FREE RANGE 15.06 - 17.07, 2017
Welcome to FREE RANGE 2017. Off the back of an amazing season last year, we are very proud to be presenting the work of over 3000 talented UK graduating artists at the Truman Brewery this summer. After introducing the FR Awards to FREE RANGE last year we saw recipients Katharina Halser, Eva Abeling & Dylan Fox all go on to benefit from mentorship from our different awards partners, and then showcase a complete collection of their work at February exhibitions as part of their prize. All three artists worked incredibly hard to pull off their first ever solo shows, and received great reviews across the board. We will continue to promote emerging talent through our awards scheme in 2017, celebrating the best collective and best individual BA students on show in both photography week’s and the fine art week. We are really excited to be working with the British Journal of Photography again, their line up of speakers will be engaging and thought provoking for graduating photographers. Likewise we are eager to show you the programme of talks & workshops new Art Week partner Artfund are presenting in the first week of July. We love our home at the Truman Brewery, while you’re here make the most of all that the site has to offer - shop and eat at the markets, drink and listen at Jujus, dance at 93 feet east and cafe 1001 and look at FREE RANGE! BA FASHION This exhibition is the first graduate presentation from BA Fashion at Leeds Beckett University and is a celebration of the creativity and individuality of our students. Their collections reflect the conceptual design ethos of the course and take inspiration from historic sources to imagined planets, from sexual harassment in the workplace to Cuban streetwear. The garments have been pattern cut and constructed to an industry standard and all internal and external details have been carefully considered. The portfolios demonstrate high levels of digital design skills using multiple platforms and our students’ ability to design across a range of market levels. Hyphen Predictions, forecasts, expectations are unstable and shifting. The space of the hyphen positions us dialectically between things. It is a space of connection and synthesis, one in which opposites work through that tension to discover, create and question design. For our 2017 graduating students this is where their practice is defined.

Post: 3587 3587 / 34 = 105.5 is the quantity of space we have allocated to each artist exhibiting new site specific works. Celebrating diversity through our range of practices, we are brought together under the unifying theme of equal space, democratically distributed across all participants. Building on the conversation started by our Winchester show, Post: 3587 marks the continuation of our artists’ engagement with each other and the global society we live in.

Indent Final year Interior Architecture + Design at Nottingham Trent University would like to present INDENT. #trentindent Indent is a mark making technique. Our exhibition is about us making our mark on industrial buildings, free range and on the industry as future designers. We are creating an industrial experience for visitors to the exhibition. We intend to create a process that encourages interaction and brings production to the core of our exhibition. And a fantastic bar for industry night.
