, has been hiding rooms in houses he’s remodeled and scrawling vile messages all over the walls—an old habit of builders but dramatically overdone in Peter’s case. Angry homeowners are suing left and right, and Misty’s dreams of artistic greatness are in ashes. But then, as if possessed by the spirit of Maura Kinkaid, a fabled Waytansea artist of the nineteenth century, Misty begins painting again, compulsively. But can her newly discovered talent be part of a larger, darker plan? Of course it can … Diary is a dark, hilarious, and poignant act of storytelling from America’s favorite, most inventive nihilist. It is Chuck Palahniuk’s finest novel yet.
City of Thieves: A Novel (Audiobook) English | 2008 | ISBN: 0143143476 | 8 hours and 29 minutes | M4B | 150 MB A writer visits his retired grandparents in Florida to document their experience during the infamous siege of Leningrad. His grandmother won't talk about it, but his grandfather reluctantly consents. The result is the captivating odyssey of two young men trying to survive against desperate odds. Lev Beniov considers himself "built for deprivation." He's
small, smart, and insecure, a Jewish virgin too young for the army, who spends his nights working as a volunteer firefighter with friends from his building. When a dead German paratrooper lands in his street, Lev is caught looting the body and dragged to jail, fearing for his life. He shares his cell with the charismatic and grandiose Kolya, a handsome young soldier arrested on desertion charges. Instead of the standard bullet in the back of the head, Lev and Kolya are given a shot at saving their own lives by complying with an outrageous directive: secure a dozen eggs for a powerful colonel to use in his daughter's wedding cake. In a city cut off from all supplies and suffering unbelievable deprivation, Lev and Kolya embark on a hunt to find the impossible. A search that takes them through the dire lawlessness of Leningrad and the devastated surrounding countryside creates an unlikely bond between this earnest, lust-filled teenager and an endearing lothario with the gifts of a conman. Set within the monumental events of history, City of Thieves is an intimate coming-of-age tale with an utterly contemporary feel for how boys become men.
Against A Dark Background (Audiobook) English | 2009 | CD ISBN: n/a; paper ISBN: 0316036374 | MP3 | 250 MB Sharrow was once the leader of a personality-attuned combat team in one of the sporadic little commercial wars in the civilization based around the planet Golter. Now she is hunted by the Huhsz, a religious cult which believes that she is the last obstacle before the faith's apotheosis, and her only hope of escape is to find the last of the apocalyptically powerful Lazy Guns before the Huhsz find her. Her journey through the exotic Golterian system is a destructive and savage odyssey into her past, and that of her family and of the system itself.

Faith (Audiobook) English | 2012 | ISBN: n/a | ASIN: B00AM87QA2 | 15 hours and 40 minutes | M4B | 411 MB Faith is the name humanity has given to the unknown, seemingly invincible alien ship that has begun to harass the newly emergent Commonwealth. Three hundred years earlier, the same ship destroyed the Sakhran Empire, allowing the Commonwealth to expand its sphere of influence. But now Faith has returned! The ship is as devastating as before, and its attacks leave some Commonwealth solar systems in chaos. Eventually it reaches Sakhra, now an important Commonwealth possession, and it seems like history is about to repeat itself. But this time, something is waiting: an Outsider, one of the Commonwealth's ultimate warships. Slender silver ships, full of functionality and crewed by people of unusual abilities, often sociopaths or psychopaths, Outsiders were conceived in back alleys, built and launched in secret, and commissioned without ceremony. One system away from Earth, the Outsider ship, Charles Manson, makes a stand. Commander Foord waits with his crew of miscreants and sociopaths, hoping to accomplish what no other human has been able to do - to destroy Faith!

