The sale has seen some changes over the last few years with KimLake Farms and Ken Edey Simmentals taking on new chapters in their lives and Willow Creek Simmentals stepping into the sale to round out the offering. I must say that we have had a lot of fun working together to bring this sale to where it is today. With that said, we have remained committed to you our customers with supplying sound functional seed stock that will help you reach your goals in the livestock industry. We are constantly searching for new genetics to enhance our programs which in turn will be passed onto your programs. We continue to offer our payment plan of half down sale day with the other half not due until November 1st 2014. We continue to offer Free Delivery in the Peace Country and do our utmost to get them delivered right to your door. We continue to offer sight unseen purchases and work very closely with you to find a bull that will meet your needs. Bulls have all been semen tested and inspected by a licenced veterinarian. It is appreciated to have the input of these young people. I evaluated the bull pens the end of January. Both operations have developed their bulls extremely well and they should be in ideal condition to go out with your cow herd when grass arrives. Jaydawn and Willow Creek have both always been very meticulous when it comes to sourcing walking herd bulls. Payment Terms

Pay 1/2 on sale day and the balance due November 1 with post-dated cheque. Bulls become the risk of the purchaser as soon as they are sold and must carry insurance to qualify for Terms. All bulls must have their registration papers transferred to same owner.

Health and Fertility

All bulls will be scrotal measured and vet examined. All bulls over 12 months of age will be semen tested. All bulls were treated with Ivomec and such products and have received all their vaccinations. Contact seller for details on programs.

100% Guarantee

All bulls are guaranteed to be satisfactory breeders in accordance with CSA and CCA guidelines. Should a problem occur barring injury or mismanagement, a bull of equal value will be provided or a credit will be issued towards the purchase of another bull. We guarantee you will have a bull to service your cows.

Heated Sales Barn

Attend the Northern Classic and take advantage of the sale, the 4H show and all the festivities involved with the trade show. Remember to show your catalogue at the gate in order to park next to the Drysdale Centre.

Bull Developement Option

The Northern Classic consignors will keep the bulls free of charge until the early part of April. Bull buyers need to insure the bulls while cared for by the consignors.

Delivery Option A

Bulls can be picked up at Evergreen Park on sale day and a $50 discount will be deducted from purchased price.

Delivery Option B

At the buyer’s option and risk the bull can return home and be delivered anywhere in the Peace Region and to central locations free of charge. Anywhere outside of this will be shared costs of the buyer and seller. We will do our utmost to deliver them right to your yard. We will start delivery shortly after the date of sale on our schedule so please have a spot ready for your bull as we try to make full trailer loads when delivering.

Bulls can return to JayDawn or Willow Creek and be picked up any time prior to April 1 at the buyer’s convenience.

In-Herd Use Semen Rights

We reserve the right to collect semen on any bull in the sale for in-herd use only. If you have any questions, please contact us.

We still offer the personal touch given, as when our bulls were sold on the farm. Contact us and we will personally go over the bulls, your program and your needs. If you are not able to attend the sale, we will recommend you to contact one of the sales staff, who will represent your needs in a professional and confidential manner.

Throughout the catalogue you will see bulls pointed out as individuals that could be used on heifers with minimal or no calving troubles.

EPD Explanation

EPDs are “Expected Progeny Difference”. They are a useful tool in selection EPD incorporate the individual animal with its anestry performance. EPDs do not compare across cattle breeds. They are individual based per breed. EPDs indicate a probable variance above or below breed average for that trait for a given bull’s progeny. The accuracy of EPDs for calendar year bull calves is generally about 20% (one out of five times) so use it cautiously. One of several selection tools. It won’t take you long to find 35A on sale day. A bull that is easily found in the bull pen. Here is a Gunner son that has some performance built in. He is deep sided and super long made like all the Gunner sons. His dam is a Fleck influenced female that is earning her respect early here at JayDawn. Super long made and very smooth throughout, best describes 3A. This bull has very balanced numbers and will produce those extra long calves that really weigh up well in the fall. This Gunner bull comes from a cow family that we acquired from KimLake. We are hoping to get a female from her to carry on this lineage. When Denis had her she had all heifers and since coming to JayDawn she has had all bull calves, which have all made the sale. Full brother to 10A sold to Rick MacDougal in 2013, East Land Farms in 2012 and Herman Giesbrecht in 2011. 342N is a large, tanky female that has a perfect udder and always brings calves in on the top end of the calf crop. 10A has a little extra frame than most of the Gunners. Here is another polled son of Gunner and out of the good cow that we acquired a long time ago from the Bulhofner program, 12M has been a no miss, trouble free female and always maintains her body condition when raising a calf. Her udder and feet are perfect at the age of 12 and she is set to have another January calf. Sons from 12M sold to Home Alone Simmentals in 2005, Larry Wallin in 2006 and Winita Mitchell in 2012. She also has four daughters working in herd, all which are patterned very similar to 12M. Consistency, longevity with calving ease, performance and maternal all wrapped up in one package.

