Well, it’s time for the “Boys from Bentley” to host their 4th Annual Simmental Summit Bull & Female Sale. The quality of cattle that Beechinors have doesn’t happen by accident. The working cattle knowledge that this family has is becoming very evident, top producers are scrambling to get the Beechinor bloodlines into their herds. This has been very obvious the past two years as the boys averaged $15,000 on their bred heifers last year and then topped it at this past Fleckvieh Equation where four out of eight heifers averaged over $23,000. Numbers don’t lie and the quality of their cattle speaks for themselves. Not only the hard work of Stefon and John but also their wives Rebecca and Michelle is paying off in the quality of the bulls that are on offer at this year’s bull sale. I dare say that they stand at the Summit among other elite breeders of Simmental cattle. This year’s Fullblood bull pen is topped by multiple sons from the likes of “Magnum” “Bullet Proof ” and new comer “Valor”. Possibly the strongest pen of performance red and blacks ever offered by the Beechinors are backed by “Combustible” “Bootlegger” and “Commotion”. What a perfect name for this bull, “Commotion” because that’s exactly what he’ll be causing as breeders, ranchers and cattlemen jostle for position to see his sons. I just hope the boys don’t name one of his sons “Fist Fight” next year. As a returning feature to this year’s sale will be 10 registered Purebred and Fullblood heifers! They come from the heart of the Beech Bro’s. replacement pen. These fancy gals can be compared to the annual consignment of high-averaging “Beechinor Breds” that are sold every December in Red Deer, except now you can purchase and breed them to the bull of your choice! Some outstanding commercial heifers from their dad, Barney, will also be a highlight at this year’s sale. All heifers come from the aforementioned bulls. Once again bulls from High Country and Double R will be part of the Simmental Summit Bull and Female Sale. High Country Cattle Services is a family-run operation with over 30 years’ experience in the Simmental Industry. The bulls they develop are meant to be easydoing, sound-footed cattle that contain calving ease and performance. These traits have been, and continue to be a goal of Rob and Deanne Young throughout their years as breeders and active promoters of the Simmental breed. All bulls and heifers that are remaining to be housed after the sale must be insured. Bulls will be housed free of charge until May 1, 2015. Animals will be delivered free of charge to points across Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba. This will be done at the buyer’s convenience, however, if the truck is in your area you may be asked to take your bull early. We will do our utmost to deliver your bull to your yard.

If you are unable to attend the sale, but are interested in bulls or heifers, please feel free to give the consignors a call prior to sale day and they will personally go over the bulls and your program to recommend the animal that would meet your needs. Following that, the Transcon Livestock Team will represent your needs in a professional and confidential manner.

Health & Fertility

All bulls will be scrotal measured. All bulls over 12 months of age will be semen tested. All bulls were treated with Ivomec and such products and have received all their vaccinations. Contact seller for details on programs. All sale bulls have been given Fusogard vaccine for foot rot prior to the sale.