Cycles of Time: An Extraordinary New View of the Universe (Audiobook) Unabridged edition 2011 | 7 hours and 22 | ISBN: 0307933172 | M4A 83 kbps | 261 MB From the best-selling author of The Emperor’s New Mind and The Road to Reality, a groundbreaking book that provides new views on three of cosmology’s most profound questions: What, if anything, came before the Big Bang? What is the source of order in our universe? What is its ultimate future? Current understanding of our universe dictates that all matter will eventually thin out to zero density, with huge black holes finally evaporating away into massless energy. Roger Penrose—one of the most innovative mathematicians of our time—turns around this predominant picture of the universe’s “heat death,” arguing how the expected ultimate fate of our accelerating, expanding universe can actually be reinterpreted as the “Big Bang” of a new one. Along the way to this remarkable cosmological picture, Penrose sheds new light on basic principles that underlie the behavior of our universe, describing various standard and nonstandard cosmological models, the fundamental role of the cosmic microwave background, and the key status of black holes. Ideal for both the amateur astronomer and the advanced physicist—with plenty of exciting insights for each—Cycles of Time is certain to provoke and challenge. Intellectually thrilling and accessible, this is another essential guide to the universe from one of our preeminent thinkers.
The Lost Empire of Atlantis: History's Greatest Mystery Revealed 2011 | ISBN-10: 0062049488 | EPUB | 400 pages | 49 MB The astonishing true story of Atlantis In 1500 B.C. a supervolcano beneath the Greek island of Santorini exploded in a near-apocalyptic eruption. Buried beneath the rubble and waves was the world’s most remarkable lost civilization. . . . New York Times bestselling historian Gavin Menzies presents newly uncovered evidence revealing, conclusively, that “the lost city of Atlantis” was not only real but also at the heart of a highly advanced global empire that reached the shores of America before being violently wiped from the earth. For three millennia, the legend of Atlantis has gripped the imaginations of explorers, philosophers, occultists, treasure hunters, historians, and archaeologists. Until now, it has remained shrouded in myth. Yet, like ancient Troy, is it possible that this fabled city actually existed? If so, what happened to it and what are its secrets? The fascinating reality of Atlantis’s epic glory and destruction are uncovered, finally, in these pages in thrilling detail by the iconoclastic historian Gavin Menzies—father of some of “the most revolutionary ideas in the history of history” (New York Times). Meticulously analyzing exciting new geologic research, recently unearthed archaeological artifacts, and cutting-edge DNA evidence, Menzies has made a jaw-dropping discovery: Atlantis truly did exist, and was part of the incredibly advanced Minoan civilization that extended from its Mediterranean base to England, India, and even America. In The Lost Empire of Atlantis, he constructs a vivid portrait of this legendary civilization and shares his remarkable findings. As riveting as an Indiana Jones adventure, The Lost Empire of Atlantis is a revolutionary work of popular history that will forever change our understanding of the past.

The Edible Front Yard: The Mow-Less, Grow-More Plan for a Beautiful, Bountiful Garden
Timber Press | 2011 | ISBN: 1604691999 | English | 216 pages | EPUB | 20.65 MB People everywhere are turning patches of soil into bountiful vegetable gardens, and each spring a new crop of beginners pick up trowels and plant seeds for the first time. They're planting tomatoes in raised beds, runner beans in small Descriptions, and strawberries in containers. But there is one place that has, until now, been woefully neglected - the front yard. And there's good reason. The typical veggie garden, with its raised beds and Descriptions, is not the most attractive type of garden, and favorite edible plants like tomatoes and cucumbers have a tendency to look a scraggily, even in their prime. But The Edible Front Yard isn't about the typical veggie garden, and author Ivette Soler is passionate about putting edibles up front and creating edible gardens with curb appeal. Soler offers step-by-step instructions for converting all or part of a lawn into an edible paradise; specific guidelines for selecting and planting the most attractive edible plants; and design advice and plans for the best placement and for combining edibles with ornamentals in pleasing ways. Inspiring and accessible, The Edible Front Yard is a one-stop resource for a front-and-center edible garden that is both beautiful and bountiful all year-round.

The Heart of the World: A Journey to Tibet's Lost Paradise ISBN: 0143036025 | 2006 | EPUB/MOBI | 544 pages | 10 MB/10 MB The myth of Shangri-la originates in Tibetan Buddhist beliefs in beyul, or hidden lands, sacred sanctuaries that reveal themselves to devout pilgrims and in times of crisis. The more remote and inaccessible the beyul, the vaster its reputed qualities. Ancient Tibetan prophecies declare that the greatest of all hidden lands lies at the heart of the forbidding Tsangpo Gorge, deep in the Himalayas and veiled by a colossal waterfall. Nineteenth-century accounts of this fabled waterfall inspired a series of ill-fated European expeditions that ended prematurely in 1925 when the intrepid British plant collector Frank Kingdon-Ward penetrated all but a five-mile section of the Tsangpo's innermost gorge and declared that the falls were no more than a "religious myth" and a "romance of geography." The heart of the Tsangpo Gorge remained a blank spot on the map of world exploration until world-class climber and Buddhist scholar Ian Baker delved into the legends. Whatever cryptic Tibetan scrolls or past explorers had said about the Tsangpo's innermost gorge, Baker determined, could be verified only by exploring the uncharted five-mile gap. After several years of encountering sheer cliffs, maelstroms of impassable white water, and dense leech-infested jungles, on the last of a series of extraordinary expeditions, Baker and his National Geographic-sponsored team reached the depths of the Tsangpo Gorge. They made news worldwide by finding there a 108-foot-high waterfall, the legendary grail of Western explorers and Tibetan seekers alike. The Heart of the World is one of the most captivating stories of exploration and discovery in recent memory-an extraordinary journey to one of the wildest and most inaccessible places on earth and a pilgrimage to the heart of the Tibetan Buddhist faith.