These Gunner sons are like peas in a pod, all very long, smooth made and have some hip to them when you get in behind them. Again, here is a grandson of the 12M cow that came from Bulhofner’s. Like her dam, 12T is very moderate, easy fleshing and has super feet and legs along with a superb udder. Sons have sold to Melburn Holdings in 2010 and Randy Pocket in 2013. To date we have never assisted a Gunner calf being born and the consistency is superior to any other bull we have used. Buy with confidence on these Gunner sons as they are trouble free.

1P is a direct daughter of the Zima bull who was known for extra performance in his calves. This cow has perfect feet, lots of milk with an excellent udder at the age of 10. She is dark cherry red baldy that always calves in the top end of each season. She has produced sons that sold to Stout Brothers in 2010 and Clark Rycroft in 2012. The mating with Gunner has produced a long, smooth bull that will work in a variety of programs.

Here is a potential heifer bull that comes from a cow family that is known for light birth weights and easy calving. The Melita cow family is one of our larger cow families that stemmed from the good Bulhofner program. All the females are good footed, easy doing females with superb udders that always bring in a top calf year after year. 12S has produced bulls that have sold to Hazelmere Land & Cattle Co in 2012, John & Janys Boyte in 2011, Hodges Simmentals in 2009 and her other calf is a female that has been retained in herd. Backed by consistency, 9A just may be the bull for you.