EPD Explanation

EPD’s are “Expected Progeny Differences”. They are a useful tool in selection. EPD’s incorporate the individual animal with its ancenstry performance. EPD’s do no compare across cattle breeds. They are individual-based per breed. EPD’s indicate a probably variance above or below breed average for that trait for a given bull’s progeny. The accuracy of EPD’s for calendar year bull calves is generally about 20% (one out of five times) so use it cautiously as one of several selection tools. Thank you! For the past three years we have auctioned off an item to support a charity that has helped a family in our community. This year we have chosen a charity that has helped John and Michelle’s little girl Kaidynce, STARS. At the beginning of September Kaidynce was involved in an unimaginable lawn mowing accident where a hockey puck was hiding in the grass and became a projectile. Unfortunately for Kaidynce she was literally standing in the wrong place at the wrong time and as a result was struck directly over the heart with the hockey puck. This temporarily stopped her heart causing her to collapse. Emergency crews were called and STARS was on route. After a quick examination the ambulance crew called STARS and then proceeded to transport her to the Red Deer Hospital. Here it was determined that the enzymes in her blood were at levels comparable to a heart attack patient. Also, due to the trauma her heart rate was very inconsistent and it was determined that STARS would be needed to transport her to the Alberta Children’s Hospital for further observations. After a couple nights in ICU, Kaidynce was able to return home with a bruised heart and has thankfully made a full recovery. Thanks to the excellent team of doctors that help our family in our time of need. With STARS, those living in rural communities, working in remote areas, travelling on highways or being transported from community hospitals to major medical centres, receive the very best in critical care in helicopters staffed and outfitted as mobile ICUs. We have always believed in the services provided by STARS and after our recent experience we ask that you help us support STARS. As we all know it costs money every time they are called out. Let’s keep them flying! We will be offering up two signed NHL jerseys. One will be of the newest number one draft pick for the Edmonton Oilers, Connor McDavid. This past year was not without its challenges with an early season drought ravaging western Canada. The agriculture industry once again showed its resilience and was rewarded with some The Bee chinor F timely rains later in the season. Resulting in many areas with larger crop yields and a late season flush amily in pastures. As we’ve entered 2016 lots of positivity comes back into the cattle industry and feeder calf prices begin to rebound. It is a great opportunity to invest in genetics that will lead your program into the future. We feel this is our best set of bulls with many top individuals. We’ve taken some major steps forward in our Red and Black program by investing in some of the top genetics from across the continent. The Fleckvieh Fullblood offering has consistency throughout but slight differences to satisfy even the most discerning buyer. Rebel Yell is a moderate framed Commotion son that is squarely made with lots of dimension. He has lots of hair and is correct in his structure. His mother is a young cow with a tidy udder and strong maternal traits, being a daughter of Revolution and backed by a strong cow family. Furor has been a farm favorite since birth. Extremely soft made, long bodied, strong performance with huge feet and great testicle development. These Commotion sons were extremely well received in last year’s sale and we are very excited to present this year’s group on the 29th. Pandemonium is a large framed bull that will crank out high preforming calves. This cherry red guy has had the herd bull appearance from a young age, with a great hip and top. Cyclone is a three quarter brother to BEE 9C (Lot 4). He also will add on pounds to his calves at weaning. The added length of spine and some more frame will push the scales down. He is athletic in his build and should be able to cover a good number of cows. This is a powerful bull with a decent birth weight. Lots of muscle expression and easy doing. KOP Commotion was a feature bull out of Kopp’s 2013 bull sale. He combines the powerhouse Crosby with the broody and popular donor cow Ms. Touchdown 67U. We were fortunate to purchase this cow out of their dispersal to lead our donor program. A maternal brother to Commotion is BEE 631C (Lot 11). Outcry’s dam is a very productive cow that traces back to one of the best fleckvieh cow families in the business.

Smuggler is a docile pen favorite that is super smooth-made. He has a great hoof and is very athletic. Moderate birth weight, dark cherry red with a wide top he carries deep into his hip. We used Bootlegger on a few bred heifers the first year and loved the results so we bred the bulk of the replacement pen to him. He has once again proved to be very easy calving. We feel very fortunate to have been able to secure one of the exclusive semen packages on the high selling Canadian red bull from 2014, NUG Royal Red. We have been aggressive in our search for unique genetics and are really happy with the results. Royal 130C is a large-hipped, muscular bull with the popular blaze face. His dam had a high selling bull to Larry Bartz in 2014 and one of our top bred heifers this year. Punch 130Y goes back to another strong Twin-Chief cow.

Heavy Duty is a curve-bender from moderate birth weight to one of the pen leaders in performance. He is an embryo calf out of our 67U flush cow making him a maternal brother to our senior herd bull, KOP Commotion. Heavy Duty’s flush mate sisters lead the red division in our replacement pen. He has a smooth build with a small head, which should lead to calving ease, and with his frame and depth of body he will add growth into his progeny. Anarchy was a past high selling bull going to DGR Cattle. Our father purchased half interest back in him to use in the commercial herd. After his calves consistently showed explosive growth patterns, we knew we needed to start using him on some registered cows. Being an own son of Revolution made the decision even easier. Archie ranks at the top of the breed for weaning and yearling weight EPD’s. He is a dark red bull that is deep from his heart to his flank and loose-hided. His dam is a broody-made cow with lots of milk.

If you’ve been following our program for the last number of years, you’ll already know the legacy Revolution has left. His sons have always been popular and with only a very limited amount of semen left, there won’t be many opportunities to get a direct son going forward. Out of another one of our strong cow families this guy will leave a really nice set of daughters. Strike has a smooth design and nice muscle expression.

Full Fleckvieh Maverick is a dark red Magnum son with a great rate of gain. This bull reminds me a lot of his grand sire Upgrade, a bull whose sons were always popular. His depth of rib and length of body make him a close resemblance to Upgrade as a yearling. He has a bit more frame than some of his brothers but this adds to the performance. Full Fleckvieh This is a big-butted, square-topped Bulletproof son out of a correct 12-year-old cow that looks half her age. Security has dark hooves and is correct in his skeletal design and sound on the move. A full brother to Security was just born the same day as these comments were written and once again with excellent pigmentation, style and hair coat. The vigor of these Bulletproof’s is outstanding and we have yet to assist one in nursing.

