Erik Norwood is a young drummer out from Brooklyn, NY relocated to Durham,NC. He is 25 years Old. Erik has Been Playing For 21 years. He Started Out Playing Gospel Music At The Church He Attended Called “Gods Watch Tower Of Prayer” Out Of brooklyn,NY. Erik Grew up in church watching his mother and god father play drums. He Grew up playing Gospel music at a very young age. Erik comes from a musical family. He has have quite a few musicians and singers in my family. Singers in family Keisha Jenkins (Mother) Maurice Lauchner (Uncle) My cousin a well known bass player named Victor Wooten And Many More. Erik would practice on his mothers couch,car dash board, pots and pans, iron board; he played drums on pretty much anything he could get my hands on. His first drumset was a pearl export series drumset. Over the years He has learned to play many other genres such as Hip-Hop, R&B, Pop,Jazz, Fusion. During his years growing up Erik searched for his unique sound. His sound is very commercial and session. He is extremely versatile in his craft. Many say he has a very mature sound and plays beyond his age. Erik has has the privilege to play behind A few artist such as kierra kiki sheard, Shana Wilson, Jessica Reedy, Marvin Sapp and many more. He also Has had The Opportunity To Play In Nashville, TN On A Bobby Jones Gospel Live Recording For NC Artist Leinathan Gaiter & Comp And WRAL Live Tapping With Gospel Artist Keisha Burch. Erik Norwood is a well known musician and has influence on many other musicians in the area. Currently Erik is the drummer At Victorious Praise Fellowship Church C.O.G.I.C. in The RaleighDurham Area. Which is frequently radio broadcasted /streamed Live Every Sunday. He has also worked In Sessions with a few artist on their albums: Aarik Duncan &Level, General & Anti-Gravity, Ashlee Altise, and Katrina G and many more. Erik is The Featured Drummer On The Christian Rock artist General & Anti-Gravity’s New Single “You’re So Good” On ITunes. Erik is an independent drummer and is currently working with a hip-hop group called “Collective Music Group” out of raleigh, NC and a few other artist. He is also a drum instructor in his area. Erik is also apart of the shed sessions family. His favorite quote to tell up and coming musicians “Timing Is Everything...” As Erik continues to succeed on his journey he will continue to make people dance to his sound.
Erik has been granted the opportunity to play drums in sessions for a few artists such as Katrina G., General & Anti-Gravity, Ashlee Altise and more. He has had the privilege to play behind a few Gospel artists such as Kierra KiKi Sheard, Jessica Reedy, Marvin Sapp, Shana Wilson, and many more. Also he had the opportunity to play in Nashville, TN on a Bobby Jones Gospel Live Recording for local artist Leinathan Gaiter & Comp. Erik has been heard playing not only on different artists records but also on the radio for the past two years on New Year’s Eve/Day with his church Victorious praise Fellowship. Also his bands new single has been getting played on at least ten radio stations all throughout the nation. Erik’s accomplishments and goals are far from over. His playing and personality on and of the kit always motivates other musicians to be great. He is well known all throughout North Carolina. Many say his sound is what sets him aside from many other drummers. He is continuously told by many that he is ahead of his time when it comes to the knowledge of being a drummer.
