Abilene Bar & Lounge | Apr. 30 Third Man Records artist, Danny Kroha, comes to town from his native Detroit. The folk/blues/ gospel singer/guitarist tours in support of a new release, Angles Watching Over Me. On the album, he plays not just the guitar but the banjo, bass, dulcimer, diddley bow, washtub bass, jug and mouth organ!

Sahlen’s Stage, Highland Park | May 8 - 17 The 2015 Lilac Festival promises a full lineup of talent who will perform throughout the ten day event. First up, at the Opening Ceremonies on May 8 from noon to 2 p.m., jazz singer Landau Eugene Murphy, Jr. takes the stage. Fans will remember him as the 2011 winner of NBC's America's Got Talent. From there, Murphy, whose voice draws comparisons to Frank Sinatra, has gone on to headline in Vegas at Caesar's Palace and at the Apollo. He's also performed with The Temptations and at the Super Bowl. His album, That's Life, debuted at #1 on the Billboard Jazz Charts. May 8 - The Outlaws, featuring Henry Paul have been a premiere Southern Rock band since the 70’s. Their hits include “There goes Another Love Song” and “Green Grass and High Tides.” The Outlaws tour in support of a new CD, A Matter of Pride.

May 9 - ZBTB, the nation’s premiere Zac Brown Tribute Band, captures the Zac Brown experience with a wide range of the band’s original songs and covers using soaring vocal harmonies and precise instrumental lines.

May 11 - Dr. Dog, rockers from Pennsylvania, are known for their harmonies and for a sound that features psychedelic rock and indie folk, influenced by such acts as The Beach Boys and The Beatles.

May 14 - Rusted Root has built a very loyal following on the strength of their live shows which combine the band’s hypnotic rhythms and percussion jams with infectious harmonics and explosive energy. The group’s albums include Cruel Sun, When I Woke (“Send Me On My Way”), Remember, Rusted Root, Welcome To My Party, Stereo Rodeo and The Movement. May 15 - Mingo Fishtrap, the soul and funk act featuring the father/ son team of Roger Blevins, Sr. (bass) and Roger Blevins, Jr. (guitar/lead vocals), has released six albums since the mid-90s - Succotash, From The Private Bug, EP2, Yesterday, Live at the Granada and In The Meantime. May 16 - Charlie Musselwhite says playing the harmonica is “like singing the blues without words.” Born in Mississippi, raised in Memphis, he moved to Chicago at 18 to play in that town’s blues-saturated South side. He’s worked alongside such greats as Little Walter, Sonny Boy Williamson and Shakey Horton. May 17 - Ana Popovic is a Memphis based Serbian blues guitarist/ singer. She’s been nominated for a Blues Music Award in the “Contemporary Blues Female Artist of the Year” category and has six solo albums to her credit including the latest, Can You Stand The Heat.