Beechinor Bros. She Devil Flush Mates

Three Full Fleckvieh flush brothers out of a cow that needs little introduction to anyone following our program. She Devil has raised multiple high sellers going to many progressive herds across western Canada. She is one of those really special cows that just seems to click with every bull she has been crossed with. It’s no surprise that breeding her to Bulletproof has left us with some pretty special individuals. One flush mate sister to these boys, BEE Vixen 567C, sold at Friday Night Lights for $17,000 to Clearwater Simmentals and I would venture to say she was one of the best we have produced. We have kept a second sister for our replacement pen and she would rank in the very top. Each of these bulls carry typical Bulletproof traits but are quite unique in their own ways. Bullet 60C is the largest-framed bull of the three with nice middle, big testicle and strong feet. Armour 75C is super square and extremely soft-made through his heart, rib and flank. Nice hip shape. Steel 30C is long-spined, square-hipped, smoothshouldered with nice head and dark red. These bulls have a bit more birth weight than some of the other bulls in the sale but that could be attributed to the fact of being embryo calves that went a little over due. With these bulls’ smooth design and length of body they should prove to calve easy on cows. If you keep or sell replacement heifers these are bulls you’ll want to own. Full Fleckvieh A super stylish bull out of an eye-appealing cow. If I ever was going to put a show halter on a fleckvieh cow it would be Ms. Lisa 38Y, she’s just that correct. Maternal siblings to Kevlar have sold to the Pernitsky’s at Wilke and Storebo Farms at Beechy. Kevlar has a moderate birth weight, strong calving ease EPD’s and a smooth shoulder and head. The type of bull that won’t likely cause a fuss at calving but with an 826lb 205 day weaning weight and big muscling, he will leave you with a set of curve bending calves. Full Fleckvieh These Bulletproof bulls have been a pleasure to watch develop. Not as early maturing as some of the other sire groups we have had in the past but this will lead to added longevity on these bulls and their calves. Destruction is a bull that has a lot of dimension through his rib and could very well be the longest bodied bull in the sale. His dam became part of the herd when we purchased a group of Ron Verts (Green Hill) top cows. We would rank her as the best cow out of that group. A strong-uddered, big-bodied cow that can crank out the good ones.

Full Fleckvieh We saved Iron Clad to wrap up the Bulletproofs and truly think he is something special. He is a powerful herd bull prospect with a unique pedigree on the top and bottom side. Although a bit different, his pedigree he still incorporates some of the fleckvieh maternal greats like Goldl, Toni and R.H. Patricia. He’s intriguing in his coat color and that makes him all that more unique. He leads the pen in performance, muscling and depth but still maintains the sire group’s smoothness. Willy Joe is another bull we, along with JNR Farms, sourced from the states. He was the pick of Great Guns’ bullpen. While 712C is a younger bull, he is a rising star in the bullpen. Every day when I walk through the pen its hard not to take notice of his muscle mass, looseness through his rib cage and hide. He has an excellent hair coat and big nuts. There are not a lot of Garner daughters in the herd but the ones we do have are top producers.

Full Fleckvieh Wonka is bull that won’t get missed. Much like the Whil 712C bull, he is extremely soft-made with an abundance of middle, hair and testicle. Wonka’s got a large hip, wide top and big wrap around goggles. His super-uddered dam has been one of our best producers with sons at Four C Simmentals and the Stefura’s. Full Fleckvieh Valor was a past high seller going to Anchor D Ranch. Danny was kind enough to give us a few straws of semen and we used it sparingly on some of our top cows. We had 4 bull calves all of which are at the top of the bullpen and one daughter that is one of the best we’ve raised. Grit 18C is a maternal brother to the great Jenessa 45X at Virginia Ranch who has consistently been producing high sellers. This docile bull is dripping with pigment. Vengeance combines our two best cow families into one. His daughters will be outstanding as these cow families are no miss and responsible for more feature cattle than any other blood lines in our herd. Vengeance is a heavy muscled, moderate-framed bull that is dark red and an actual weaning weight of 940lbs. Full Fleckvieh Marriot is likely the stoutest bull in the offering. He exploded with this natural fleshing ability from a very young age across his top and hind end. He is wide based, hairy, dark red and solid colored right down to the ground. Great testicle development and extremely docile. His sire, Radisson, was a popular bull coming out of the Virginia program. Marriot’s dam, Annabelle, was the high seller out of the inaugural Western Harvest sale.