Here is a very moderate, long bull with a super hair coat from a very solid cow that has perfect feet and udder. This bull’s granddam is still in production at home at age 15 with perfect feet and udder as well. Maternal sisters sold to Sunny Valley Simmentals and Murihead’s at the Checkers sale in Red Deer with maternal brother selling to Les Bredeson in 2009. Moose Creek Jennifer is a cow we acquired from one of the Peace Country Simmental females sales years back. She is 15 yrs old this spring, never had her feet touched, never helped a calf suck, always calved in the top 25% and always brought in a top calf at weaning . Here is a polled son from Blitz that is super thick made with lots of hair. His dam is 12 this spring and always calves in the top end, has lots of milk and a super udder. Turton is a new bull that we used as a calving ease sire on our first calf heifers. He worked very well for us giving us trouble free calving on the heifers and calves that were very lively at birth, second calf crop is hitting the ground again this year trouble free. The nice thing about these Turton bulls is not only were they born easy they also had some grow in them. This super thick bull lost his mother on pasture the end of July and forged on his own till weaning and did quite well. The PlayBoy daughters have excellent udders and stem back to the strongest cow family at JayDawn. Another Turton son that has been a pen favorite all along. Little longer made calving ease bull but still quite stout over that top line. We really liked the way these bulls grew out and will be using Turton again this spring. His 2 year old dam came off pasture in good condition and has a bright future ahead of her. MMWK No Limits is a super stout hipped, wide topped, soggy made beef bull. Add on a smooth shoulder and clean front end and excellent feet. He walks out extremely free and fluent. These were comments that we heard from the judge at every show he was showed at. MMWK No Limits was named the Dawson Creek Fair Reserve Bull Calf Champion second to his brother MMWK 81A. He was The Farm Fair National Simmental show Junior Bull Calf Champion and was named the Peace Country Beef Congress Cattlemens Choice Grand Champion Bull. The sire of No Limits is our walking herd bull MRL 38X, a TNT Powersurge son. This bull has worked very well in our herd, leaving us an excellent set of first calvers with excellent udders and of extremely good feet. This calf is one of the youngest bulls in the pen. Concord is a dark red baldy bull that shows alot of depth and length. 801A is mothered by a great PRL cow that Colby bought out of the Porter’s reduction sale, she’s huge bodied with a great udder and backed by Magnitude. This guy is a very cool made bull coming off two black parents. He is sired by a bull we sold two years ago as one of our high sellers to Mike Weiss and now is also used in the Fallen Timber Farms operation. Rock Solid is a real stout, deep bodied bull that will add style to his calves. He was picked out by almost all who toured the farm this summer, Brian Bouchard sure picked him out quick. In recent years I know Jason has had a good market for his tan Charlois bulls, well if you are looking for one why not make it a tan Simmental bull. 55A is a bull that’s been a standout all summer and continues to excel. With much excitement we are proud to present to you Colt’s powerhouse bull, Southern Comfort 81A. He’s been a central figure in our 2013-14 show string and has shown many why we paraded him so much. He was the Dawson Creek Fall Fair Bull Calf Champ and Reserve Champion Bull Overall, Farmfair Legends of the Fall Champion Simmental Bull and second overall, Farmfair Reserve Sr Bull Calf Champ and most recently the PCBC Reserve Grand Champion Cattlemens Choice Bull. One of his best qualities and reasons for so much success is his incredible amount of overall stoutness. Its going to be tough to find a black herdsire this spring that is stouter than this guy, he is a major performance oriented bull. This bull is super long made, very deep and very stylish made with huge testicular development. He is a son of the MRL Surge 38X bull who has done a lot of good for our breeding program, and that was proven this year at Farmfair where he was named the Champion Simmental Get of Sire. Southern Comfort is off of a beautiful black baldy cow that was purchased out of the Kimlake dispersal. She is a very big barreled, thick bodied cow with a beautiful udder and good feet. This guy’s EPD numbers are awesome and he’s going to put pounds and style in his calves because of his width of hip and top added with his length. Here’s one of the top black bulls in our offering. Prospector is off of MRL Surge 38X and Colby’s best cow, who is quickly becoming one of the best red females in the Willow Creek herd. She is an extremely long, thick bodied cow with an awesome udder and feet, who has proven she can produce with the best at a young age. We sold her first daughter by TH Black Editon last fall at the Friday Night Lights sale to Stout Bros and if you ask either Cam or Mac what they think of her, you will only get good comments. Prospector himself is a very clean, very long fronted bull that has huge amounts of rib shape and he travels out as good as any bull in our pen. Clutterbuck is a very unique bull who has been a favorite of everyone who saw him this summer and fall. He’s a smaller framed, real deep sided and stout made calf who puts a lot of good things together. His dam is, hands down, our best black cow who will most likley be flushed someday in the near future. She is massive ribbed, extremley stout and has perfect feet and udder. This guy is a bull that will give you calving ease yet add performance as his brothers were both top end performance bulls. Hot Spot is a younger calf that has certainly kept up with the rest the pen. But that’s no suprise with his mother being one of our top producing cows. She has a great udder and can milk like crazy. She weaned off her first calf sired by Rufus at 870, not bad for a first calver. He went on to be a high seller that year to Ridgevalley Colony and her next bull calf is at Paul and Laurie Kinnee’s great herd. Oakie is a bull who many will over look sale day due to his color, but trust me, some lucky rancher won’t and I can’t wait to hear about the calf crop from this bull. He is probably the most easy doing bull in the entire pen and is the kind that will be extremely feed efficient. He’s a full brother to last year’s Oak Heart bull who was a standout in the pen going to Sheldon Golnick. We decided to use Anchor D Imax on some of our Fullblood heifers after seeing him at Anchor D as a calf and then him going on to top their spring bull sale. This is the only Imax calf we had and he hasn’t dissapointed. His color is second to none, not to mention he is smooth polled and is one who will work wonders in the heifer pen. SALE TERMS & CONDITIONS The terms of the sale are cash or cheque payable at par at sale location unless satisfactory credit arrangements have been made prior to the sale. The right of property shall not pass until after settlement is made. Bouchard Livestock Ltd reserves the right to require a certified cheque as settlement before releasing any sale cattle. Should the purchaser fail to settle for his purchase, Bouchard Livestock Ltd reserves full power to resell the animal to the best advantage, either publicly or privately, without further notice. Any loss arising from such resale, together with keep and all other expenses shall be payable by the defaulter. All settlements must be made with the clerks of the sale before any cattle will be released. The owners, Bouchard Livestock Ltd. and sale staff have the right to refuse bids from anyone who has a previous record of default in payment and/or who has not made prior credit arrangements prior to the sale with the owners and/or Sale Management. BID - Every animal consigned to the sale must be sold by auction. No by-bidding will be permitted. Each animal will be sold to the highest bidder. DISPUTES - In cases of disputes, bidding will be reopened between the parties involved. If no further bid is made, the buyer will be the person from whom the auctioneer accepted the last bid. The auctioneer’s decision in such matters will be final. PURCHASER’S RISK - Each animal becomes the risk of the purchaser as soon as sold. ANNOUNCEMENTS from the auction block will take precedence over printed matter in the catalogue. Buyers are therefore cautioned to pay attention to any such announcements. CERTIFICATE OF REGISTRY - The proper Registration of Recordation paper, as the case may be, will be duly transferred and furnished to the buyer for each animal after settlement has been made. SHIPPING - Assistance will be given in making shipment after the sale, but Sale Management or Seller assumes no risk. Expenses incurred are the responsibility of the purchaser. Purchasers are requested to furnish shipping instruction when making settlement. GUARANTEE - All animals will carry standard breeding guarantee as specified by the applicable Canadian breed Association.
